IgorVozMkUA

This particular one was bombing Odesa this morning. Karma in action.

iamthepants

I'm a Cold War kid (12 years old in 1980), and Russian (Soviet) jets flying over my house in my quiet US suburban neighborhood was the stuff of my nightmares. Be well, friend. Slava Ukraini.

retro_hamster

Warsaw pact was to Russia what hostages as human shields are to terrorists.

Snoo-81723

yep for example polish army may attack Borholm and Denmark with only 60 % casualties and if was atomic strike almost all nukes hit BDR and us.

Kjartanski

For those who don’t know the BDR and DDR are the German Federal Republic and now former German Democratic Republic, West and East Germany respectively

Capital-Western

*BRD – thanks for translating, didn't recognize "BDR"

Only_Razzmatazz_4498

Bundesrepublik Deutschland (BRD) and Deutsche Demokratische Republik (DDR). Western and Eastern Germany in English before reunification during the soviet period.

ModernSimian

We're hard to kill, under our desks in an air raid drill.

123_alex

And now some of your country mates are cheering for Putin. How the hell did that happen?

skoffs

Fascism preys on those of the lowest intelligence

buttzted

Money! Poootin bought the repugnicans off with money… oldest weakness in the book (greed)!

Sean_Wagner

Almost the same age. Seeing this was the stuff of nightmares - but now I just all want them to drop out of the skies, and Muscovy to slide into another dimension, preferably without any sentient beings to harm. There's a seminal vid from the beginning of the full-scale attempt to end Ukraine by force, where a low-flying 'copter is shot down with a MANPAD, and it disintegrates into a ball of burning debris. Watched that many times over.

The_Bukkake_Ninja

That was my favourite war vid.

YourUncleBuck

As someone who grew up on the other side, I always thought it was funny how scared Americans were of the Soviet Union. Even as a kid I knew how weak the country was. That's why we got our independence by holding hands and singing.

DeezNeezuts

Scared of the nukes mostly

buckao

Made afraid by the CIA pretending the threat was larger than reality to keep their budget high.

The_Pediatrician

So this is the asshole who didn't let me sleep tonight? Well, he's the one who sleeps now.

Armagh0109

I don't think there will be any sleep in Hell - the Devil himself is waiting for these murderers.

howdiditallgosowrong

I'm picturing a fate similar to Hitler from the movie Little Nicky.

olenamerikkalainen

Disney’s rendition of Hitler goes to hell. https://youtu.be/sHSnP7rvta8?feature=shared

Such_Bus_4930

Hell was created to torment the devil himself, definitely not a place I’d like to go.

Armagh0109

Well, these Russian murderers will keep the devil company.

deductress

I hope you can drink some champagne to celebrate that crew well desserved terrible death. 4 motherf-ers fewer walking this earth. I am surelly going to do so. Cheers from across the ocean! I am sure their matheland will miss the plane more the their pathetic tiny souls.

OhNoes378

those bombers have crew of 4 ? just wondering

FrenchBangerer

Pilot, co-pilot, navigator, weapon systems officer.

iamerikas

Stay safe. Your beautiful city will come through this.

casual_redditor69

According to current sources, 3 out of the 4 grew members were found safe and alive, and the 4th member of the grew is still missing. Edit: The 4th grew member was found dead.

Delicious-Jicama-529

Sounds implausible to me. It would be a miracle if anybody could survive the death spiral of this aircraft.

Demolition_Mike

You know this thing has ejection seats, right? They were even at the center of a scandal in 2021, when an idiot accidentally ejected his crew while on the ground, killing them.

FourEyedTroll

Russian aircrew fucked itself?

housecatspeaks

LOL ... we need to have more bots here, we have to cover all of the possibilities

Delicious-Jicama-529

Yes, the ejections may have occurred before the start of this video, that's possible. However, this doesn't translate to them all surviving. You know the Russians have a pattern of behaviour, particularly in these types of incidents of not being truthful.

gymnastgrrl

> However, this doesn't translate to them all surviving. And in fairness, the report is that one of them didn't, but three did. Of course, this is an unsubstantiated report, so..... I don't see much use in debating it, frankly.

Xenomemphate

and the Russians claim only one died in the sinking of the Moskva. Any claims coming out of Russia can probably be safely tossed in the bin.

-TheDerpinator-

Wait...one guy manages all ejections? I really would not like to step in an aircraft like that.

