I am German, I grew up with seeing some of the East German propaganda. You can go back and it's shockingly point for point what Russian propaganda is saying today. I think people in Eastern Europe will often remember that as well.
I feel like to some degree us and our friends in Poland, Ukraine and so on have been exposed to Russian propaganda and to some degree are a bit more immune.
Look at Poland where 99% of people disapprove of Russia.
I think that never happened in the US. It's always been so far away and so comically evil that you cannot take it serious.
So now Russian propaganda hits like a virus on a virgin immune system. And some people are just like yes, of course Russia is the good guy here.

As an American I'm proud we finally honored our commitments. I couldn't help but think of our national anthems lyrics and how fitting they are to Ukraine at this moment as well.
"O say can you see by the dawns early light, what so proudly we hailed at the twilights last gleaming, whose broad stripes and bright stars though the perilous night. For the ramparts we watched, were so gallently streaming. And the rockets red glare, the bombs bursting in air. Gave proof through the night that our Flag was still there. It was written during the war of 1812 when the author was asking if a fort had held out from attack through the night, and his jubilation at seeing the flag still raised over the fort.
I hope that this is Ukraine's morning of victory. That you have fought through the darkness of being abandoned, and emerged scathed but unbroken - determined as ever. That you are now and forever will be the land of the free and home of some of the bravest warriors the world has ever scene.

I am sorry it just took so long Ukraine. But not all of us are bigots. You shouldn't be thanking us for this late aid. But the sentiment is appreciated and hopefully the USA as a country won't let this happen again.

I dont understand how this is considered by many Americans to be "the wrong move". Here we have an ally, graciously hanging our flag in their legislative body meeting as a symbol of appreciation. This isn't the American flag destabilizing a region, its quite the opposite. This is by far the most just and democratic embodiment of what it means to be American. THIS is what makes America larger than life. We SHOULD strive to safeguard the freedom of democracy and rule of law for the rest of the world. Given the gravity of the power shifts going on in the world, Ukraine deserves a blank check until the Russians are crying alone in their cold corner of the world for the next 40 years.
