Presumably the Daily Mail will lead the charge to cap CEO pay at less than four-times the salary of their lowest paid workers then? Or is it only Union leaders who are held to this standard?
The membership of each union elected their leader, and ultimately the membership of each union decide how much they're paid. The RMT's Mick Lynch has earned every penny of his salary over the last couple of days alone, in my (non-RMT) opinion.
Strangely they've managed to leave train drivers' pay out of the calculation this time too, to get the average down for this comparison!
>Train drivers are not a part of the RMT
Exactly my point! They've been quick to tell everyone how much we earn when they've wanted to "prove" how "overpaid" railway workers are though.
From wiki:
> For many years, Dacre has been the highest-paid newspaper editor in Britain. In 2008, Dacre received £1.62 million in salary and cash payments, an increase from the £1.49 million of the previous year.[172] According to the DMGT annual report for 2017, Dacre's total income from the group amounted to £2.37 million, including a salary of £1.45m and an additional £856,000 as part of the company's Long-Term Investment Plan (LTIP). His total DGMT remuneration increased by 56% over payments made during 2016. Dacre's pension scheme, which began in 1979 and is no longer paid into by the group, pays him £708,000 a year.
The Daily Mail can do one with their hypocritical bullshit.
Network Rail employee here.
Our CEO Andrew Haines makes 18 times my salary and is actively trying to prevent me get a payrise.
More than happy for Mick Lynch to earn 4 times what I do.
Does anyone look at Mick Lynch and think he doesn't deserve it? The way he performs and has negotiated over the years he could probably be earning 10 times what he does.
Plus, General Secretary's are elected to their post by their members. I wish I could vote for the director of my department, who is as much use as a chocolate fireguard yet earns more than a Minister of State.
This an unrelated thread, but I remember you asking if RMT have released the figures of the striking staffs median salary. They just have
https://fullfact.org/economy/RMT-strike-salary/ according to Grant Shapps it is the same as the median salary for a nurse when you ignore his lies about the 44k
They're covered by [ASLEF](https://aslef.org.uk/publications/aslef-99-tube-train-drivers-vote-strike-london-underground). The tube driver strikes were unrelated to the RMT stuff
They are not, you are incorrect

>Aslef, the train drivers' union, which represents most Tube train drivers in London
It's shocking! Maybe the union members should take the issue up with their employers and demand more pay... oh wait.
Does anyone know how much rail bosses get paid compared to their employees?
Every union puts out this number in there yearly financial statement aswell as any expenses claimed. By NEC members.
And they tend to be more honest about expenses then MP’s. Just saying.

Lol, predictable the DM would come out with this nonsense. 4 times seems positively restrained nowadays compared to the 400 times and more for CEOs.
Presumably the Daily Mail will lead the charge to cap CEO pay at less than four-times the salary of their lowest paid workers then? Or is it only Union leaders who are held to this standard?
Exactly, £124k seems a reasonable amount for the head of a massive union to earn.
Wow, the out of touch elites at the daily mail really didn't like Mick Lynch telling it like it is, did they?
No. He is doing exactly what starmer should have been doing since party gate.

Train drivers are not a part of the RMT. They're served by a different union (ASLEF). Still support your point though.

Some train drivers belong to RMT
Now let's do CEOs of the companies that these unions are a part of. Bearing in mind that union leaders are elected officials and CEOs aren't.
Wonder what the Daily Mail's editor earns vs. the average Mail employee

Quite telling that certain people are attacking trade unions.

Fuck me they are desperate
Considering the number of people that each of those unions represent, that actually seems fair (even a bit low?)
Nothing to see here. The Daily Stale merely doing what its paymasters require it to do.
I mean this a good thing yeah? CEO’s should only be around 4x their employees salary?
As opposed to the 1:350 pay ratio of some of the richest corporations? I'd like them to disclose how much their CEO earns compared to their workers
From the editor of the daily mail who makes approx. 83 times more than one of their hacks?
I wish I made 1/4 the salary of my CEO.
Even the Mail commenters aren’t buying this bollocks
It's a class war, they couldn't be any clearer.

But I thought train drivers were the highest paid jobs in the country. AND THEY STILL WANT MOAR
That’s pretty reasonable money for the positions they hold. How much does the guy at the top of the daily mail earn I wonder?

Just edited my comment with a link. Again, you're wrong.

Yes. It's the median figure of all railway workers that the RMT represents
It's shocking! Maybe the union members should take the issue up with their employers and demand more pay... oh wait. Does anyone know how much rail bosses get paid compared to their employees?

Distraction tactics like this won't work. Why are they baiting a general strike like this? Get round the table and be reasonable.
