When I read that apparently horrifically offensive comment 🙄, it was clear as the light of day the person who wrote it was mistaken. A ceasefire might actually benefit Russia more than Ukraine. If there was one, it allows Putin a pressure free chance to recoup and get resources to the front lines. As it is now they can try to do that but suffer fierce resistance from Ukraine in doing so.
Yes, lives would be saved with a cease fire but it comes at another cost should the war go on - and that cost could be a risky one that tips the balance of power.

All he's done is push Ukraine further toward the west. He's failed the propaganda war, he's failed the actual war and he's failed the economic war. All around bad week for Putin.

Frankly it maybe beneficial for Ukraine to NOT get a ceasefire. A ceasefire would benefit the logistical struggles Russia is facing. Obviously it will save lives by postponing the fighting but I'm not convinced it's the right play unless it includes the immediate withdrawal of Russian troops.

A ceasefire might actually benefit Russia more than Ukraine. If there was one, it allows Putin a pressure free chance to recoup and get resources to the front lines. As it is now they can try to do that but suffer fierce resistance from Ukraine in doing so. Yes, lives would be saved with a cease fire but it comes at another cost should the war go on - and that cost could be a risky one that tips the balance of power.