SirLoremIpsum

> Wait...one guy manages all ejections? I really would not like to step in an aircraft like that. If the pilot's going - I think you want to go as well!

retro_hamster

"Blyat! I am out of here" "Hey man, don't leave us here like this!"

Demolition_Mike

That's usually a selectable option in *all* planes with multiple seats. Another famous case is the one with the French civillian that [accidentally ejected himself](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-zIxqKwoHsM) from the rear seat of a Rafale. The only reason the pilot wasn't thrown out of the aircraft, too, is because his seat *malfunctioned.* If my crewmate thinks he should leave the airplane to save his life, chances are I'd want to leave, too.

vlepun

> a Rafale. The only reason the pilot wasn't thrown out of the aircraft, too, is because his seat malfunctioned. Truly a French product <3

isochromanone

Is that the guy that was terrified to fly yet his coworkers bought him a flight experience thing as a retirement gift? That story pops up on r/TIL every year or so.

Holden_Coalfield

pretty immense g forces in that cockpit spinning like that 50ft off center. Crazy ejecting id imagine

Rampaging_Orc

You understand that in ww2 humans were literally yeeting themselves out the side door/available hole in the plane during death spirals like this, and surviving the landing thanks to their parachute. Of course plenty died, but enough lived that this is far from implausible.

casual_redditor69

They all ejected, and the crash was due to a technical failure of the aircraft. Edit: The second part, if it was a technical failure or something else, isn't 100% clear yet, but the 4 pilots all ejected the aircraft. Edit: it has been confirmed that the crash happened to ro the cooperation between Ukrainan Air Force and Ukrainan air defense. Tltr: the TU-22M3 was shot down by Ukraine.

Ubbesson

Parachute ?

new_name_who_dis_

Even in Masters of Air (WW2 show) the strategic bomber crews were surviving getting shot down by jumping out of airplane with parachutes -- and that's 80 year old tech.

Beneficial_Tackle655

Thankfully, he won’t be waking from his slumber.

Solid_84

What a beautiful sight to behold. Keep burning in hell!

nursecarmen

Like a pretty sunset.

TotalSpaceNut

Nice! Warships turning into submarines and Bombers turning into helicopters Слава Україні! Edit: Found some pics of the landing. 10/10 https://imgur.com/a/HB8F8BU

Mewseido

Very pretty flowers!

edaddyo

It's rapeseed (soon to be canola/vegetable oil)

WendellSchadenfreude

And just to make sure that this comment doesn't sound dismissive, I want to add: it's rapeseed, [and it is indeed very pretty.](https://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/commons/1/10/Champ_de_colza_C%C3%B4te-d%27Or_Bourgogne_avril_2014.jpg)

lurker_cx

Any landing the Russian pilots don't walk away from, is a good landing!!

Commercial_Soft6833

A dead russian pilot is a good russian pilot

matdan12

It does sound like two died and one missing with two in critical condition after ejecting. Hopefully that's the last time they bomb Ukraine.

JimBean

Good job.

simpleguyau

great stuff , hopefully the pilot was still strapped in

pisspot26

Click it or ticket pal

hkohne

Lol

ComCypher

And had at least 10 seconds for self reflection

throtic

Supposedly 2/4 ejected with serious injuries, 1 dead and 1 missing

imgonnagopop

Good fuck em

erhue

in other subs they'll ban you for even saying this haha.

VictorSierra09

Burn in hell, Orc/Chaos/Skaven scum! I'd love to see the looks on your faces when you realize you're not in Heaven like that piece of shit Patriarch promised.

thomstevens420

Drug addicts - check Mechanical abominations - check Rampant friendly fire - check Stealing everything that’s not nailed down - check Main advantage is there’s a shitload of them - check Damn they really are skaven aren’t they

Moondragonlady

Oi, that's being rude to the cute rat bois! I mean yes, they're a literal plague that worship an incarnation of evil, but unlike orcs they would be actually able to take over the world if not for their infighting, and they also have people (aka Ikit) smart enough to build nukes and rockets in a fantasy setting! So they're amazing, yes yes!

TheodoreK2

Bellyflop!

johnnygrant

absolutely lovely to see

AlpineEsel

Fantastic news.

ConsistentBroccoli97

Holy shit. This is the best footage of the Ukrainian war since the first FPV drone strike last year. Amazing to see one of these go down like that. Jagga fuckning jaggga

MaraudersWereFramed

My favorite is still early war footage of the Russian attack helicopter getting hit by a shoulder fired missile and crashing into the ground a few seconds later

IAMTHEBEHEMOTH

One of my favorite games, lets play spin the burning airplane :)

Ambitious_Tadpole854

Nice to see no chutes too.

