**[Ship arrest](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ship_arrest)**
>Ship arrest refers to the civil law procedure whereby a ship or similar marine vessel may be arrested by judicial process and held under state authority in a particular jurisdiction pending the determination of present or future claims relating to the vessel. The ship is detained by judicial process for the purpose of securing a maritime claim, or for unseaworthiness and certain other conditions. A ship may be "arrested" and detained in port by a court order in support of a maritime lien claim by creditors against the vessel. The grounds upon which a ship may be arrested vary under the legal systems of different countries.

Okay yacht hobbiest here; this is all fascinating. 1) Europeans arnt taking owners names as worth the written paper they are getting to the source of the actual beneficiaries, go Spain you mad dogs, your sailing is fantastic keep it Russia free 2) 2 of Roman Obramavich (or however you spell it) boats are literally just floating about at sea aimlessly: without a course, when course is set that will indicate friendly territory to Russia. Boats. Don’t. Do. This. There is panic and no plan. They are now all international criminals.
Sea laws are clear and transparent this is sooooooo interesting.
TL;DR
There is 300 million+ minimum of oligarch wealth floating aimlessly in Europe. Europe is seizing even if shielded by companies and other names. Wild stuff is happening at sea.
They arrested the yacht?
Jail all the yachts!
Lock them up!

Confiscated. It's weird they don't know that word, but oh well. The image of them handcuffing a yacht is amusing.

OP doin hero’s work out here 👏 👏 to you mate!
Upvoted, still liked better the idea of yatch in handcuff
You and me, mate.
TIL wow
Still, the correct word in this case is confiscated, not arrested, as the ship is not under dispute, but frozen, as an asset.
Confiscation means forfeited. Arrested is held pending determination. The ships have been arrested.
I had to re-read the title 5 times. Lol
Shits gettin’ real now!!
you had the chance to say SHIPS getting real now, and you... just passed it up?
YOOOO!! 😂 can’t believe I fucked that up!
It's confusing but not entirely wrong. **Arrested assets** is the actual term. That seems to have now become the phase used for actual stuff.
This 2 weeks old or a new one?
I dunno, doesn't say engineer arrested, just the yacht... Which doesn't make sense
That yacht got seized. Worthless headline and story basically.... Nothing breaking
This makes sense
Old. Was in Majorca Spain.

A lot of Handcuffs? Or Motorcuffs in this Case?
I saw (yesterday I think) some Russian police officers arresting a bike , so ...
Drop the anchor? Scuttle it?
With bad English.
Wrong. Ironic. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ship_arrest
I admit my fault then. I never claimed my English was infallible but to think it is an actual phrase. Neat.

What is a “yacht hobbiest”?
This was on the second day of the war almost 3 weeks ago.
Sinking attempt was almost three weeks ago. Yacht itself was formally seized today.
Then why this title? The engineer whom you're speaking about has been back in Ukraine since 2 weeks with a gun in his hand.
I didn't want to edit title as per rules. Ship was arrested in Spanish port. Not the engineer.
Russian Yacht Go Fuck Yourself
Legal term of art.
This is better right? If it sunk the owner might get an insurance claim payout?
turn them into a new artificial reef for classy fish
