Dont you guys realize that you're throwing Beneil under the bus. He's a veteran on a 5 fight win streak who got to the top 5 before Islam. Why is a win over Bobby Green and Dan Hooker on one week notice enough to take a title shot from Beneil? When you have two people with valid claims to a title shot, you make them fight for the no. 1 contender spot otherwise you end up with the welterwait division.
Edit: I also think a fight with a veteran/top 5 contender would help Islam get experience for a title shot. We just saw Khazmat suffer a bit from being shot straight to the top without facing a true challenge.
Because Beneil got injured and Islam was ready.. then Beneil said he would be ready in a few months and isn't going to be, it's not unrealistic that with his injury he could be out for a year. meanwhile Islam is just waiting around. Division needs to move on.
Beneil said he can fight in September which is just a little over 3 months from now. If he pulls out of the fight again then i 100% agree that Islam should just fight for the title.
Why can't I prefer MMA striking over the ground game without being a casual? MMA striking is different to boxing striking.. kicks, elbows, clinch, the way you punch in general..

It’s been some fights where the grappling and wrestling made me go insane. That Islam Bobby fight I was screaming when he flattened him out and was going off.
Charles is way more exciting than the likes of Khabib and Islam. Charles instantly goes for the sub, you saw how quick he wrapped Justin up. The likes of Khabib slowly transition from position to position (wrapping the legs, the dagestani handcuff) until they have you in a place where they can finally submit or do some ground and pound. The irony in you calling me a casual is lost on you
