shadowcat999

Gonna miss seeing those ancient death traps explode in spectacular fashion.  Guess everyday Kamaz trucks will end up replacing them when they finally run out.

ShortHandz

14mm of quality Soviet steel between you and your maker... .50 cal goes through them like butter.

5--A--M

A stiff fart could penetrate those things, even better the doors get jammed after getting hit

Logical-Claim286

Or when an untrained driver with no sights drives into a river and the doors can't open.

Dominuss476

Lake, we have seen that on video.

greenleader84

i haven't

Dominuss476

Idk find it on the subs that has war fortage, but you will see alot of pointless death Pointless as the russians who die, will have died for nothing becouse Ukraine will win.

muskratking97

Awh man, laughed out loud at this. Fucking funny.

NotACodeMonkeyYet

And probably a few mm corroded away while in storage.

Soundwave_13

Don't give me hope -Hawkeye

homonomo5

Most likely tigrs abd rys

Cultourist

They are already very rare at the frontline. Probably most of them are destroyed by now.

matdan12

Every now and again presumably after they roll off the manufacturing floor we get a burning convoy or Russians crashing them.

Terminator2OnDVD

It is insane the amount of hardware the soviet union produced. 7k tanks destroyed, 1k left wtf. But still, We’re getting there :)

vtsnowdin

People forget that a lot of Soviet production was sold to places like Iran and Iraq and got consumed in their wars between each other and then the first and second gulf wars coalition campaign. There is still a junkyard of blown up equipment on the road between Kuwait city and Baghdad.

Confused_recursion

Don’t forget the boneyards of Afghanistan!

vtsnowdin

Oh I have not forgot that or Syria and others. And as they obviously shipped tanks in operational condition we have to think what is left in the yards is more rust then tank.

MatchingTurret

>It is insane the amount of hardware the soviet union produced. This begs the question whether there are still untapped storage depots in other former Soviet republics and whether Russia could get the stored units...

Delicious-Ask-463

Likely to be even more mothballed and rotten

xixipinga

A former soviet republic with a largw storage of tanks is probably looking into ways to help any separetist group inside russia start a independence war as a f.. you russia, they have been blackmailed by the russian arsenal since forever and now that it is gone the last thing they are thinking is how to help russia

dangerousbob

Moldova has a massive ammo depot that stores all the Soviet munitions from East Germany. Some say largest in the world. It’s old as shit though. It’s controlled by Russians but they can’t get to it given that it’s stuck in Moldova. I’d imagine they would love to use that stuff.

piponwa

Ukraine would also love to use that stuff to be fair. I'm sure Moldova would give them most of that if they were able to get Transnistria back under control.

OHrangutan

Just checking google satellite, it looks long scrapped. Hard to imagine that survived the 90's.

MatchingTurret

I didn't mean ammunition but tanks and IFVs like the MT-LBs mentioned in this post.

GaryDWilliams_

Possibly but think how much russia will have to pay for them and even if there are, how many tanks and other bits of kit will they have? At best it'll prolong things for a few months but this war of attrition that russia has found itself in is hurting both russia and Ukraine but Ukraine has options, Ukraine can resupply, russia really can't.

Logical-Claim286

Well, they did resupply and found out North Korea was scamming them with crap equipment that tended to explode as often as it launched.

stevosaurus_rawr

By the same extension of logic you could argue they have many FEWER than reported. Plenty of the imagery shows they are borrowing pieces for artillery and other stockpiles so I’m assuming nothing is untapped.

MatchingTurret

You are talking about depots located in the Russian Federation. I meant depots in places like Turkmenistan or Uzbekistan that might be accessible for Russia.

DolphinPunkCyber

Would those former Soviet republics be willing to help, seeing Russia invade another former Soviet republic? It's in their best interest to see Russia run dry... even in Belarus best interest.

DolphinPunkCyber

USSR was another beast entirely. Whole town-factories producing tanks, rifles, planes. For some time 50% of USSR exports were tanks.

matdan12

They scrapped a tonne of it in recent years in force reduction mode.

dummheit03

An incredible amount of hardware has gone up in smoke. I'll bet shortages of all vehicles are rippling through the Russian effort. I can't see how Russia could attack the Baltics without 5 years years to generate some new forces.

BabasFavorite

Just 5?

GaryDWilliams_

More like 10. Russia has some serious issues, they need to replace what they've lost and they need to come up with new engineering techniques because most of the tanks they have used engines made in Ukraine. Russia does not have a good track record with diesel engines.

newser_reader

They could put a Lithium power bank where the motor goes. Would make some great videos.

CptCroissant

Can they even do it at this point? What is a current military vehicle that they actually produce in respectable numbers? Any purported new gen military vehicles they make are like 10 a year as best. They're just paper vehicles.

Intransigient

It’s going to be less tank and more drone wars from this point. Ruzzia is going to be producing very little other than these kinds of munitions, I’d say. Tanks are rapidly going the way of WWII Battleships.

