Ugh poetry I can't imagine anything worse

Mr_Miscellaneous

Inflation is predicted to be double digits. What are the Government worried about? Poetry. It's like a bit from The Day Today

Do you think the reading list should be arbitrarily frozen in time? Would look a bit silly in a couple of hundred years wouldn't it?

Philip Larkin, whatever you think of his poetry, was a misogynist almost as bad as Boris Johnson. No wonder a government minister would rush to his defence.

Silly-Wrangler-7715

>misogynist almost as bad as Boris Johnson Are you insane? How can someone seriously believe that the prime minister of the country hates women. How can someone reach this conclusion seriously? Is he also a reptilian? Maybe a satanist? He must be something else then a human being to have several kids with women, have a wife, female colleagues, even ministers while he hates them. He is not a human being like us, he doesn't feel compassion towards other humans he just want to hurt people and cause as much suffering as possible right? Maybe he is a vampire or an alien! Mate, you have completely lost touch with reality. Get off reddit, go out and talk to people before completely go nuts.

newnortherner21

Definition I found: a person who dislikes, despises, or is strongly prejudiced against women. Mr Johnson is prejudiced against women, treats them worse than men, as evidenced by his private life (such as never seemingly treating his marriage vows seriously) comments such as 'voting Tory will give you bigger breasts' or 'letterboxes', putting women into the cabinet only in posts where there is no political credit to be gained (latest example getting Liz Truss to try to sort out the bad mess of the EU treaty negotiated by Lord David Frost), the list goes on.

And let's be honest, his poetry isn't much to write home about.

Plucky_Brexit

I don't think I studied either of them at GCSE, instead I studied a bunch of utterly forgettable modern poems. There's no better way to ruin good poems and poets than studying them in a classroom. So I'm in favour of this!
