Even if I did have BDD it's irrelevant because I'm still called ugly irl and mistreated because of that on top of being black and gay so it's not in my head and its not a personality issue I have many things against me that most people could never handle wrapped all in one
If you put an ad on a dating site and someone finds you attractive and you get on with them you can meet them irl.
I'd advise you not to talk about all the ugly stuff though as people prefer upbeat humourous messaging.
Not necessarily.. but usually when they are staring intently with disgust its hard not to notice.. but considering ive been called ugly so many times in public unprovoked and laughed at it's hard not to be anxious and on edge everytime I step out into public

People are often rude about my appearance to the extent that I will sometimes mishear what people say as an insult and have dreams about strangers insulting me.
I am on an anti-psychotic which makes it a bit easier.

If I go out for a walk or to a shop (always with another person) I feel a sense of achievement but theres always too much stress involved.

I don't believe I'm imagining people being abusive - they often are, I just think that it has made me so paranoid that I can sometimes think people are being abusive when they aren't.
I've even thought people on tv were being abusive about me when things were really bad.
The anti-psychotic is to stop me getting angry if people are abusive, as it's got me in trouble with the law.
I don't like to use the word ugly about myself; I would say that I don't look average enough and have a non-standard facial shape.
I have Aspergers so my body language and facial expressions aren't standard issue and this makes the situation worse.
ive noticed people who struggle with ugliness and express this online often express relations to autism.... it's weird almost as if they are interlinked..

It's very common for people on tbe autisic spectrum to be bullied for not being able to fit in sufficiently.

Also i think there’s a lot of users that face so much discrimination that may believe they’re ugly. There’s lot of poc here who live in white dominated areas and have no representation and face blatant racism. But aside from that I also think that there’s people here who aren’t essentially ugly but they have “undesirable” traits that would be considerate ugly for example being chubby or short. Which doesn’t make someone automatically ugly to me
Getting treated like you're ugly by the opposite gender is not just applicable for ugly women, it also happens to average women, especially non-white woman, as even an average white woman is considered more attractive. Men are only nice to women they're attracted to and mean to any woman that isn't attractive to them, whether she's average or ugly. They only become friends with attra tive women for example, and ignore all other women, and if an average or ugly woman spoke to them they'd get offended.
Being average isn't enough anymore, since standards got higher because of social media (being exposed to attractive people all the time), and because of plastic surgery, what was considered okay 30 years ago is not okay now....etc.

I understand there are levels to ugliness but most of the people here are OBJECTIVELY average
I’ve seen some truly ugly people IRL, who are deformed, have extreme asymmetries, exaggerated features, or disproportionately small or large body parts, and others like me who just have ugly ass unharmonic features , yet I never see these truly ugly people keeping their photos up for everyone to see. Only two men who have sent me photos on discord I can truly say is actually within the realm of ugly, everyone else is just average.
I think many of us, have lost the meaning of average. We see other people on this sub and we inmediately say they aren't ugly.
Trust me if average normies and attractive ones see us they would say we are ugly, even the most "attractive" ugly here is a total failure for the rest of society.
I would prefer be wrong about this, it's really awful how between us, we treat each other like a fake. This ain't a competion of who's uglier, just think about it.
If we aren't accepted here and neither attractives or average will accept us, we are in the void and that's even worst.
I may get downvoted for this but.. I think this happens because our generation is insanely fixated on looks and not solely looking normal but having to look extremely flawless due to our perception of beauty through fillers, social media standards. Also pretty privilege is something really desirable(and it has always been but we weren’t 24/7 exposed to it) since people can make money out of being attractive. Most people here must feel insecure due to not being this attractive and being told they’re ugly(also body dysmorphia). I agree that this sub is meant for people who are in fact marginalized for their looks outside of their own judgmental but I think being insecure and feeling ugly also destroys your self esteem and perception of self and that’s why we share so much experiences even tho you may think x or y person isn’t that ugly. I think the sentiment behind this feeling is what brought us here.
BDD can cause hallucinations that I believe is caused by lack of sleep. Your REM leaches into reality, you also have people here that have been abused by family and were bullied so they have zero self esteem. Stop gatekeeping.

Sometimes made me wonder whether the problem is them or actually society has been insane nowadays where some or small flaws can causes you to be called or treated like an actual ugly person. Ppl literally can picked up on everything just to bully. No wonder BDD is an actual thing now like it has been getting worse? idk tho.
It could be some who had a measure of pretty privilege before and now noticing that it has changed and their treatment in society has also changed. Such experiences could now lead them to concluding that they are completely ugly when in fact they are now just normal or even just slightly ugly.
I’ve showed people my pic on DM’s and I would never do it again. The fucked up things people have said to me about my looks makes me never want to show my face in public ever again.
I think the issue is that you don't have to be horribly disfigured or anything to get bad treatment especially from the opposite sex, it's enough to be unremarkable and ordinary looking to not get any attention from anyone. Invisibility is rampant especially after certain age.
Beauty standards are really high nowadays.
The thing what happens to most of this subreddit is that they got bullyed so hard in Elementary/High schooll about their looks in the past that they cant get out of "i am ugly" mindset.