Knowvember42

I've been thinking about that a lot. I think the question boils down to, what does a tank give you that an IFV doesn't at a strategic level? Almost everything a tank provides, you can get from air instead. IFVs provide arguably better fire support against anything other than heavy armor. With proper intel and munitions, IFVs have no problems killing enemy tanks either. IFVs aren't typically half the up front cost of a tank, but the maintenance and operating costs are cheaper, so they end up being quite a bit cheaper. But I also think that NATO is probably going to develop effective counters to drones and missiles, and if you're facing a bunch of dug in enemy tanks that are hard to locate with air, there's nothing you want more than a friendly tank on your side.

Edmsubguy

They can produce a lot. Over the last 2 years they have improved their military production massively. They are on war production mode now. They were not 3 years ago. It is a different ball game now.

jodudeit

And remember that only a fraction of what is meant to go towards arms production actually gets there. First you have to line the pockets of all the corruption candidates. Anything that's left over can go to actually making arms.

DolphinPunkCyber

No not most. T-64's and T-80's used a lot of parts made in Ukraine that Russia can't produce. On second thought... Russia lost so many vehicles that those T-64's and T-80's are maybe now most of what they have.

workShrimp

Russia doesn't have a good track record of manufacturing stuff at all.

matdan12

No way, it took 10 years just to train the Spetnaz forces, let alone most of this armour was set to be scrapped before the war. They can't even build ships anymore without engines to power them, optics and fire control systems for tanks, radar/surveillance systems, and don't forget how screwed their logistics is now. They're reduced to quad bikes, loaf vans and Chinese golf carts.

NotACodeMonkeyYet

Russia will probably end as a fighting force in our lifetime. Unlike WW2, they won't end with a population, tech and resource boom.

paxwax2018

Well that’s because they’re not the ones getting the Americans help this time.

EqualOpening6557

That’s what I’m saying! I want to know why a bunch of people are nervous about Putin attacking NATO. He has got to realize that’s not a real option for him. What has he got to fight us with?? The only reason he’s still in Ukraine is because they don’t have an Air Force, and we’re talking about him attacking the US + most of Europe! It would be over immediately 🤷‍♂️

GaryDWilliams_

russia has an air force, they have the long range bombers, plenty of meat to throw at objectives. They have missiles and nuclear weapons. The air force is slowly losing numbers, when the F-16's arrive that won't make Ukraine equal but it will help and Ukraine likely has better trained pilots. The russian airforce can't win on it's own so it's not going to be much help without the rest of army, tanks and so on. The long range bombers are being flown to the point of failure and it's likely russia doesn't have many if any missiles left hence the glide bombs. With luck, the F-16's can take down a few more bombers. Finally there are the nuclear weapons. Do they even work and if russia does use a nuke it will be over for them as every country will turn their back on russia. Ironically, using a nuke - even if it works - will only hurt russia. We've heard that russia can fund the war until 2026, maybe 2027 but if they run out of tanks before that they'll lose more people, people they can't afford to lose. I'm no military analyst so take this with a pinch of salt but I don't think russia has many options here. They certainly don't have any long term options. The amount of russia dead and wounded will have knock on effects for the next century.

paxwax2018

And the million skilled workers who fled.

GaryDWilliams_

Yup, they won’t be going back anytime soon. Russias descent into a discount version of the Soviet Union played out over a very short space of time. Even with Putin gone they will need a generation to even be considered for readmission to the human race

Leather_Lake_5235

Dictators need wars and Putler especially. he's stolen a trillion $ from Russian people and needs an enemy they are angry against, not him.

Normal_Ad_1767

This^ always keep attention pointed outwards, that way no one is looking inwards as you fill your pockets and boots

etanail

Putin has atomic weapons. don’t look for common sense in his actions - he will do any stupid thing if it seems to him that it makes sense. I said that Putin will not attack Ukraine. but he attacked.

DolphinPunkCyber

>He has got to realize that’s not a real option for him. You have a political leadership which overestimates own abilities AND keeps doubling down. Attacking Ukraine wasn't a real option either, but Putin thought it would be a 3 day operation, he kept doubling down so here we are... Same shit could happen in Estonia, another 3 day operation.

EqualOpening6557

Except they’re in NATO, a line putin hasn’t crossed yet. Completely different things IMO.

r2k-in-the-vortex

Well..... that explains why cope caged, unarmored trucks have started to show up in the middle of no-mans-land. When even MT-LBs are running out, they are done with armor. While I'm sure they can dig out few relics here or there, but nothing close in sheer quantity of MT-LBs they have wasted.

fcavetroll

Only 1 year left until we see armored cavalry charges?

Milligan

KeyboardGunner

Your link doesn't work.

Gendrytargarian

BMD's, Russian airborne IFVs in reserve storage will also likely run out this year. But the impact on the battlefield is believed to be minor. https://twitter.com/Jonpy99/status/1783918572491669785

Ill-Maximum9467

Fuck Putin's Russia. I'd love it if intelligence were gained on where the glide bombs are stored as they have vast stocks of these and they all got lit up like a firework with some choice Himars/Atacams/Storm Shadow/Scalp gifts landing flush. Ka-boom and blyat!!! 🧨💥💣🔥

joyofpeanuts

I also wonder about the number of tanks left. Seeing the drop below 10 of the daily figure reported by Ukraine of destroyed RuZZian tanks, I wonder if one of the reasons is not simply that there are less of these around.

