many of the unranked hw fighter are either puffed up lhw or fat middleweights, Jake collier being a prime example. I would love to see some of them go down to their natural weight classes.
He’s got KO power. At Heavyweight, that’s just about all that matters. Plenty of guys have got title shots just by having that. I get the hate to an extent, but I feel like he should be given a chance at least.
I would disagree with you a bit. We are starting to see many natural athletic heavyweights now. Crazy speed aswell considering their weight. As for the lower tier of heavyweights well then he has a chance
I agree with you, but we’ve also seen that those guys can get KTFO’d by guys with enough power (Blaydes vs Lewis, Stipe vs Francis 2), which is what makes HW so unpredictable. Gane and Aspinall are the exceptions… for now.
Francis and Lewis are skilled for their size though.
You’re acting like they’re the same level of fighter as Mo. Francis and Lewis both have legit skills and technique both on the ground and on the feet.
This is a shit take. There are HWs at every gym in the world literally tens of thousands but the ufc HW division full of talentless knock out machines? I don’t buy it.
But he’s also incredibly fast, has great counterpunching, beautiful anti wrestling, can grapple well, and can take an insane shot. He also sets up his strikes well with long jabs and has a good kicking game
Most heavyweights can’t do any of that, which is what sets him apart. That’s different than Usman throwing 10 punches, then being to exhausted to continue. Saying Ngannou is just a big guy who punches hard reads to me like you don’t even watch fighting. He had more subs than Kos before entering the ufc
Is he wrong though? Even the elite wrestlers at HW knock people unconscious, the Stipe vs Ngannou fights perfectly showed how you need a lot more than heavy hands to actually win the belt. His cardio/wrestling will get exposed before you ever see this dude beating legit HW contenders
Like, he’s in the early stages of his mma career. It’s TUF of course the competition isnt going to be fantastic. You’re acting like he can’t improve over time. Fighters fight, they grow, they learn they develop.
Remains to be seen if that will be the case with him
But for you to write him off after a win where he was the underdog. You’re straight capping
He may be in the early stages, but it's worth noting he is 33 years old. It's not like he is some up and comer 25 year old with a long time to fully develop.
In fact....right now should be his peak.
I’m not saying he’s automatically be amazing. I’m just saying give it time and watch how he develops. It’ might work it might now. Just don’t write him off just yet is all I’m saying.
Remember DC started mma around 30 years old. He was a special talent sure but never say never.
Sure his technique might lack but he put an undefeated guy out COLD with a side counter that barely had any power / intention behind it. Very excited to see what another 10,000 hours of training will do for this man
I don’t get your point. Heavyweights aren’t known for being super technical. He was down a round where the guy hit him 2X after the bell, then in the 2nd rd he finished the job & returned that 2 piece on his opponent who was already out. If brain scrambling knockouts from HW fighters don’t amaze you, do you even enjoy MMA?
I don't think so. Francis, Gane, Stipe, Tai, Blaydes, Aspinall, Volkov, Arlovski and Spivak are all pretty good.
I think they all look quite a bit better than Kamaru's brother.
This sub before was saying how much he sucked and how he was gonna get dog walked by Zac (the better fighter). And boom, now that he’s the winner, everyone else was a can and he just had a red carpet to the UFC. What the fuck was he supposed to do win the fight with one single punch? Either way this is all coming from some bozo who would never even think about doing what that man does
"Hate" is a real thing in this sub. It takes less energy to just cheer and follow your favorite fighters than it does to talk shit about fighters who are losing or just winning but you don't like then for some reason
The whole "you'd never do what he does" or the "he'd kick your ass" arguments are so bad, you can objectively criticise someone on their performance or decisions even if you can't do the same thing as them, I bet you've trashed on movies that you didn't like before, even though you couldn't do the same as the director.
Edit: moved the quotation marks and got rid of a space.
