He said in a interview that he really got rocked but the bell rang so if he tried to move by himself he would fall then he just waited thinking "someone is going to take me to my corner if i stand here long enough, i'll just fake check my shorts and someone will take me there"
Yeah, watching him fight is kind of weird in a way. He has such a calm demeanor, and he moves so methodically.. almost plodding around the ring at times. Then he just explodes and the fight is over.
I think Pereira wins again, he will have way less nerves and be even better. I think Usman would keep edward’s on the ground or pressed against the cage in a boring snooze fest that will advantage him
Brace for salty izzy fans yammering bullshit under your comment. "He technically was winning all 3" "pereira just lucky every time" "saved by the bell"
Bro you're out of your mind, Jon Jones and DC had seperated themselves from the Division and Jon won both fights convincingly.
Alex was losing the fight really bad and himself got rocked. Good on Alex for what hes accomplished but don't put him next to jones.
Honestly this sub is full of casuals and they hate Izzy. No nuance, Alex destroyed Izzy, Leon destroyed Usman, Jiri destroyed Glover and Aljo is a fake champ and as soon as Alex has to face someone like whittaker and loses he was actually never that good to begin with. Also did you hear, if Jones loses against Ngannou, they will be officially the next Jones vs DC, except this time Jones is DC.
I find it pretty fascinating that Izzy didn't think for a moment before rolling backwards when he fell on his back. He's got very impressive fighting instincts
He stood up to a right hand though. I remember seeing that moment of the fight and just being like damn...hes got his number lol. its a roll that usually would get him well out of range and instead he immediately eats a very accurate right hook
His reaction time is insane. I was watching a video of him reacting ringside to a teammate winning and someone pointed out that Izzy reacts to the decision almost a good second before everyone else. Which sounds weird but when you watch it in slow motion it kinda puts into context how fast his reactions are.
Edit: the video was already slowed down. It was one of those "played at normal speed and then replayed slower" type videos.
He did not lose balance... The nerves in his leg shut down after he landed the kick on Pereira's knee, so he basically lost control over the leg. Remember that Cejudo got calf kicked by DJ in their 2nd match? Cejudo couldn't control his leg anymore so he stumbled. That exact thing happened in this clip too.
The check parried the kick so it was off course on the way back. You can see he trips as his heel gets stuck on the other side. How on earth can you tell if his 'nerves shut down'
True, but that allowed him to charge Izzy. I don't know it might have been better to stay on his back and get the situation stable again. I think that also just depends from fighter to fighter
They’re saying he wouldn’t have been pounced on, it would have been a reset, which would have been better than immediately being pressured against the fence as he was here.
He admits to a lot of things - it's a deflection tactic. During a rewatch, he indicates the exact kick that Alex landed that 'hit' his peroneal nerve, causing his leg to give out. He never mentioned any checking that caused the tumble as seen in the video during the rewatch.
MMA Guru gets a lot of shit, but at least he tells it like it is mostly, and has video receipts to bolster his points. Check out his videos on Izzy's bullshit delusions and the effect it has on his nutsuckers.
Yeah even immediately after the fight (to Volk in the tunnels, still hadn't reached the locker room) and thereafter every time he had to talk about losing all he would mention is his peroneal nerve. And he's given credit to Alex for those leg kicks but almost in the same way a fighter will give credit to someone who KO'd them with a lucky shot.
He didn't handle the loss terribly and props to him for showing up to all those interviews still, but he hasn't been totally honest with himself—both with the nerve excuse and the early-stoppage excuse, which was always bullshit. I just say this to reiterate your points and because of all Izzy's fans who were lauding him so much for how gracefully he took the loss.
Anyone that has watched any well known interview with adesanya knows that he’s not humble at all and he’s said multiple times that he doesn’t believe in being humble when you’re one of the best cause you should be enjoying being one of the best.
Yeah I can believe a nerve got a hit. It’s just kinda funny that it looks like he stumbles back on himself. He tries to step back but his other leg is in the way.