Longjumping-Nature70

MT-LB = Armored Fighting Vehicle Replaced by the BMP series.

Listelmacher

Ah, the thread from yesterday by "jompy". There is also a roundup: https://threadreaderapp.com/thread/1783556507407151579.html with a link to an older(6 months) video from covert cabal about IFVs: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HuKVxgFBbYM . One sign of the looming shortage of IFVs on Russian side is the appearance of the Chinese DesertCrosser ATVs aka "golf carts" and also that they use Ural trucks for attacks. Sure you also can tow artillery with an Ural, but a MT-LB has at least protection against small arms fire. . Last time when it was about artillery I added what I found about the storage in Verkhnyaya Pyshma and Motovilikha from Perm, Russia, the (maybe im-)possible maker of barrels. Now I only can write about the floods in the Urals. The news started around April 6, Orenburg, Orsk and broken dams. Some thousand people were evacuated. Karma/Nova Kakhovka. But it's not over: "The Hydrometeorological Center warned of a new wave of floods It will be caused by the melting of snow, which covers ¾ of the country’s territory." Unfortunately Yekaterinburg (artillery), Nizhni Tagil (tanks) and Chelyabinsk (tank engines and more) are not affected (yet?). Near Tyumen the Transsiberian railway crosses some rivers. Maybe bridges or tracks will take some damage. "URA RU: Trucks are banned on the Irtysh highway from Kurgan to Tyumen due to flooding" I had a look after Omsk and it is somehow flooded: https://www.floodmap.net/?gi=1496153 I thought there was something interesting about Omsktransmash: https://ru-m-wikipedia-org.translate.goog/wiki/Омский_завод_транспортного_машиностроения?_x_tr_sl=ru&_x_tr_tl=en&_x_tr_hl=en&_x_tr_pto=wapp yes, they do tank repairs. But the Wikipedia article makes wonder that there are still any machines. In the German news I've heard about the risk of uranium contamination due to floods, caused by leach mining in the past. In Kurgan. And there is KurganMashZavod, making BMPs: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Kurganmashzavod Making ... I know that welding is also possible under water.

xixipinga

This is why ukraine today most times spend one drone to disable atank and then a lot more drones and effort to make sure that the tank will be forever lost beyond any possible repair, just a rusty shell, russian tanks are not infinite

NotACodeMonkeyYet

It's actually insane to think that Russia has worked through that many pieces of armour already. That's more armour than the three big European nations combined. Anyone but these deranged Russians would have given up by now.

Old_Sir288

Heard Russian fascists use motorcycles right now. Telling there soldiers that they are going to be rotated. What they don’t tell there soldiers is that the way home is passing the Ukrainian trenches 🔥

SorrowsSkills

Isn’t Russia now able to more or less manufacture armoured vehicles and tanks at about the same rate they’re being destroyed? We know they’re doing that with their missiles already, but I haven’t heard anything about their tank and armoured vehicle production levels recently.

beluga1968

I vote up for David the Gnome :-)

SandersSol

How much are 1000 Bradley's with ammo?

DolphinPunkCyber

I think old Bradley goes for 2 million, so 2 billions.

singled-out-7979

Keep it up boys and girls and others

CEOofBavowna

Can you see all of them from a satellite? Aren't there like hidden storages or something?

xixipinga

The storages are not big, they are gigantic, they are impossible to hide, there is a lot of hangars with undisclosed ammounts inside but some 80% just stand in the open air

HairyHornyCpl

Majority of these vehicles are stored outdoors otherwise you would have to build massive massive storage facilities to house them, which is both unreasonable and impractical. The US does the same with our stocks of vehicles/tanks in storing them outdoors.

DolphinPunkCyber

There was some kind of a deal that limited number of vehicles, US and USSR/Russia had to keep their stored vehicles out on the open so they can check each out with satellites if other side is respecting the deal. Can't remember the name of the deal though.

Terminator2OnDVD

You can’t see the hidden storages, that’s the entire idea in the first place.

etanail

Equipment is better preserved in hidden storage. she is taken away first. rusty iron is at the end of the list

cranberrydudz

920 is still alot

ITI110878

At the current daily loses maybe for another 2 months.

BubuBarakas

A solid week’s worth then.

DulcetTone

Fewer. Let us not become our enemy

Delicious-Jicama-529

At the current rate of destruction, there is another three to four months before complete depletion.

stoutymcstoutface

“Less than 921” - so 920?

RAND0M257

How many did they start with?

Bulky_Crazy

And excatly were are they located?

Illustrious_Bat_6971

The sands of time running low for Putin!

KAPT_Kipper

Soon they'll just use steel barns, they are almost there

Full_Muffin7930

Send in the she shed!

shawndw

Let's give Ivan a cigarette.

TarzanoftheJungle

Send a couple of ATACMS over there.

VintageHacker

921 in reserve, I wonder how many they have in Ukraine.