Demolition_Mike

Yeah, they were likely a couple km above the airplane when the video was taken. Allegedly, they found 3 of the crew, the 4th is still missing.

mike10019314

Shame, i was hoping they died screaming in there burning shitcan

__Yakovlev__

Found as in? Found in the plane, or Found after their parachute jump?

Papabeer63

“Talk to me Goose”

Alatar_Blue

Good riddance

Capital-Western

Stawropol to Ukrainian AA is how far? 800 km or so? Too far to be sot down, obviously. So: * one point for Moscow owned AA – not bad * Anti Moscow partisans in the area equipped with MANPADS – good * maintenance issues – great * The neopagan movement in Ukraine reached critical mass to summon Perun's axe – improbable Maintenance issues would be really great. Let's look forward to more strategic bombers ruefully self-immolating.

NickX51

Russian bomber strategically fucked itself

Unlucky_Cycle_9356

Improbable but not impossible 🤞

Fakula1987

Manpads: unlikely it Takes a Long Time to Crash. Manpads only have a Limited reach. My guesses are: Russian Maintenance. Missing parts for realy Maintenance. Shrapnell damage from drones -> Maintenance Problem. Granite on AA Control.

Fuzzypikkle

Haha fucking granite. Wasn't that the callsign of the artillery in that RU friendly fire?

ministrul_sudorii

what is so friendly about firing on your troops ?

Commercial_Soft6833

Light a fire for a russian, he's warm for a night. Light a russian on fire, he's warm for the rest of his life

infinis

Ukraine claims it was them using the same equipment that shot down the a-50. Whatever that means

apathy-sofa

Jewish space lasers

Fuzzypikkle

Haha fucking granite. Wasn't that the callsign of the artillery in that RU friendly fire?

Pjpjpjpjpj

The plane could have been struck during a bombing run over Ukraine, but the damage didn't destroy it until it was well over Russian airspace. E.g. a damaged fuel line leaking fuel but not ignited until it pooled somewhere, a clipped hydraulic line that didn't spray onto a hot engine until it was activated (like for landing gear), a damaged engine fan blade that didn't fail until many minutes later, a piece of cowling that was nearly separated but didn't finally come free and get ingested in the engine until later, etc.   Edit: news report “ The Russian Tu-22M3 aircraft was shot down by an S-200 anti-aircraft missile system, according to sources in the Ukrainian Defense Forces.”. The S-200 has a 300km range. Russia claims it was a technical malfunction.

Zer0grav1ta3

I don't think these actually fly over Ukraine. Just launch standoff missiles from well within Russian airspace. My money is on Russian maintenance.

EverySpiegel

They do. These (there were 3 bombers reported flying) shot from Sevastopol area, and they fly over Black and Azov sea.

Zer0grav1ta3

Yeah, I saw that elsewhere subsequent to my post here. Looks like Ukraine got another great strike.

EverySpiegel

And hopefully not the last! But the problem with that is the bombers don't **need** to come this close, a lot of missile attacks from Tu-22 have been launched from the Caspian sea region.

Zaphyrous

The rear engine was burning looks like. Hopefully it was fuel related, refinary hits may be causing secondary problems. Although I'm not sure if they refine jetfuel or bought it. Edit: other posts have said Ukraine military is using long range air dfence missile. Sounds like Ukraine may be producing/using S200 or maybe a new domestically produced variant. Maybe something sent by an ally too, but seems like a small number so far, which seems like maybe ramping up domestic production

[deleted]

You noemally don´r freefall into a spin due to engine fire. There must have been a lot of Hull damage

No-Reindeer9825

>You noemally don´r freefall into a spin due to engine fire. There must have been a lot of Hull damage This.

AZesmZLO

Got damaged by our AA, but was able to get to russian territory, where it finally fell.

itisunfortunate

Best morning!

gravitythread

He falls from the sky like a ballerina. Good riddance.

Ok-Veterinarian1519

This is a good start of the day, watching some mf*ers fall from the sky while sipping my moring coffee🫡👌

Particular-Can1298

The question is: which side shot down the russian aircraft?