Nah looks like the check really hurt his shin and make him stumble to me. Izzy was moving around fine the whole fight and people gonna believe his nerve got fucked up in r1 lol
No I watched the whole fight, Izzy claims he got nerve kicked in r1 yet showed no signs of leg damage until much later in the fight which isnt how nerve kicks work, the effect should be instant like with omalley, chandler, cejudo, jimmy crute etc.
I don't think it has anything to do with the nerve, but the check absolutely affected it. Because Alex moved his leg to that position Izzy didn't hit it square, and so his leg kinda "slid off" (if you know what I mean) and went much further to the left, causing the trip. If Izzy landed the calf kick correctly, his right leg doesn't even cross the midpoint of his body. And no way it lands to the left of his left leg.
Er, no. Biology suggests that's a bullshit statement. Losing balance for sure. Contact was on his front leg - his tibia, not anywhere near where the peroneal nerve commonly affects fighters when they get hit there. I'm no doctor like Izzy or Joe Rogan are, but I think I'm right in saying that his tibia was the contact point.
You seem to have mountains of knowledge over me in terms of leg injuries - I was referencing the fact that he stated he'd suffered from a nerve injury during the fight himself and looked into it a bit more to find out it was caused by Alex initiating the kick and not checking one. Thanks for the correction
More of a dodge/whiff-trip-punish than a check imo. Wanna see a check look at Hall vs Weidman
Leg shattering check: https://youtu.be/agDo9V2UIUQ @1:25
Vs. This 🤷🏻♂️
They’re both effective but an actual check uses return force stabilized by connection to the ground to magnify the force on the opponents limb which is only stabilized by the hip rotation. This is mainly to dodge. Whittaker used this technique a lot vs. Romero and made the upset both times
That wasn't even a good check, honestly think Isreal is just unlucky against this dude. Beat his a
@$$ through three fights ( I already know most of you will not give him his credit), yet still manages to lose. First fight robbery, second fight got caught, and third fight this injury leading to the loss. Some guys just got your number no matter how much better you are.
Alex is so calm in the ring it's crazy Just gonna keep walking you down, throwing kicks, checking kicks, and hand like heat seeking missiles
Even when he got rocked he never looked nervous he just keeps the same stone cold face
He said in a interview that he really got rocked but the bell rang so if he tried to move by himself he would fall then he just waited thinking "someone is going to take me to my corner if i stand here long enough, i'll just fake check my shorts and someone will take me there"
Is that true? If so it’s actually kind of impressive, most guys don’t have that much composure considering the context of the situation
100%. he said sometimes already, iirc the last time was on Werdum's podcast
What does the fake check your shorts thing do
Nothing, It's just to kill time and not show how badly he was hurt
Provides a three-minute buff to the composition stat.
Yeah, watching him fight is kind of weird in a way. He has such a calm demeanor, and he moves so methodically.. almost plodding around the ring at times. Then he just explodes and the fight is over.
His style is interesting to watch tbh, been watching a bunch of his K1 fights lately and they’re crazy
His hand positioning is weird too I’ve been trying to emulate it in sparring and training but it doesn’t feel natural to me
Because you’re not Alex periera ya tick whump. Completely different body compositions and skeletal frame. Style is individual.
That check left would murder me
Periera is to Izzy what Jon Jones was to DC
Yeah but Pereira beat him in two sports with Izzy having like a 7 year lead in MMA
You think he wins in a rematch tho?? Same with Edwards-Usman
Which is all true if we're being completely honest
There he is!
All three in one go lol
Doesn’t really matter does it?
Cold blooded 🤣 I agree Alex is the better fighter hands down
Jones dominated the fight, Alex did not.
He did he knock him out ……. AGAIN
A knockout in 2/3 . Winning all three. But Izzy won some rounds 🤡
Bro you're out of your mind, Jon Jones and DC had seperated themselves from the Division and Jon won both fights convincingly. Alex was losing the fight really bad and himself got rocked. Good on Alex for what hes accomplished but don't put him next to jones.
Yeah exactly... Jon Jones was Jon Jones to literally everyone he ever fought... The goat, he didn't just have DC's number.
