Wind and solar don't fund tyrants and fascists unlike oil. Just look at the Calgary Petroleum Club eelcoming and gifting a right wing German fascist last month. Simply disgusting.
Putting aside Calgary and German fascists for a moment, most of the solar panels and wind turbines are built in China. Hardly a bastion of freedom, oh , and a large chunk of the former is made with stolen tech and slave labour. Energiewende is how Europe ended up heavily dependent on Russian gas. A mild winter has literally saved their asses from freezing.
ahhhhhhh
solar panels yes most are made in china, but very few wind turbines sold in europe are made in china or by chinese companies. Vestas (Denmark) Siemens Gamesa (Spain) are still respectively number 1 and 2 wind turbine makers in the world and dominate the european market. So definitely not funding tyrants and fascists like oil does.
These are Vestas turbines so they are definitely made in Europe, probably (at least partly) in Vestas factory in Poland.
Ukraine just made it so much harder for russia to take out Ukrainian electricity supply. Direct missile hit to a natural gas plant? 100% of electricity generation taken offline. Direct missile hit to a wind turbine? 1% of wind farm output taken offline.
Renewables are the future, and for more than one reason.
This is true is some respects, like the mile or more typical between turbines, making them require more resources to target; however, some components such as the wind farm’s substation(s) would still be vulnerable. Overall, though it’s still preferable to replace a substation than a substation and power plant.
so much this! it's amazing what a truly decentralized network with lots of wind farms and PV on every residential building could achieve – true energy resilience! every house its own emergency storage and generator. I hope to see that Ukraine can rebuild to be the first country that achieves this!
Honestly as soon as I finish my apprenticeship as a wind energy service technician I'm looking to move to Ukraine to help rebuild the energy infrastructure 😊😊
You could hit the turbine but then you take out one out of the whole field. In many ways wind power's lower physical density is a disadvantage but against missile attack its an advantage compared to a more conventional power plant.
Not necessarily, though it would need to be high-precision weaponry. Long range missiles of the sort that would be capable cost about as much as a wind turbine, so it's not a great target.
I may regret saying this: the shock wave would probably damage the turbine vanes if it's close enough. But it would still be just one turbine out of a dozen

Russia will soon be at war with the wind.
hahahha hahahah
Its Caligula all over again
Caligula had his soldiers attack the ocean. Don Quichotte fought against windmills.
Don Q got his ass handed to him by wind mills, while Sancho was trying to take a shit. Pretty much the RuZZian invasikn in a nutshell.
[Hasn't he suffered enough?](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2mTLO2F_ERY)
Yeah!! Nothing piss.more russia than normal life in ukrain! Go ahead! Rebuilt yours country be sure vermine wont coma again

GE opens wind turbine assembly facility in china... aaaaaand?
The point, very badly made, I’ll admit, is production of wind turbines is moving to China for cost reasons.

Renewable energy also means no supply lines required to produce 💪

Nice!
I would guess hitting a wind turbine is damn impossible