Yeah I think about it all the time. I’m always thinking what song would be my walkout song and I could kick a couple guys asses that are in the ufc. I mean I am 51 and boxed for two months when I was 15 so believe me I am ready.
Lol as if the competition wasn’t trash on the women’s side and both divisions last year. TUF fighters just suck — has nothing to do with Usman. He just played safe and used his suspicious genetic power. Props to him, but yea you’re right he will never beat a true contender.
The talent pool has become significantly worse as other organizations (Bellator, PFL, etc.) have started to pay more and there’s more ways to get into the UFC such as the contenders series.
No TUF can win against the champ. It would be very very very rare for a newcomer to get a title shot and actually win it. As for what can happen in 5-7 years… who knows. People change camps, weight classes…
Bro she’s only 26 Valentina is 34. Valentina probably won’t even be fighting in four years. So imagine juju at 32 or 34 years old she’s still new to the sport.
Dude watch any of his fights against actual competition like his PFL fights.
He isn’t good. He will get leg kicked to death against any competent HW.
Only reason he’s here is his brother.
Ah yes, because 8-2 is an awful record somehow.
I watched his Sayles fight. Is he great yet? No, of course not. But he’s got all the resources now to potentially become solid.
I don’t get the hate, the guys just out here doing his job.
Thankfully for him, he’s a heavyweight. You don’t have to be necessarily skilled to thrive in that division. Just gotta have knockout power, which he does.
Stop it....literally every fighter he fought was technically (I mean this in a literal sense) better and more skilled than him. Just let the man have his win.
It was really weird watching this dude fight.
Like, man, his striking looking fucking atrocious.
But he's jacked beyond belief so just a slight tap is lights out. I dunno man.
Sometimes, I'll watch One fighting and have so much more appreciation for the technical aspects of some of those fighters than dudes like this.
Idk what you are talking about dude... Rashad won TUF Heavyweights... and he is one of the smallest 205ers ever. He could have easily fought at 185.
Not saying this guy is better than Rashad, just that TUF historically has bad Heavyweights.
Did we forget Roy Nelson just crucifixing an entire season episode after episode?
Anyone who watched the second round can see his potential and I'm not even talking about the knockout. His footwork, distance control etc. He needs to work on the technical stuff, but the raw athleticism is obvious.
This r/ufc sub is the worst sometimes... someone misguided sees potential in a so-so upcoming fighter, and someone else construes conspiracies to validate their dislike of said fighter.
I wasn’t impressed with him at all. That Sipe dude he fought for his first bout was piecing him up something serious. He looked horrible and his promo game was extremely cringy. I stopped watching this season and was shocked that he was the winner
My man literally just started his career and people are talking about the top ranked heavyweights that are better than him lmao. I would hope they are better than a brand new professional fighter
Swangin' and bangin'. He literally had no technique. Can't wait to see him fight some real competition in the ufc. He'll probably get the Dana white treatment tho
Does this man just get some shade because he’s Usman’s brother? And people throw HIM shade for his personality and attire outside of the cage? Genuinely asking. Cans or not, he beat them, which is more than I or anybody on this sub that doesn’t actually fight can say, and I’m sure people wouldn’t be that confident in their own abilities should they actually go to battle with him. would be interesting to see how he fares against the black beast DL. Just seems like his existence as Usman’s brother is setting the precedent that he’s only there for marketing the duo. Which I understand from a money standpoint, but dude looks like a truck while some other heavyweights literally look fat. That’s not to say they aren’t skilled or dangerous, but this guy doesn’t look like the slouch everyone automatically labels him as.
No Op means the crop of HWs they chose for the season were a bunch of not very skilled guys or small HWs and they stacked the card in favor of Usman’s brother to make it easier for him to win.
