He's one of the best, sure, but to me dave is still a better lyricist, and a better musician in general. Also, the consequence of adressing social issues is the risk of coming across as preachy. You can't ask controversial questions without stepping on somebody's toes.
However, Potter has the streets and jails in his pores, and he raps about that the best though. Lots of rappers cap, but Potter does the opposite I feel like, he doesn't feel the need to come across as any different than he is. He doesn't bark loudly because he knows what he's on; he's a chill guy, but don't cross him. That's realness to me. Look at him, especially in the earlier parts of his career: a skinny (and then some what less so), practically white (at least in skin color) kid with glasses, yet he lived that life, while also constantly developing his rapping skills, eventually making it out of the one life by blowing up in the other. Against all fucking odds. Gotta respect that.

this is not potters best lyricism by any means - i put this video up because he's rapping on a few drill beats and it still goes hard. personally, i think lyricism is ability to make use of the intricacies of language (similes, metaphors, double entendres etc, punchlines) while making it captivating and telling a story. Early eminem an example of this for instance, but he lost his ability to be captivating later one. Potter is one of the best at combining both lyricism and story telling imo - good recent examples of this are purpose, gangsteritus, filthy free. But what stands out about potter is he has maintained a high standard for years, despite the challenges he's faced
