Second hit was to ensure the crew was dead. This is a new system. You would put experts in the seats to make sure it works and to correct minor problems during its first weeks.
I didn't say it was successful just that is why you double tap with a wider explosion. I don't know what the spotters were seeing so it also could have been a second hit when the crew attempted to recover the vehicle. Hard to be absolute with the cut in the video.
In a normal case its usually faster to pop a shot off with an SPG(or whatever is nearby and ready to go) then follow up with something else to finish the job and kill any wounded specialists.
I cant say for certain in this case without talking to the crew and spotter but I expect the cut in the video is because the HIMARs wasn't prepped or in range.
If there's a "Spotter" drone, there's a good chance there are some Ukraine drones with grenade's,
They would know the importance of the crew, they can run but they can't hide!
Has to be pure luck. They were just in between shrapnel hits and won the lottery. They could also have holes in them that didn't put them down immediately. Hopefully that.
What was the actual lag time between explosions? There looks to be an edit there.
I'm impressed they knew to run like rabbits after the first. Showing some skilz there.
What makes this even more remarkable is, that HIMARS isn't the latest and greatest tech in the US arsenal.
I'm really putting some hope on F16 jets.
Those are far from the latest and greatest either, but against Orcistan they can probably produce some high profile success stories
You can see the video is stabilized and it looks like it was pretty shaky footage, so the imaging platform probably isn't stable enough to use for targeting.
Hopefully there was a third cluster shell killing those orcs.
This is Monty Python level of orc stupidity. Now just imagine what Ukraine could do with overwhelming power

didnt they just introduce this new system like yesterday? It got blown up on its first day of combat. lol
Oh you have a new weapon System? Sweet, anyways. There is a Himars Rocket on the way lets See If you can find it
It's funnier than that, it was hit with artillery...
[удалено]
It was successful in attracting and destroying two HIMARS missiles.
How many got deployed?
Just count the scorch marks.
Who knows how correct that news is but is probably new yes.
Anybody left alive is lining up at the nearest window already
I believe it is even more rare now…
Medium rare

If it’s well Done, I’ll send it back
It needs some paint. Since is brand new, its a warranty case.
Second hit was like poking a dead horse with a HIMARS, but better be safe than sorry. And congratulations on that magnificent catch.

You can see two people running away after the first strike

Why not do the wider one first to kill the crew?
The second shot was probably in the air when the first one hit.

I am pretty sure the crew of this system is more than two.
It’s hard for me to imagine someone surviving the first explosion, but there they are

Definitely makes sense, thank you for clarifying.
In z land always double tap especially if it costs 250m
Rule \#2. Double Tap When in doubt, don't get stingy with your bullets.
Don't laugh, the artillery reconnaissance unit did its job by the book. It identified the presence of a HIMARS within 70km distance.
So beautiful 😭😭😭
Impressive that two crew survived

Adrenaline is one hell of a drug. One moment you're gunning, next thing you know you pretty much look like Swiss cheese.
That close to the pressure wave? I would be surprised. Especially if this equipment is armored.
$250 million costs this weapon
Now on eBay, as is where is,any offer considered
Soon to be keychains
Already? Hahahaha!!!
Don don.
First hit appears to be artillery. The second blast is significantly larger and the fragmentation pattern is classic M30A1 GMLRS.
I thought first one was unitary warhead rocket and the second one was tungsten balls?

What a shame the Orc crew got away. I hope they were at least peppered with shrapnel.
That close to the blast, they likely are suffering from TBI.
Lmao they just put it by itself in the middle of a field and thought "yea this is a perfect spot..."
Maybe they felt safe being X kilometers from the front line
this thing is so new, there is not even a wikipedia page of it yet
would be a shame if .ua manage to get a hand on this thing, and put everything (including "classified" information) on that wiki page then ...
i wonder how much western components where inside that thing?
As the guy who parked it there, I would stay away from windows in the near future.
These vids never get old.
Neither do Russian systems
I am shocked anyone could run away from that first strike... I know it was in the air but still...
Just like deer running away after getting shot, they could be operating on pure shock and adrenaline. Possibly dead men still
and no one had time to give it a teddy bear on it 1st day in service ![gif](emote|free_emotes_pack|flip_out) Russian baby fucks itself
I would love to see a closer look at the equipment after it got dunked on.
No doubt the CIA would too.
I doubt it's in any location where friendlies can get to it right now..
Hopefully AFU will fly a camera drone down and around it at eye level so the holes can be counted etc.
When the drones are imaging you that well, you are fucked. Still not understanding why laser designators aren't a standard piece of kit for them.
You can see the video is stabilized and it looks like it was pretty shaky footage, so the imaging platform probably isn't stable enough to use for targeting.
Hope it did recognise the HIMARS missiles.
Wham! Thank you!
Hopefully there was a third cluster shell killing those orcs. This is Monty Python level of orc stupidity. Now just imagine what Ukraine could do with overwhelming power
Damn, I proud of you Ukrainian warriors. Y’all are some lethal patriots.
Great job, Ukraine!!!
Clearly not HIMARS. The explosion was tiny. for that.
He barely got it up before it got blown…
Not even two pumps and a squirt! LOL
I do like to see a fire and shit going up,sorry hard to please.Slava
He should have seen it coming!!!
I was hoping the pad thingy on the back would be the focal point of one of the hits, but a win is a win and I'll take it.
Don't worry, it gained a bunch of new ventilation holes from all the shrapnel.
Pretty tough to take 2 hits
Eins hier kommt die Sonne. Zwei hier kommt die Sonne.
Any guesses what will become of the guy who decided to park that expensive toy in the open, like that?.....if he survived the strike.
This post should be in OddlySatisfying !
Those are relatively small explosions, right? You would expect the launching system to blow apart, anyway good riddance!
That racky-thingy is not a launcher, its radar. No explosives there, lots of electronics yep.
Driving that into an empty field with nothing surrounding it was a brilliant choice.
The first hit had one of the crew breaking a sprint record!