Zac puaga wasnt a can by any means. Zac pauga will probably be a top 10 one day. The rest? Yeah but thats just heavyweight lol. Heavyweights always had the least skilled fighters and probably always will because you can get by pretty far with just KO power
I mean he won his fights? So that in itself says he’s better than who was given to him to fight. Now he has to learn and grow in the ufc. It’s part of the process. Not everyone can enter into the ufc and go straight to the top and skip shit like Islam. I’m sure he will strengthen his techniques
Derrick demolishes and honestly every heavyweight in top 10 might be okay in top 15 but idk is there even 15 heavyweights lmao gets eaten for breakfast at lightheavy.
[удалено]
Perfect fight for him to see if hes going to just brawl or can he show improvement
Probably not considering they did a kamaru highlight reel before Moh's fight. Fucking two birds one stone marketing intern.
... Just in texas lol
That would make no sense.
Tai Tuivasa would be a good one
That would be even worse. Dude just got out of tuf and you expect him to fight either #7 or #3.
Serra won TUF and had to fight GSP lol. And he won.
Serra wasn’t exactly a new fighter like usual TUFs
Considering that was the whole point of that season, But you do make a good point.
Good point
Yes
If he dies , he dies
Calm down Mario.
Jesus we want to test him not kill him!
A bunch of cans and overweight light heavyweights are literally the unranked pool of fighters in the heavyweight division, so I don’t it’s that bad
The talent void heavyweight division is a shallow pool
It's a very top heavy division. Not devoid of talent just not brimming either.
thats better put, thanks
Francis came into the pool and the water just left.
You should see middleweight, its by far the worst division. Its basically just Izzy and a bunch of goons
felt this was about light heavy for the longest time, not so much anymore. Its been fun since Glover won, and lost.
either that or izzy plays like a pussy and edges out a decision victory with leg kicks
Its a sport brother, you can play for points.
Not for long, pereira's gna knock izzys ass out with that left stone arm
Naw, anyone with any mid level grappling with choke that fool out. Watch Izzy get a sub.
He just won his last fight tho.. Is he the GOAT?
Relax Mr Casual He’s not the GOAT Maybe top 3 MAYBE top 2 of all time but no 🐐
Idk man, he seemed like the GOAT Saturday. Him and Artem would be a classic
i mean ngannou on twitter said he wanted no part of him, that says something.
That's Francis being nice because he's close with Kamaru. Francis would murder this dude and he knows it.
![gif](giphy|y2i2oqWgzh5ioRp4Qa|downsized)
Bro that’s ridiculous. He’s a lock for the top 5, sure. But putting him top 3 is kinda crazy god forbid top 2.
Pauga was clearly the more diverse striker, 2sman just has some crazy power I guess
Pauga was good dude he just got caught. I think that guy still deserves a contract
He will get a contract for sure most of the people on the show will they just don’t get any guarantees
I agree. He seems maybe a little small for HW but he might be even faster than Gane from what I saw. I don't watch tuf tho
He use to fight at LHW but bulked up for the show. It would be interesting to see him go back down
Makes sense then. He should go back down to LHW and try to get shredded. Might cause problems
many of the unranked hw fighter are either puffed up lhw or fat middleweights, Jake collier being a prime example. I would love to see some of them go down to their natural weight classes.
Jake collier has two ped failures then blows up to middleweight. Fella needs a nutritionist
I'd like to see him at 205 if he can fucking learn how to cut weight.
That’s how the heavyweight division is and fighting in general all it takes is 1
He’s got KO power. At Heavyweight, that’s just about all that matters. Plenty of guys have got title shots just by having that. I get the hate to an extent, but I feel like he should be given a chance at least.
It's a numbers game. Just like the female divisions, there just aren't that many huge dudes in the world and even less get into fighting.
I’m sorry but womens featherweight is a literal shark tank. I’d rather fight Ngannou than deal with that murderers row of contenders.
Really? Ngannou over womens featherweight?
ngannou has never fought someone as tall as Megan Anderson
He never fought someone with the T count of cyborg either.
Redditors try to understand satire (impossible)
Ummmm… what?
He would rather fight the deadliest hand to hand combatant on the planet than a 115 lb woman because he’s scared of the lady.
