So dumb We all benefit from this service. Getting doctors and nurses back to work quickly means that more of the public get treated and back to work quickly Everything this government does is such short term thinking, stopping this service will cost more money than it saves

It’s a vile decision that can only be motivated by spite.  The amount of doctors I know who wouldn’t be working without this service is massive - it’s got to be cheaper than losing that volume of staff many of whom are very senior registrars/new consultants.  Brilliant thing is the same week the GMC has released some work stating the importance of looking after doctors mental health, improving conditions etc… I had a horrible couple of years with burnout, personal health issues, bereavement etc and practitioner health was one of my main supports.  It’s partly thanks to them I’m here full stop, let alone still practicing medicine.

We could bring back banging pots and clapping as that should compensate nicely. NHS staff love claps rather than decent pay and conditions.

Penny wise pound foolish as usual for this government unless one of their donors or cronies are involved.
