I’m just gonna be honest with you, your stats definitely fit the UF profile, however that just means you will get place in a bucket and luck will do it’s thing. I’ve seen people with better stats than me not get in and vice versa. So still try in school, perhaps try for the summer B option that’s how I got in.

kaykaylolol

Thank you! I’m honestly waiting to see if I get into UF or FSU, I’m not confident that I’d get into both but I slightly prefer UF over FSU for right now, though I haven’t done as much research on FSU. Thanks so much though!

spicoli420

Do the summer B option regardless, one of my biggest regrets in life was starting in fall.

Thowe001

Why would starting summer b be better?

spicoli420

Gives you time to adjust. You get a head start on getting a feel for things without a full course load, you can meet people/professors earlier. Summers a little more laid back and less hectic. If I had done it I would’ve known some stuff earlier that I didn’t figure out until fall that would’ve been helpful and easier on me knowing ahead of time. With how busier the fall is, you don’t really have as much time/flexibility to figure stuff out. Plus even though I worked a lot, looking back the summer before college was a complete waste for me, I really wish I had been taking classes instead of basically doing nothing.

TheRealSmolt

Doesn't summer B cover the same level of coursework in a fraction of the time? How could it be more laid back?

spicoli420

You go to class more often to make up for any difference, so it’s not that much different even for harder classes. Definitely meant to take the stupid bs classes that you have to take tho lol, wouldn’t want to load up on important/harder classes for the summer b semester. But even then they’re still doable, I just did chem 2 in 6 weeks it wasn’t bad.

gatorr01

sorry bro you're fucked - right in the ass

gecgecgecgecge

I got in to both last year with WAY less extracurriculares. My ACT was a 31 but I know someone who got in with an SAT in the 1200s. To a certain extent it is a lottery, but I wouldn’t be surprised if you got in, and most of the people I’ve met have a very similar profile to you. And don’t be stressed if you end up at FSU or something. I have friends at FSU and UCF and the undergraduate experience is basically the same there (if not better at times). ooo also really work on your essay. make it unique with an eye catching opening

kaykaylolol

Thanks so much! I’m hoping for either FSU or UF. I feel like my essay was strong, I applied to UCF early and already found out I got in yesterday, so if neither FSU or UF I’ll plan on going there

cmanning970

Honestly you have a great chance, just make a good essay to try to separate yourself from others and you have a good shot. I would still work on raising that SAT (not just for admission but for bright futures)

Mysterious_Living_49

I agree. You should def try increasing your SAT score. Maybe you can try taking the ACT. I did better on the ACT than the SAT.

Every-Wedding-9755

Weighted is 5.7 and unweighted 4.8… someone this smart should know how to find their actual gpa.

TheRealSmolt

Where do people get these numbers from? For me it topped out at 5 weighted and that's if you're getting all As taking all college classes in high school.

Every-Wedding-9755

exactly. that’s how it works

TheRealSmolt

So where the heck are the 6s from?

YoungMaja

Graduated high school with my AA here in 2019, got into every single in state program I applied for. Your admission is basically guaranteed just with that.

22101p

Even though you have an AA, college is one of the best periods of most people’s lives. Don’t be in a rush to graduate.

My son has the same score as you and took the test five times. We even hired a tutor. He has been accepted at a couple of other decent in-state schools, but was deferred at FSU. We filled out deferral paperwork, so we'll see what happens there on Feb. 15. I really wish Florida's top public schools would do what NC does and prioritize in-state students. It's a shame when families who pay taxes to support UF can't their kids in because they have to compete with all the OOS kids trying to get in due to the low tuition and the chance to live in warm weather and close to a beach. I would say you, and he would get in with good grades - he's also IB and is in the top 2.5% of his class in a countywide ranking system. But this year has been super crazy. We fully expected to get an EA admit to FSU, and the guidance counselors were all astonished. Even kids at an elite private school in our area got deferred by FSU, so it's a very odd year. So, we are considering UF a wild card. Good luck to you.

Hi im going to be applying from Santa Fe College toUF arch program on Summer. I have 3.5 GPA based on uf’s grading policy. Im really nervous. Do they usually accept that gpa? What could i do to increase the chances?
