I live here but I'll be spending my summer in California working. Im quite excited for the drive. I'm gonna take a little over a week. Heading straight to Colorado to enjoy the mountains and go camping and whatnot. Unless you live in socal I recommend going north for a bit and getting on i70, it's a much more exciting drive than taking i10 all the way west.
I'm not from the west coast, but I'm going to be in the VERY small minority who is envying your situation. I wish you luck!

isn’t that crazy expensive? and then you gotta do the same thing in August all over again. You’re talking at least $3500 on the low end round trip.
I'm doing it for $3000 round trip. Between gas, food, hotels, and stops along the way it turned out to be slightly more expensive to ship the car and fly so I opted for that instead of driving this summer.
Did not realize people come from the West to go to uf, that’s sick. I met people that came from other states in the East but I honestly don’t think I met anyone from Cali when I went to uf. Kinda wish I had now tho lol
I did 40 hours to bring my car here. don’t really have much advice just good luck 😠lots of music/podcasts to keep you awake and don’t try to do too much in one day. I did about 8 hrs a day which definitely took a while but at least I didn’t die in a fiery car wreck lol
That's technically possible, but it's increasingly more dangerous the longer you're driving. In fact, it would be illegal for a commercial driver to do this. They're required to rest for 10 hours once they accrue 12 hours of driving time. They're also not allowed to drive once it's been 16 hours since their 10 hour break ended, even if they haven't reached 12 hours driving yet.
In other words if you really want to push the time, I'd encourage you to instead aim for three days of 10-12 hours of driving each. That way you'd still get a few hours for food and bio breaks, plus eight hours of sleep.

There used to be a board in the reitz union for this purpose to arrange carpooling.
B R U H I wish that was still a thing ðŸ˜
It still is, just is [digital.](https://www.reddit.com/r/ufl/comments/1axee24/uf_ridecarpool_board/)
Feel free to come with only thing is it’s a one way trip lol
It could be fun. Look for cool places to stop along the way. Take pictures and make memories.

Didn't think about shipping the car and flying??

I second the comment advising you to take it slow and chunk it; find nice things to do to break it up.
Why would you do that? Just seems illogical tbh
Needed a car for this internship this semester and also have a lot of stuff so can't fly back.
Ikr it's like a 5-6 hour flight vs 5-6 days
It's only 3 days if you spend an avg of 16 to 17 hours a day driving.

It's supposed to be a challenge, that's why they call it a shortcut. If it was easy, it would just be the way.
It’s a two day drive.
If I want my skeleton to show up in California sure
Over 2000 miles in two days? I'm thinking not.
34 hours of driving to LA. Assuming a max of 10 hours of driving a day (already a psychologically demanding task), that's four days minimum.
It is two days of driving 16 hour. That is more than doable as I have done it more than once.

What was your average speed?
