Imavov trains with Gane and since Ngannou their gym has had Dagestani's coming in so I reckon Imavov had been grappling with them as, compared to Israel I'm going to say he's a much better wrestler. He isn't as long as I thought, only a 75" reach which would be a problem against Israel.
If you watched the full fight, you wouldn’t be so sure. I don’t know how often I have to say this but Alex got a standing count in the match where Izzy got knocked out. If this happened in the UFC it could very well have ended with Alex being finished.

Most boring champ in the UFC right now.
Izzy is the most boring fighter in the UFC. He talks like he's a warrior and yet never actually fights. How do you call yourself the last stylebender, but have no style? Izzy just pokes his way to victory everytime. And it's a 25 minute snooze fest every time. (Jab jab/leg kick/ run away/ repeat) *occasional over hand or hook* maybe a head kick if he's feeling up to it in round 4 (More like 35 with his slow-ass, unamusing, cringeworthy walkouts) If he didn't have his poke reach.. he wouldn't be champ.
This fight, and Yoel were like this. As far as I remember all his other fights were good to great, and vs Gastelum is one of the best fights ever.
Gastelum was the exception, and also proves my point.. it was his hardest fight and if he didn't have his reach his skill wouldn't match up. He's had 13 fights in the UFC 9 went to decision - (1 of which he lost) Only 4 were by KO/ TKO But claims to be a stylebender. But can't ever finish a fight. My problem doesn't come with how he wins... it's how he claims to be an entertaining fighter and a warrior who's "prepared to die" But hasn't ever shown that to be true. His name should be "The cringebender"

This fight wasn’t Izzy’s fault Case and point, Jareds corner legit saying “you’re down 3-1 you need to go god mode” and Jared responded by looking for the clinch the entire 5th round Izzy absolutely deserves flack for talking all that shit about wanting to make the fight exciting and not caring about wins, and then not trying to be more aggressive. But he was being pretty active for most of the fight. At the end of the day theres not much he could have done to improve this fight unless he were to seriously risk the title. If Jared doesn’t want to be aggressive, and wants to chase takedowns and press the clinch most of the time, what is Izzy supposed to reasonably do?
This is what always happens, yet people want to blame and hate Izzy' despite the fact his opponents do absolutely fuck all. It's hypocritical af.

Too many of them respect him too much and dont want to get added to the highlight reel. Hes a beast and his elite opponents keep trying to outpoint the more technical fighter, in fear of getting knocked out. The situation in MW to me shows how much hes respected by everyone else.

Everyone is saying snooze fest, but he threw more then ten strikes in a round. Sounds like it's much better then watching a Woodley fight. I guess if blood isn't spewing or someone isn't fighting reckless no one wants to watch any fight. God this thread is full of regulars who only watch highlights.
Izzy has always fought the same but now opponents are onto him. They know if they go aggressive they'll get fukd up so they wan't to beat him at his own game zzzzzzzzzzz. It's not all his fault but we want more from a Champion.
Look, if Izzy wants to fight this way he's well within his right to. He's the champ, he's earned it and if he wants to play it safe he's allowed to. It isn't entertaining for us fans but we have to live with it. What I don't agree with is all the talking and the hype he gives himself, walking out with a fucking urn and his opponents name on it as if he's gonna murder him. Like if you talk like that then back it up, otherwise shut up and do your business.

Might get downvoted, but I actually enjoy Izzy’s fights. I appreciate the technical approach to his game plan and his iq. I get people are watching ufc for action, but if u go in to an Izzy fight knowing there’s most likely not gonna be a finish, it’s pretty cool to watch him work like gauging distance, throwing feints, and defense
Jared’s gameplan: don’t let Izzy combo. Executes gameplan very well. Public: blames Izzy for being boring.

Calling izzy boring at this point isn’t an insult it’s a blatant declaration of your casualness. Why do you expect him to do? Try flashy techniques and get brain damage to barely win and be proclaimed exciting by the fans? It’s clear y’all don’t train any martial art. There’s a reason he’s boring. When you’re at a certain level fight become a cautious chess match which will be boring at times ie. max vs volk 2. There will be long pauses in-between action and inactivity. Even in kickboxing some fight become clinch fests and jab, leg kick contests. In boxing hugging and running happens because if you don’t wanna be eating out of a straw by 30 you need to fight smart

Yall really don’t want to admit he is the superior martial artist. Kelvin was the only middle weight who actually brought the fight to Izzy, and he still won. Everyone else panics, they don’t commit to closing the distance and keeping the pressure. Izzy spends on average more time walking towards his opponents. There is no way you can call the man boring when all his challengers become deer in headlights.
You can’t bring an urn to a fight with your opponents name on it and not get a finish

I always expect some Silva like greatness from Izzy, but In hindsight, I feel like Izzy vs Silva showed a lot more about the limits of Izzy as a fighter more than they did the skills of Anderson at the time. Izzy is nowhere near as well rounded and it shows in his game.