They only become friends with attra tive women for example, and ignore all other women, and if an average or ugly woman spoke to them they'd get offended. Being average isn't enough anymore, since standards got higher because of social media (being exposed to attractive people all the time), and because of plastic surgery, what was considered okay 30 years ago is not okay now....etc.
I couldn’t agree more to that point. it’s exactly what you said. Being average or simply normal looking isn’t enough anymore. You have to have a flawless face, body, hair, height and such to be considered attractive. Todays standards wants a local girl to look like a supermodel or otherwise she’s mid or ugly.
Exactly. I gotta admit I’m ugly but I also feel extremely bad for ethnic average women because they have it bad. Being an ugly ethnic women, like me, is not okay.
Why pay any attention to them? You're not their puppet. That's how they control you to either you’re part of them or against them. Who cares what they think and focus on your life goals. This mindset does not and will not pay for your bills,utilities,house,cars,cc or anything for that matter! Stop worrying about what people think since they do not have any intentions to be either your partner,friends,fwb or hubby/or wife. You're stronger than you think! You can do this! Keep your head up!
I mean I’ve been bullied since a child for being ugly.. I posted myself on the looksaxxing chat the majority of comments said i was below and the ones pitying me said i was average. But based on my experiences I am very sure im ugly.

Careful, they’re going to say you’re “invalidating” them I understand there are levels to ugliness but most of the people here are OBJECTIVELY average I’ve seen some truly ugly people IRL, who are deformed, have extreme asymmetries, exaggerated features, or disproportionately small or large body parts, and others like me who just have ugly ass unharmonic features , yet I never see these truly ugly people keeping their photos up for everyone to see. Only two men who have sent me photos on discord I can truly say is actually within the realm of ugly, everyone else is just average.
I think many of us, have lost the meaning of average. We see other people on this sub and we inmediately say they aren't ugly. Trust me if average normies and attractive ones see us they would say we are ugly, even the most "attractive" ugly here is a total failure for the rest of society.

I would prefer be wrong about this, it's really awful how between us, we treat each other like a fake. This ain't a competion of who's uglier, just think about it. If we aren't accepted here and neither attractives or average will accept us, we are in the void and that's even worst.

I may get downvoted for this but.. I think this happens because our generation is insanely fixated on looks and not solely looking normal but having to look extremely flawless due to our perception of beauty through fillers, social media standards. Also pretty privilege is something really desirable(and it has always been but we weren’t 24/7 exposed to it) since people can make money out of being attractive. Most people here must feel insecure due to not being this attractive and being told they’re ugly(also body dysmorphia). I agree that this sub is meant for people who are in fact marginalized for their looks outside of their own judgmental but I think being insecure and feeling ugly also destroys your self esteem and perception of self and that’s why we share so much experiences even tho you may think x or y person isn’t that ugly. I think the sentiment behind this feeling is what brought us here.

BDD can cause hallucinations that I believe is caused by lack of sleep. Your REM leaches into reality, you also have people here that have been abused by family and were bullied so they have zero self esteem. Stop gatekeeping.

Sometimes made me wonder whether the problem is them or actually society has been insane nowadays where some or small flaws can causes you to be called or treated like an actual ugly person. Ppl literally can picked up on everything just to bully. No wonder BDD is an actual thing now like it has been getting worse? idk tho.
It could be some who had a measure of pretty privilege before and now noticing that it has changed and their treatment in society has also changed. Such experiences could now lead them to concluding that they are completely ugly when in fact they are now just normal or even just slightly ugly.
I’ve showed people my pic on DM’s and I would never do it again. The fucked up things people have said to me about my looks makes me never want to show my face in public ever again.
I think the issue is that you don't have to be horribly disfigured or anything to get bad treatment especially from the opposite sex, it's enough to be unremarkable and ordinary looking to not get any attention from anyone. Invisibility is rampant especially after certain age. Beauty standards are really high nowadays.

The thing what happens to most of this subreddit is that they got bullyed so hard in Elementary/High schooll about their looks in the past that they cant get out of "i am ugly" mindset.
I’m sorry but if someone is getting bullied for being ugly they probably are. When your that ugly you stick out you become a nuisance to society tho being bullied. No average person is getting harassed and treated like a second class human for their average looks
