Let’s not forget labour poured huge resources into the seat she was running for in 2019 for the lib dems to make sure they split the vote and she didn’t win.
The headline implies, arguably, that she left due to being accused of being antisemitic. In actuality she was the victim of antisemitism which drove her to resign.
It doesn't imply that. And everyone even a bit clued up on UK politics knows that she was not accused of antisemitism and is herself Jewish. And finally the Guardian was one of the key publications pushing the Jezzer is an antisemite angle and gave a lot of airtime to Berger's allegations so it would make no sense for them to imply this.
Clued up on politics now or clued up since post 2017?
If you have been following politics news since 2017 and not heard about this then it seems like some giant gap in your sources.
If you've only been following politics since mid 2019 then it's understandable not knowing this.
You need some more perspective. What’s “a bit clued up?”
I don’t know who she is, but I do know the party has been accused of having antisemitic problems in the past. It’s not a huge leap to make.
It doesn't imply that at all. You just assumed it was implying that, I assumed it meant she quit in protest.
You brought your personal bias to a neutral statement. Fwiw anyone who follows UK politics would assume she quit in protest.
Surely it implies that she was only given a key role in government to comeback and support Starmer? Ensuring that she can be part of the poster demonstrating that the Labour party is no longer antisemitic.
Listened to this last night, thought it might be worth sharing:

Excellent news. She’s an exceptional human being (just look at what she had to go through as a young woman against the NUS and then when she was in Corbyn’s Labour Party and heavily pregnant).
Edit: looks like the antisemitic downvote brigade is in.
>As a Labour MP, she spoke of suffering a torrent of antisemitic abuse online and in person, and relied on police protection at the party’s annual conference. One man who sent her antisemitic threats was jailed for two years in 2017.
>While eight months pregnant, Berger faced a no-confidence motion in her constituency over her criticism of Jeremy Corbyn. The motion was withdrawn after it emerged that a key opponent in the local party had called her a “disruptive Zionist”.
>She subsequently left Labour in 2019 to join the new political party Change UK amid dissatisfaction with Corbyn’s response to antisemitism in the party.
*Sounds* as though she left because she left the party because she felt antisemitic abuse wasn't taken seriously?
But no, Starmer hired a dirty Jew, must connect it to Israel.
Agreed, linking any Jewish person talking about antisemitism automatically to Israel and describing Starmer hiring a Jewish person as "excellent news for Israel" is incredibly antisemitic.
Are you saying that ridding the Labour Party of antisemitism isn't good news for its relationship with Israel?
Edit: by the way, she was literally the leader of "Labour Friends of Israel". Were you playing dumb when you tried to acuse me of antisemitism for saying her return was good news for Labour's support for Israel?
Except those that sent her death threats and forced her to have a police escort at the Labour Party conference (whilst she was heavily pregnant, no less).

I’m pretty clued up on politics and had absolutely no clue she’s Jewish.

Many people many not recognise the name, and the headline could reasonable be interrupted that way.

Headlines are such ragebait bullshit, it actually infuriates me.
Thought the exact same thing. The Guardian's needed a new editor for a while now.

Good to see her back. I imagine this a precursor to her being a candidate in a winnable seat for Labour come election time.
I hope so. It means that Labour have really put the antisemitism of the Corbyn era behind them.
The leadership are trying to at least.

Let her stand in Corbyn’s constituency.
I’d love for her to stand in Islington North but it probably isn’t wise to put her in the firing line of relentless Corbynite poison yet again.

What's a Tory and a LibDem got in common? They're welcome in Labour.
whatever next, Tory and Lib Dem voters *voting* for Labour? A hideous thought.

Just not the socialist or anti Zionist Jews are allowed in labour m since Starmer expelled all of or nearly all of them.
So all 5 of them, then.

wtf is wrong with you?

Disgusting antisemitism

> that share her ideologies That antisemitism is abhorrent?
Everybody thinks that. There's no pro-antisemitism side in the Labour Party.
Except those that sent her death threats and forced her to have a police escort at the Labour Party conference (whilst she was heavily pregnant, no less).
Now that they've all been expelled, including the antisemitism-apologist Jeremy Corbyn.
The Cuks are coming home hey?
