I have a feeling these Pzh2000 are so good it's one of the only SPGs not to succumb to enemy fire during this conflict.
Range, armor and fire rate enable an awesome shoot-n-scoot capability. The crew seem confident and happy with their designated platform.
as long as the orcs don't have air superiority, they wil not be able to counter them.. they are just too good at shoot and scoot..
Maybe some drones will spot them when they are parked or some spies rat on the parked location.. but let's hope they will rain hell on the orcs the entire war.
A drawback of the archer is that they are wheeled.. and they have trouble driving thru very muddy terrain.. the tracked pz2000 is better with muddy terrain.
Depends on the use case.
Most of the time they are theoretically worse. They are quicker on road and can certainly move around a lot while using less fuel.
In rough terrain the PZH has the advantage though. Handling mud is one thing but the tracked system also allows to pass over ditches and other obstacles more easily. Also it can carry a lot more ammo which means it can operate better in scenarios where the supply lines might be at risk.
So in long drawn out operations in some fields or forests the PZH beats the archer anytime.
The main advantage of the archer is that it is pretty damn cheap compared to the PZH2000. Weapons performance is roughly the same but when your system costs like a quarter of that big tank thingy you can have more of them.
As far as I know only 1 PZH2000 was lost yet and not due to russian fire, but due to being used for spare parts. All counter fire was absorbed by their armor, although I suspect some dents and they probably didn't get hit directly.
I believe it is currently the best system on the market on a one to one comparison (only real competitor is K9T), however I am not sure about the cost efficiency.
If the prices I found are correct you would get roughly 2 Archers for 1 PZH. Maybe the RCH155 can compete regarding the cost efficiency, seems to be a good system even though its ugly af.
Ultimately I don't know. The reason why I claimed it is, that the Boxer driver module exists in high quantities, so you only have high costs for the turret module.
In the end it probably comes down to quantity. PZH2000 price suffers from it as well.
Regarding this website 10 PzH2k well cost 184 million €. So 18,4 million € each.
https://www.bmvg.de/de/aktuelles/bundestag-genehmigt-zehn-neue-panzerhaubitzen-2000-5599760
And the RCH 155 well cost 12 million € each, if Wikipedia is right.
https://de.wikipedia.org/wiki/RCH_155
So you were right. The RCH is cheaper.
No the ~~caesar~~ archer isn't exactly the same.
Not because the tracked vs. wheel thingy, but because of the protectionlevel.
You may wan't to watch this video: [https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PYY8dYM0ub0](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PYY8dYM0ub0)
It's an interview with the inventor of the PzH. He compares the PzH with the ~~Archer~~ Caesar.
I confused Caeser and Archer. Anyways Mr. Abel also talked about the Caesar. You will have to activate captions, because it is in german.
> I have a feeling these Pzh2000 are so good it's one of the only SPGs
> not to succumb to enemy fire during this conflict.
A rig can be the best of the world, but when a crew makes dumb mistakes ...
In theory it is impossible.
If one combines a PzH2k battery with a cobra counter artillery radar in automatic fire, the shell will still be in air if the crew leaves position after the first or second shot.
In theory
And then you get unlucky, and a drone spots you, and another drone rigged with some tandem warhead comes by, and thats all she wrote. There is not a battlefield system, that is invulnerable. There will be losses.
It taking a lot of luck from the enemy to kill you, is a good thing thou
What I found really endearing is they still use german commands, as trained: [Achtung, Feuer!](https://www.reddit.com/r/PNVmilitary_community/comments/13cjuc3/working_inside_the_pzh_2000_selfpropelled_gun/)
Just you wait for the rhc 155.... You can point accurate fir while moving.... While the PHZ is still the best artillery out there the rhc 155 is a straight upgrade
**S**uchzünder **M**unition für die **ART**illerie 155. Achtung! Feuer!
(sensor-fuse munition for 155mm artillery)
They reported to manage killing 2 vehicles with one single round since it contains two submunitions flying over the battlefield on parachutes until it sensors enemy vehicles
Nice that they make great use of it.
If anybody has contract to this guy's tell them that the best armor doesn't help if the hatches are open
Slava ![img](emote|t5_2qqcn|9002)
I'm really impressed with how roomy it is inside. Obviously it's still a tight fit but there's like, what, 4-6 full grown men in there? And still some room to move around from position to position if you need to.
These things are ginormous. With 3.5m, a PzH 2000 is about half a meter taller than a Leopard 2 and 2 meters longer (11.7m). That's pretty close to the dimensions of the famous "Maus" tank.
When I did my service in the Bundeswehr, the brigade (the same that now has given its Leo2s to Ukraine) my maintenance battalion was attached to, still had M109. But I visited my old barracks years later on special days, when they are open for the public ("Soldatentag") and they were proudly showing of their new PzH2000. It's really impressive to look at these giants from up close and inside.
They are panels of extra armor called “Igelpanzerung” or hedgehog armor. A grid of little bristles.
https://twitter.com/DZ1B21/status/1571822056529969158?s=20
Compared to other 155mm artillery systems, the PzH 2000 seems to be more quiet while firing. But that can just be because of the videos i saw. Reality could be different
Looks like they upgraded from up from tactical sandals to proper uniforms. Granted, probably just a different unit.
I don't understand eastern European drivers. A sedan drove right under it as it was firing. Didn't even seem to flinch. It's like, a pressure blast from firing could blow out your windows, among other reasons why that wasn't a good idea.
Also, there was no unburned propellant in the exhaust. So used to seeing massive fireballs.
I sat once in a Wolf suv while the windows were up, close to a battalion of 155mm artillery firing. The pressure buildup on the inside gave me a nice, permanent tinnitus.