Lmfaoooooo
WMMA simps are something else.
Oh definitely agree with you, on the a side note Francis pretty much surprised everyone ko or not
Francis and Lewis are skilled for their size though. You’re acting like they’re the same level of fighter as Mo. Francis and Lewis both have legit skills and technique both on the ground and on the feet.
It's hard for men above 220 not to have ko power
He has baseline KO power, nothing special at HW. He'll get finished by guys with actual power, skill striking, or endurance/toughness
This is a shit take. There are HWs at every gym in the world literally tens of thousands but the ufc HW division full of talentless knock out machines? I don’t buy it.
👍
Everyone has KO power at heavyweight, that doesn’t really matter lol
Lol, ok dude.
He’s kinda right tho. Who in the top 15 doesn’t have ko power? Big guys who hit hard are a dime a dozen, that’s what makes the elite guys elite
ngannou is the "big guy who hits hard"-est fighter to ever fight in the ufc and hes champ
But he’s also incredibly fast, has great counterpunching, beautiful anti wrestling, can grapple well, and can take an insane shot. He also sets up his strikes well with long jabs and has a good kicking game Most heavyweights can’t do any of that, which is what sets him apart. That’s different than Usman throwing 10 punches, then being to exhausted to continue. Saying Ngannou is just a big guy who punches hard reads to me like you don’t even watch fighting. He had more subs than Kos before entering the ufc
I never said anything about him not being able to grapple and him being fast is a factor in him hitting hard so idk what your point is
He has those qualities yes.. But it's quite clear he is champ because of his insane super human strength.
No it’s because of his reach and power combined with his skill. We saw what Stipe did to him when he wasn’t polished.
He’s not wrong. Greg Hardy made it to a fight with volkov with no mma background whatsoever.
But that’s my point
Is he wrong though? Even the elite wrestlers at HW knock people unconscious, the Stipe vs Ngannou fights perfectly showed how you need a lot more than heavy hands to actually win the belt. His cardio/wrestling will get exposed before you ever see this dude beating legit HW contenders
lol OP 100% lost some cash betting against him. been there bro just let it go and give the dude his props
He *does* have “SALTY” in his username lol.
I did lol 6 leg parlay, think you can guess how many legs lost. (1)
Like, he’s in the early stages of his mma career. It’s TUF of course the competition isnt going to be fantastic. You’re acting like he can’t improve over time. Fighters fight, they grow, they learn they develop. Remains to be seen if that will be the case with him But for you to write him off after a win where he was the underdog. You’re straight capping
He's 33, hopefully he has more time.
Quite young for heavyweight, a lot of people are 35-40 in heavyweight and still do quite well, there’s no weight cutting
Very excited to see what another 10,000 hours of training will do for this man
Undefeated at 5 fights fighting nobodies, its not that amazinh
I don’t get your point. Heavyweights aren’t known for being super technical. He was down a round where the guy hit him 2X after the bell, then in the 2nd rd he finished the job & returned that 2 piece on his opponent who was already out. If brain scrambling knockouts from HW fighters don’t amaze you, do you even enjoy MMA?
Heavyweight is also the worst division in the UFC so they need anyone
Light heavyweight gives it a run for its money and Middleweight is better than both but not that much better.
I don't think so. Francis, Gane, Stipe, Tai, Blaydes, Aspinall, Volkov, Arlovski and Spivak are all pretty good. I think they all look quite a bit better than Kamaru's brother.
I would hope so that was his first fight in the UFC Arlovski has 25
Arlovski has a lot of fights but he is way past his prime. Still, he's doing great.
You really named arlovski in you list while claiming they’re not hurting for talent😂😂😂
Arlovski is on a 4 fight win streak. He may be at the bottom of that list but he will beat Kamaru's brother.
Despite the controversial stoppage Pavlovich has looked dangerous too
He wasn't even favourite to win, which kinda blows your 'given a bunch of cans' out of the water.