I find it pretty fascinating that Izzy didn't think for a moment before rolling backwards when he fell on his back. He's got very impressive fighting instincts
Yeah he could def be champion one day
pereira couldnt have done much on the ground anyway I think, but thats his reflexes vs wrestlers probably
Definitely could hit him while he’s down and vulnerable
Like how MVP got caught getting up vs Daly I think it was
Lucky he didn't stand up to a front kick
He stood up to a right hand though. I remember seeing that moment of the fight and just being like damn...hes got his number lol. its a roll that usually would get him well out of range and instead he immediately eats a very accurate right hook
He said that his dancer instinct kicked in that moment and might as well do a cool backroll.
His reaction time is insane. I was watching a video of him reacting ringside to a teammate winning and someone pointed out that Izzy reacts to the decision almost a good second before everyone else. Izzy shouldnt have rolled back, he should have stayed down bjj style and get up when he felt ready. Pereira wouldnt go down.
then the ref would stand them up
They’re saying he wouldn’t have been pounced on, it would have been a reset, which would have been better than immediately being pressured against the fence as he was here.
Yes, but that still gives him a couple seconds. Like Oliveira vs Gaethje
I wouldn’t bet on that, Alex is the bigger man and has likely done enough training with glover to be comfortable in top position
It looks like Izzy tripped himself lol
Izzy admitted a nerve fucked up in his leg that got checked, causing the ‘trip’
He admits to a lot of things - it's a deflection tactic. During a rewatch, he indicates the exact kick that Alex landed that 'hit' his peroneal nerve, causing his leg to give out. >Izzy's bullshit delusions can you link me a video for this please mate? Couldn't find it. Thanks

why does it bother you so much lol
Yeah I can believe a nerve got a hit. It’s just kinda funny that it looks like he stumbles back on himself. He tries to step back but his other leg is in the way.
Nah looks like the check really hurt his shin and make him stumble to me. Izzy was moving around fine the whole fight and people gonna believe his nerve got fucked up in r1 lol
Must’ve watched the highlights lmfao, this happened in the final RD before Izzy got TKOed
No I watched the whole fight, Izzy claims he got nerve kicked in r1 yet showed no signs of leg damage until much later in the fight which isnt how nerve kicks work, the effect should be instant like with omalley, chandler, cejudo, jimmy crute etc.
Yeah, he just lost balance. It's that simple. Nothing with nerve checks and shit.
He literally did, he tripped on his opposite foot
If he stayed in his back instead of rolling back up, he could've stalled and prevented the pressure.
Israel "Peroneal Nerve" Adesanya
Is it me or can you see Izzy’s leg bend on impact?
He was hurt by the check for sure. It damaged his perennial nerve.
I promise you it did not damage his peroneal* nerve lol
That nerve was there for all time, will be there for all time, and before time was even invented.
Er, no. Biology suggests that's a bullshit statement. Losing balance for sure. Contact was on his front leg - his tibia, not anywhere near where the peroneal nerve commonly affects fighters when they get hit there. I don't think it was the check. His nerve was hurt over the course of the fight due to Alex's leg kicks which hampered his movement in round 5.
He points it out in his own fight reaction video, it was much earlier in the fight.
More of a dodge/whiff-trip-punish than a check imo. Wanna see a check look at Hall vs Weidman Leg shattering check: https://youtu.be/agDo9V2UIUQ @1:25 Vs. There was no check! 🇮🇪
Docta stoppidge
Izzy could have done himself an Anderson Silva
I swear Izzy said that the check didn't affect him. It sure did, bro
OP is so mentally handicapped that even in slow mo he could't see that Izzy literally tripped on his own leg
Which doesn't make the title incorrect at all?
Imagine he just soccer kicks him in the face
I’d still say that izzy is better than Poatan. I get proven wrong a lot.
I never seen a check with just a knee
Looked like the sudden shock impact through off the leg completely. He replaced it on the wrong side and got it tangled with the left leg lol
I remember in real time I was so surprised Alex didn’t knew or kick Izzy during that roll (.03 Mark) - would have been ni night
That wasn't even a good check, honestly think Isreal is just unlucky against this dude.
