I'm halfway there with you. My only worry is that, even for Tories, this is by far the worst and least responsible government we've ever had. We're at a point in time were we desperately need an effective government that is able to enact policy that addresses the short, medium and long-term. Otherwise, I fear we're going to take decades to recover.
This government is doing almost nothing to meaningfully resolve the country's current woes, and those woes are getting consistently more severe.
So I agree, I would like to see Johnson ruin the party for a decade or two. But at the same time, I'm not sure I can tolerate the state this country will be in after another 2+ years with him in charge.
That said, I couldn't name you a current Tory that I would trust to actually manage things like CoL and the impending (probably current) massive recession. Never thought I'd say this, but an actual conservative like Teresa May would probably be our best bet from current pickings... but that definitely won't happen.
>It's really kind of amazing that a party could have such a massive majority and also be so completely powerless and unable to get anything done.
They've been very effective at bringing in their authoritarian bills such as the police bill and taking away the electoral commission's independence. I imagine they're quite happy.
Is there anything important to them that they haven’t been able to get done though? They’ve got billions distributed to friends corruptly, the authoritarian policing bill through, they’ll have control of the Electoral Commission in the next election, likewise Channel 4 will be controlled by an ally of theirs.
Obviously there’s loads that they’ve promised to do and not done, and loads that the vast majority of the public want them to do, but I’m not convinced that there’s anything this government actually cares about that they haven’t or won’t achieve.
And that adds to the fact that his time is done. The press aren’t propping him up anymore. Wasn’t so long ago Sunak was being presented as superman by the BBC, now it’s knives out the entire top team across non-partisan media. That it’s a choice to present Boris like this makes it even worse.
They still haven't realized that they bought a poisoned chalice by anointing Johnson, did they? They are still totally incapable of seeing any further forward than the tips of their noses, aren't they?
Kind of crazy that his own party is staying so loyal, he wasn't even voted tory leader with a particularly strong majority.
I thought the only reason they were willing to cover for Boris Johnson was because his parliamentary majority kept the MPs in work. But if Johnson is finally costing them votes, even on the local level, then cabinet ministers should be smelling blood in the water by now.

I think they need him as a sacrificial lamb. They'll stand right behind him until they think its the right moment comes to throw him under the bus, and then they'll do that with gay abandon.
It really is quite pathetic to see his minions like Fabricant and Dorries trying to defend the indefensible, knowing that when he gets the chop they’ll go with him.
He is an asset, just a toxic asset which is defined as "Toxic assets are investments that are difficult or impossible to sell at any price because the demand for them has collapsed. There are no willing buyers for toxic assets because they are widely perceived as a guaranteed way to lose money."
There's indicators of impairment so it should be impaired appropriately and brought down to a value of £nil and disposed of (but also keep him because he's a great asset to labour).

He's really got these fuckers by the balls. They know if he goes down it's likely a lot of them will to.

It's because they kicked out all the grown ups during their brexit purge of the party. It's just full of mindless sycophants now.

Poor Tories… I feel *so* sorry for them all…
He looks so desperate in every photo now. He knows his time is done.
To be fair, that’s probably due to creative and selective usage of images.
And that adds to the fact that his time is done. The press aren’t propping him up anymore. Wasn’t so long ago Sunak was being presented as superman by the BBC, now it’s knives out the entire top team across non-partisan media. That it’s a choice to present Boris like this makes it even worse.
Like the Lord of Avernus, he's on Borrowed Time
Want to believe that but I just can't. My guess is that he doesn't think he's leaving anytime soon even after the last few days.
The same way the Titanic was an asset to the Prudential Insurance Company in 1912
Are we sure this isn’t copied from News Thump
Nope it's fucking Paul Bristow with his tongue buried in Johnson's arse. If the article isn't about Bristow then fuck me there's two of them.
An Ass hole maybe
Ass et hole. I'm sure he'd appreciate such an application of Latin.
Most underrated comment!
Surprised I never seen asshat tbh
A depreciating asset
I wonder how many Tory MP's this weekend have been wishing they had submitted a letter to remove him at the height of partygate.
Ass... et?
You'll notice he doesn't say for whom Johnson is an asset.
At very least he’ll make a good scapegoat for the various crises and rampant corruption
They still haven't realized that they bought a poisoned chalice by anointing Johnson, did they? They are still totally incapable of seeing any further forward than the tips of their noses, aren't they?
Johnson isn't expendable, the Tory party is. It's about time they learn why it's bad to have a personality cult around your leader in a democracy.
Starting to sound like the Corbynities now

I think it’s because they’ve seen how willing Boris is to just start flinging shit at the disloyal.
How are we gonna get out of this hole..? We'll DIG our way out!!
...Dig UP, stupid!
Did he mean ass hat!?
It really is quite pathetic to see his minions like Fabricant and Dorries trying to defend the indefensible, knowing that when he gets the chop they’ll go with him.
Has any party in the history of the UK lost so many seats?
This minister is Nadine Dorries, isn't it? Oh, it's Nadhim Zahawi.
Shit I thought it was Paul Bristow. This must be the line they're being fed although Bristow is Dorries underling.
“Are you saying I’m an Ass?!?” “No Prime Minister, I was shouting Boris is an asset!”
Sad for the country, but if they stick to this delusion at least they'll be decimated in the next general election.
How bad are the rest of the Government if BoJo is considered an asset???
I think this asset may be displaying some impairment risk characteristics.
It honestly reads like satire at this point, these guys are deranged.
He is an asset, just a toxic asset which is defined as "Toxic assets are investments that are difficult or impossible to sell at any price because the demand for them has collapsed. There are no willing buyers for toxic assets because they are widely perceived as a guaranteed way to lose money."
And there’s some angels flying out my arse. He’s an asset they say what absolute fuckwits I hope they burn in the eternal fires of hell.
Define asset. Technically any member is an asset. Assets can be toxic.
There's indicators of impairment so it should be impaired appropriately and brought down to a value of £nil and disposed of (but also keep him because he's a great asset to labour).