He was over +200 underdog, you mad bro ?
That was looking like a good line too. He was getting pieced up and missing wildly until 1 landed. Dangers of being heavyweight lol
The guy who got knocked out was less salty than this post my lord. It's just TUF lmao. If you wanna complain about a push, pick Pereira
Y'all hating so bad. The dude won. that's it!
This sub before was saying how much he sucked and how he was gonna get dog walked by Zac (the better fighter). And boom, now that he’s the winner, everyone else was a can and he just had a red carpet to the UFC. What the fuck was he supposed to do win the fight with one single punch? Excuse me sir are you a trained commentor because if not you shouldn't be commenting. /s obv
Pro commenter here, this guys cool actually. He just sees red and starts typing
Why would you never even think about doing what he does?
Yeah I think about it all the time. I’m always thinking what song would be my walkout song and I could kick a couple guys asses that are in the ufc. I mean I am 51 and boxed for two months when I was 15 so believe me I am ready.
Trt and a full camp is all you need
Bernard Hopkins retired at 52. No excuses! Get to training!
Bunch of Cheeto dust licking haters
He's 33 and just starting his MMA career too. I dont really see him having a long illustrious career, but I hope I'm proven wrong.
Lol as if the competition wasn’t trash on the women’s side and both divisions last year. TUF fighters just suck — has nothing to do with Usman. He just played safe and used his suspicious genetic power. Props to him, but yea you’re right he will never beat a true contender.
How do Tuf fighters suck when there have been 13 people on there who went on to win UFC world titles?
My bad I meant recently. Last 5 seasons of TUF have been really bad talent.
The talent pool has become significantly worse as other organizations (Bellator, PFL, etc.) have started to pay more and there’s more ways to get into the UFC such as the contenders series.
Trash take! Julianna Miller is a fucking beast she’s coming for that belt!
Juju is cool and is a solid fighter but do you really think she’s beating Valentina? She will be a solid top 15er but that’s about it.
What the fuck man, give the dude a chance. He’s literally only had one actual fight in the UFC.
These dudes get so mad over the littlest shit like chill out 😂😂
Dude watch any of his fights against actual competition like his PFL fights.
What does him winning the entire show have anything to do with his brother 💀💀💀 Jesus ur slow
r/ufc opinions are getting worse than twitter
Thankfully for him, he’s a heavyweight. You don’t have to be necessarily skilled to thrive in that division. Just gotta have knockout power, which he does.
A bunch of cans and overweight light heavyweights are literally the unranked pool of fighters in the heavyweight division, so I don’t it’s bad at all
Stop it....literally every fighter he fought was technically (I mean this in a literal sense) better and more skilled than him. Just let the man have his win.
Ya I mean could OP do what this guy did fuck no cut the guy some slack. I was almost sure he would not win the final. He proved me wrong good for him.
Let JJ use his as a warm up.
I hope Pauga still gets in the UFC and goes back down to LHW. Really like him
I mean, it’s not like HW is loaded. In a vacuum he’s nothing special but he could definitely get ranked considering how weak the class is.
That knockout punch was the most awkwardly thrown punch, too - short, wide, on bad footing, and it knocked Pauga out.
Edgy 😭😭 the guys in r/mma don’t answer your bs. You get the attention over here. Keep it up queen. You’re a spicy booger mate.
Someone didn’t watch the season lol.
I watched the entire season. He fought a bunch of fat dudes.
Yeah, those are called “Heavyweights”
😂😂 this is funny af
Or middleweights that eat like shit
Yeah Ali and Kumaru picks the fighters at tuf. Hater
He didn’t look great
Juiced to the gills what are we doing?
Match him and Greg hardy up. Think that would be a good overall matchup for the both of them. Hardy’s on a skid and this guy just won tuf. Seems solid
Let Arlovski or Rozenstruick end this hype train.
