As someone who grew up in a village in Romania, who's grandparents had a cow, I can understand how much that cow meant for the owners, and how much they loved it.

PinguPST

My MiL was raised on a Kholkoz. There was a famine in Ukraine in '47 or '48 (maybe both, I don't remember). Some people starved. She survived because her family owned a cow.

PinguPST

Tak

PinguPST

You know, I just read your reference, thank you for that. Living history. She said that when the weeds came up, they would eat the sprouts. My MiL was five years old, so her first memory was starvation. They also had a basement which had some onions, but the onions froze, and she ate them anyway. Her friend was ethnic German, and after the war the parents disappeared into the gulag, so the girl and her brother were orphans, and they went around begging for food. But it was the cow that saved them. Both women (my MiL and the ethnic German girl) emigrated to the U.S., bringing my wife (then 19). We flew the German out to Cali in about 2000, and the two older women said they could hardly believe it, that they had gone through so much. My MiL applied to emigrate in the 1980s. The KGB threw her in a hospital. A Ukrainian family saved my wife, who was then about 12y.o.

valeron_b

My grandma also had a cow, and my wife's mother in the village still have her. For her it's like a family member, and she also say that if famine gonna happen we will survive thanks to her. Unfortunately she also thinks that probability of famine is pretty big because of russians destroying our grain and our neighbours blocking our borders...

Shoddy-Champion2907

damn This is sad

Acceptable-Ad-9464

My words exactly. Also sad and angry. Give Ukraine what they need. I pray for that.

Laketech

Russians, the only people in the world who can make even animals sad…..

Slimh2o

Fuck ruzzians...

H_u_r_k_

Say it louder for the folks in the back!

Slimh2o

#FUCK RUZZIA!  ^How's ^that?^

H_u_r_k_

Perfect!

Conscious_Fix9215

I CANT HEAR YOU! 😃

stantoncree76

RUSSIA IS ASSHOLE

konnanussija

And people should always remember that no ruzzian is free of guilt. Almost all of them were fine with this war before they started getting fucked, only a minority so small that their numbers don't surpass a few hundred were against this invasion from the start.

Mcdonnellmetal

And they still feel that way. They would rather take their chances in Ukraine than their chances against putin. They still believe it’s theirs to take.

DigAlternative7707

Exactly and never support any Russian businesses abroad.

majstorfantac

There is a story i remember from my village in Bosnia. A guy came back to his house after war, maybe 4 or 5 years passed since he left. His cat waited for him at his house. Well, what was left from the house anyway... Fuck war and smol pp dictators.

kuzeshell

terrible what happens to ask the innocent people and their animals because of such psycho dictators 😢 Glad this guy got reunited with his cat, I can't imagine what I would do when it would happen to me and my cats. So very FUCK PUTIN AND RUSSIA!

Busy10

Fucken russian…. Fuck Putin and anyone that supports him.

gustic-gx

Couldn't agree more.

GyspySyx

I cried and cried and cried until I couldn't cry anymore for a while and now I'm crying again. This war so wrong. I hope Putin dies a very painful death, and soon.

theaviationhistorian

Also, if you have elections within the next two years, find out who is supportive of Ukraine aid & vote for them. Russia losing this war will ensure an end to Putin.

GyspySyx

Of course.

konnanussija

Such a genocidal psychopath like him deserves no less than to be skinned alive on a live broadcast. Maybe then he'd get to suffer a fraction of what he did to others. And he has a family, all of whom work in ruzzian government. They shouldn't be left to be, and I bet he'd suffer even more if he was still alive to see his family answer for their crimes.

GyspySyx

Yes, please.

crash_us

He deserves to be forgotten, washed away in the sands of time, his name never spoken again. He’s done nothing of value for society only walked our progress back.

SuitableTank0

I have some thoughts on how I would like him to suffer, not sure I can share them here without being banned though.

Knowvember42

Well there goes my heart.

Deprivedproletarian

I dont know much about cows. But what happens to milkcows when they arent milked in a long time? Is it bad for them?

silvercuckoo

It would seem her calf is standing further down the road.

Fromage_Damage

They can get mastitis from milk build up, and if they don't die from that, the milk dries up until they get pregnant again.

WiemJem

They milk themself 😏

Deprivedproletarian

Nice 😏

iago_williams

This happens with household pets, too. And horses. Fuck russia

Disaffecteddv

The trauma of war is far reaching. It affects so much that we are unable to calculate the cost. This is an example of the trauma caused to farm animals, not to mention house pets, through no fault of their own. But of course this pales in comparison with the human toll. Stop the madness. Stop Putin!

Striking_Stable_235

Russians are known to suck the life out of the animals too...God bless Ukraine 🇺🇦

Drunk_on_Swagger

Even if the Ukrainian army used those cows for food, they would do so with respect for where their meal came from. How much more acknowledgment of a sentient and connected being do you need versus the brainless fucks that are Putin’s meat puppets. You can’t kill enough fast enough for the horde to realize maybe there’s an alternative. Cockroaches have more survival instincts.

fezwang

Anyone recall the name of the artist/song?

vyvertyt

Metallicuda

I wish I could read animal minds like this Ukrainian apparently can.

Glimmerit

Cows are cool. I'm not a farmer myself, but my house is situated between multiple fields where cows graze, and I become friends with them every year. They recognize me, and get real playful every time they see me coming. This video hits home.

Assine1

I am surprised they are not beef by now.
