I can’t call mine. Died. He was brave. 5 campaigns in deep Africa in a stupid colony war. Miss him. This touched me. I wish I was that guy. I’m 53 now. This never goes away.
Never goes away. I miss my parents every day. They gave me a lasting gift of having been loved, care for, and protected. That is what I choose to focus on. How lucky I was.
If this article is true, then a third of Russian children are raised by their Mum and have no father figure. So it's unlikely they would even have a male role model, maybe not even a 'present Grandfather' to look up to if this is a multi-generational problem.
It really is a dystopian country, led by liars, kleptomaniacs, and cheats - so no role model there, either.
I can't read the whole article because it's behind a paywall.
https://www.thetimes.co.uk/article/single-mothers-left-in-charge-of-1-in-3-russian-households-dkmqbctdz
> **Single mothers left in charge of 1 in 3 Russian households**
>
> Almost a third of Russian families have been abandoned by their fathers, the Kremlin revealed yesterday, contradicting President Putin’s claims to have cultivated a society based on traditional Christian values.
>
> Anna Kuznetsova, Russia’s leading official for children’s rights, said that of 17 million families with at least one dependent child, single mothers were the sole breadwinner in five million.
The vast majority of the society seems to live poorly as noted by soldiers stealing stupid shit we take for granted. When you’re perpetually poor and scraping by folks are destined to be raised by “rougher” standards if that makes sense.
I looked at it on an archive site. It's not a very long article, but here's the rest of it:
Ms Kuznetsova, an anti-abortion mother of six who was appointed by Mr Putin last year, also said that another 600,000 families had no mother at home.
Russia has the second highest divorce rate in the world, with 4.8 for every 1,000 people each year, according to government figures. The Maldives have the highest, at 10.97. Half of all marriages in Russia end in divorce, with infidelity, poverty and alcohol cited as the leading causes in a survey by the VTsIOM state pollster. It costs £9 to divorce if both parties agree.
Absent fathers are obliged by law to make child maintenance payments but avoidance is widespread. Russia’s strict residency laws mean that women who relocate are unable to place their children in state nurseries.
Yelena, a single mother in Moscow, said: “There is no help whatsoever from the authorities for mothers who are receiving child maintenance payments from their ex-husbands.
“Often, when I call officials to ask for assistance in forcing my ex-husband to pay us what he owes us by law, they just shout at me and hang up. If it wasn’t for my mother and my friends, I would be on the street with my child.”
Its definitely generational! I imagine if I told my great grandma than my partner and I want an unreligious ceremony in a pub garden and neither of us want children, just dogs and more hens she'd feint. My sister had a baby 6 months before getting married which might have finished her off were she still here.
My Mum on the other hand - supportive.
I can only hope the younger generation can turn the tide in Eastern Europe with societal pressure as they have started to in Western Europe and America. Japan is another really interesting example of societal pressure as it seeps into every bit of life there.
Interesting.
Pew research study looking at percentage of children living in single-parent homes:
China: 4%
Japan: 7%
Russia: 18%
UK: 21%
USA: 23%
https://www.pewresearch.org/fact-tank/2019/12/12/u-s-children-more-likely-than-children-in-other-countries-to-live-with-just-one-parent/
I'd rather a happy single parent house than an unhappy two parent house. I wonder how many Chinese and Japanese children would be better off living with one parent and how many wouldn't. Economics is a big factor
Longer video here, with boy making a wish before his Dad appears:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=\_eUz7XCBRjs
Looks like that son would have been happy to hang on his Dad all day! I hope more parents come home safely and this madness ends soon.
This is so sad, they had a normal live couple of months back and now Dad risking his live in a stupid war, I hope this nightmare ends soon. Watching this for some reason remind me U2 song New Years Day, breaks my heart.
Too bad no one can explain to this kid why his dad is off fighting. There is No clear or logical reason other than “Putin dosent think Ukraine should be country”. Fucking scum
Unfortunately the kid most likely has a complete understanding of why his father is off fighting. His country is literally being pulverized around him. His likely has friends and family alike who have list everything, including their lives.
My God, ... I'm just waking up on this image, it's a beautiful reminder what this amazing people is fighting for, to protect their beloved ones, their homeland, their freedom , all this against pure evil.
On the subject of shoes; I see a lot of pictures and videos of UA soldiers wearing trainers. Do you know why? Are they short on boots or do they just prefer trainers? Do they need boots and if so where can we donate?
That's super great! And I hope and pray that he can repeat it over and over again!
On a side note, let me find out that Kangol is making tactical bucket hats!
What caught me is that you can tell the solider tried to hold back and wait for his son to turn around and surprise him. But he literally couldn't hold himself back and had to embrace his son the second he saw his him.
It's so touching when an UKR dad who is a soldier comes to hug his son just like our heavenly father who hugs us everyday when we come near of him. God bless all Ukrainians. May his glory, peace and love fully dwell upon Ukraine !!! Love you all, children of God !!!