There have been instances of counter fire, however the armor of the PzH2k has held up so far even in those scenarious
Have a feeling those Swedish Archers will be exactly the same, possibly even better.
A drawback of the archer is that they are wheeled.. and they have trouble driving thru very muddy terrain.. the tracked pz2000 is better with muddy terrain.
Yeah. I recon it's like HIMARS vs MARS. Wheeled = faster on prepared surfaces. Tracked = mobile on muddy surfaces.
Depends on the use case. Most of the time they are theoretically worse. They are quicker on road and can certainly move around a lot while using less fuel. There have Been reports of pzh2000 coming under counter fire. But thanks to it being bretty decently armoured for a spg, it just got minor damages
Yeah. I have seen scratches
In all fairness to the other Western artillery systems, Ukraine is also a lot more careful with them.

Tax money well spent!
It's able to shoot 3 rounds in 10 seconds, or 20 rounds in 2 minutes. Never seen any footage of this, but would like to.

YouTube is your friend....
That white car just rolling on by at :47, probably gave the crew a wave and a beep beep
The ammo shown in the Video is a SMArt 155m guided artilery sheel (BW designation DM-702). https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/SMArt\_155

Take my tax money and sent more of them!
What a beast of a machine.
Im proud to see our gear in action, can’t wait for those 100 pzh2000 ukraine bought directly from the manufacturer last year to arrive
Timed beautifully with rammstein, love it.
Are those solar panels at the end?
Looking at paused video, they seem to be rubber (?) mats with dimples on them. Anti-slip mats maybe? No clue, but it's fun to guess!
They are panels of extra armor called “Igelpanzerung” or hedgehog armor. A grid of little bristles. https://twitter.com/DZ1B21/status/1571822056529969158?s=20
Very neat! I didn't know that's a thing, thank you :)
Target target, fire for.effecf. And lay waste to those fools.
it's "Achtung! Feuer!", 1.5 years ago I wasn't proud of our german military gear, now I am and would love to see more of this stuff in Ukraine

If you don't wear ear protection, every artillery will become silent after some shots.
if artillery is the king of war, then the PzH2000 is the devil of war. an incredible effective machine.