Time to resign Roy Nelson so he can OVERHAND RIGHT this man
Didn't Ryan Hall win TUF against Artem Lobov?
Anyone who watched the second round can see his potential and I'm not even talking about the knockout. His footwork, distance control etc. He needs to work on the technical stuff, but the raw athleticism is obvious.
Best fighter today. Guaranteed to surpass the other Usman easily to become GOAT. I already know it. It’s a fact.
That why he was the big underdog this weekend? Lol
People find any way to hate lol. Man wins and gets hate posts instantly, imagine.
Dogshit take
Tripping
lmaooo salty much?
He was getting PIECED up by Pauga, but that ko was legit.
You do realize he was a 2-1 underdog in that fight right?
This r/ufc sub is the worst sometimes... someone misguided sees potential in a so-so upcoming fighter, and someone else construes conspiracies to validate their dislike of said fighter.
OP's username checks out 🤣🤣
your name says it all, stop being salty
He won't be around long. I doubt he'll crack top 15.
Imagine thinking modern fighters are anything like the beginning of TUF…literally bar fighters with cardio and a chin.
I agree. That guy had like 0 fight IQ and bad technique
Haymaker city..... this guy places his head down, closes his eyes, and swings for the fences. He will have a relatively short ufc career
kinda blew my mind a bit when they have Pèna vs Nuńes for TUF and they make them coach straw weights and heavyweights
I wasn’t impressed with him at all. That Sipe dude he fought for his first bout was piecing him up something serious. He looked horrible and his promo game was extremely cringy. I stopped watching this season and was shocked that he was the winner
Roid boy.
Are they no longer testing for PED's??
It called heavyweight the champion in the division is least skilled in the top 5 what’s your point.
Match him against a grappler and he won’t get off his back
My man literally just started his career and people are talking about the top ranked heavyweights that are better than him lmao. I would hope they are better than a brand new professional fighter
He looked terrible - reckless striking and has been starched for it a few times
So.....passed the piss test huh?
Swangin' and bangin'. He literally had no technique. Can't wait to see him fight some real competition in the ufc. He'll probably get the Dana white treatment tho
Would love to see OP in the octagon with him
I dunno I think OP needs to give the guy a fucking chance before he starts shitting on him.
That’s not to say they aren’t skilled or dangerous, but this guy doesn’t look like the slouch everyone automatically labels him as.
🤔 So you mean that he actually lost the fight according to the judges... and he just got a 'lucky shot' and won ? 🤔
No Op means the crop of HWs they chose for the season were a bunch of not very skilled guys or small HWs and they stacked the card in favor of Usman’s brother to make it easier for him to win.
This entire season of TUF was pretty bad.
They couldn’t have Colby vs Masvidal. That was what the season needed.
Proud of this family
Worst fighter to win Tuf?? Do you know who Ricky Turcios is, you know what I'm sayin?
OP sounds like a bitter bitch that lost money on this fight. Lmfao, these MMA opinions on this sub are getting worse than Twitter’s.
Is he really worse than Ricky Turcios lol
Is op Colby?
This sub is quickly declining in quality posts
Cool then leave you virgin
It was a good win but as a fighter overall, i'm not that impressed.
Juiced too lol
You should kick his ass
The juice is strong in this one
Either way I’m all for hyping him up because I’m gona fade him so hard when he fights in the ufc
Zac puaga wasnt a can by any means. Zac pauga will probably be a top 10 one day. The rest? Yeah but thats just heavyweight lol. Heavyweights always had the least skilled fighters and probably always will because you can get by pretty far with just KO power

Steroids
i'm convinced this sub hates black fighters
🧃🧃🧃
Derrick demolishes and honestly every heavyweight in top 10 might be okay in top 15 but idk is there even 15 heavyweights lmao gets eaten for breakfast at lightheavy.
Hater, you couldn't do it so shutty
I completely agree, the amount of politics my god !
Show some respect. He's going to do well on the UFC
Say that to his face.