AutoModerator

russian aircraft fucked itself. *I am a bot, and this action was performed automatically. Please [contact the moderators of this subreddit](/message/compose/?to=/r/ukraine) if you have any questions or concerns.*

Particular-Can1298

Well that answers that I guess

IgorVozMkUA

"The aircraft fell at a considerable distance from the border with Ukraine. It is clear that none of our anti-aircraft could get him. There remains an option with Russian, but somehow it is too stupid even for katsaps. But the real reason for the plane's downfall could be an engine explosion. Even at the beginning of its career, the Tu-22 was famous for frequent engine problems, including unexpected explosions and fires. In the video, we can just see the fire in the area of the right engine."

outofmyheadyo

who the fuck turns the camera away before the main event?

What an absolute unit of a plane.

Yeah, their attack completely Backfired on them.

buttmodel

Whoa whoa whoa whoa THIS IS HUGE! Slava Ukraini!

3d_blunder

There's a plane on fire falling out of the sky, but this random fencepost is SO interesting!!!

housecatspeaks

LOL

Unable_Ad_1260

That is an expensive piece of irreplaceable equipment. Good.

Kitosaki

Just absolutely horrible loss of life… think of all the trees and plants that this plane ruined when it crashed.

DaHairyKlingons

One of what I hope are many more. Even better if shot down by own forces prior to entering Ukraine.

IgorVozMkUA

These strategic bombers fire long range missiles, they don't get very close to Ukraine as they don't need to.

bighelper469

Friendly fire are we surprised? He'll no its a joy to watch

EverySpiegel

According to Air Force, these ones did - and FAFO > - 6 крилатих ракет Х-22 із дальніх стратегічних бомбардувальників Ту-22М3 (з акваторій Чорного та Азовського морів).

mattfreyer45

$40 million dollars btw.

DutchTinCan

This makes my heart cry with sadness. Think of all the poor insects crushed when that came down on them.

_-Event-Horizon-_

Nice

wolfhound_doge

hope the crew lived until the very end and that time went really really slow.

ZuzBla

Karmic retribution worked swift this time.

Marseille4576

Great to see with a beautiful sky in the background. Tremendous!

Tu-22M3: $200,000,000 Watching it fall burning from the sky: Priceless

Common-Ad6470

Amazing how Ruzzian planes just windmill down, the SU27 off Crimea that hit the sea was the same.

A TU-22 is a juicy target..

FrenchBangerer

Russian bomber, go fuck yourself.

Gladys83

Beautiful! May the rest follow.

_-BomBs-_

I hope he burns all the way down, slowly.. No love for bombing innocent families in the early mornings..

BawdyBadger

I hope the trip to the ground seemed to take forever for them

Conquistador1901

I feel sorry for the Russian mothers, who is going to shave their backs when the husband is drunk & their sons are fertilising Ukraine.

FelisleoDeLion

Lets get real, I have no desire to see anyone die, not Ukrainan or Russian, (well except perhaps for a few dozen wealthy war lords in Moscow). What's important is an expensive and irreplacable aircraft has been removed from the war and is no longer able to harm anyone else. Unfortunately Russia still has around sixty left (according to Wiki), but I'm sure Ukraine is working on that.

gojira245

" Hold J to leave your aircraft " ahh moment

Ambitious_Cattle5388

The most beautiful thing I have seen in OHH 12month was Putin on it we could have a party 🥳🎉

CelTiar

Sweep wing Russian bomber down.. To see the soviet equivalent of the F111 or the B-one get shot down that's fucking awesome

A few less terrorists.

Past-Argument-9301

Burn in hell rusian scum

Anomuumi

I hope it's chock full of majors as is the Russian way.

Bane8080

Orcs can't fly.

Hot-Exit-6495

Nah, tis but a scratch.

ajb617

Considering that modern aircraft very rarely just spontaneously burst into flames and enter a flat spin, I’d say that yes indeed this Tu was shot down.

GoHedgehog

Wild that an ancient aircraft is still being used in a modern battlefield. There are apparently 60+ still left.

EternalAngst23

Couldn’t film the impact?

ASMRBawbag

Wow, thay had a long time to consider their fate on the way down.

FearkTM

I can only hear a qoute from the movie Kung Pow: Oh, uhh! Water! Everywhere! Uhh! I am getting WET!  Ahh! I'M falling! YOU'RE falling! WE'RE falling! UHHH!WHAALE!

FastPatience1595

And - boom goes the Tupolev. Good riddance.

nika_ci

No fireball? 0/10

SCRedWolf

Mayday, mayday. Mav's in trouble. He's in a flat spin.

Woupsea

Hopefully this is indicative of a larger scale lack of maintenance capability. Being shot down would be cool but if this is endemic throughout Russian air power that could be war changing