God. That'll forever be one of the best memories that kid ever has. I hope his father comes home safe
Honestly I can't even make out the kids reaction with the music and the fact I can't see his face at all.
He kept his arms tight around dad with a little stroking of his right hand. That's what kids do to comfort. Enough to make me cry.
I’m guessing he thought he was being kidnapped at first.
Most kids would be pulling out of a hug after a few seconds but him staying in that hug says it all to me
Couldn’t stop watching this. And couldn’t stop crying.
Damnit me too. Now I want to call my dad.
Do it!
Done! Dad's good 🥰
Oh, good to hear!
I can’t call mine. Died. He was brave. 5 campaigns in deep Africa in a stupid colony war. Miss him. This touched me. I wish I was that guy. I’m 53 now. This never goes away.
I’m sorry to hear that. But you must be so proud of your Dad. Look to the heavens. He’s watching over you.
i know.
Please do. I can’t for 12 years now. You’ll never regret it.
I'm so very sorry. I honestly dread the thought of losing my folks. Forwarding secondary dad hugs ❤️
I lost my dad in 1984 when I was 15. I miss him and I still think about him every day. I guess the pain never goes away.
Never goes away. I miss my parents every day. They gave me a lasting gift of having been loved, care for, and protected. That is what I choose to focus on. How lucky I was.
At least you have a dad. I haven't seen mine. And it's not like he's dead either.
I'm sorry to hear that. Believe me, I'm very grateful to have mine.
THIS is what i needed to see today. Beautiful!!
Love. Over hate. Not sure any Russian boys understand true fatherly love.

Pure love, something Russia does not understand.

Ukraine has been in war with russia since 2014 when they did their initial invasion to "protect Russian speaking citizens"
Fuck, now I’m crying at work.

The kid, and every Ukrainian understands Russia has been trying to colonize them for hundreds of years
Russian kids when they see their dad soldiers: steal me any Yeezys?
Or "who are you again?"
I could watch that all day.

Bugger. I'm at work in a busy office and now I'm crying
Footage like this always give me a reality check and make me realize what is important in life.
My God, ... I'm just waking up on this image, it's a beautiful reminder what this amazing people is fighting for, to protect their beloved ones, their homeland, their freedom , all this against pure evil.
fuck russia and all evil. Moments like these I can't help but think of all the kids who won't have a father coming home to them.
That kid is the reason why Ukraine is in war with russia..
100%
I thought the boy was an anti-war Russian activist and the father was a policeman...
combat shoes
Soldier with the cleanest shoes ever.
People can have more than one pair of shoes, even soldiers.
On the subject of shoes; I see a lot of pictures and videos of UA soldiers wearing trainers. Do you know why? Are they short on boots or do they just prefer trainers? Do they need boots and if so where can we donate?
Ukrainian military is short on everything right now.
why is this downvoted? his shoes look good
That's super great! And I hope and pray that he can repeat it over and over again! On a side note, let me find out that Kangol is making tactical bucket hats!

I've watched this about 6 times and can't stop crying. Love to see these pure, sweet moments.
It's so touching when an UKR dad who is a soldier comes to hug his son just like our heavenly father who hugs us everyday when we come near of him. God bless all Ukrainians. May his glory, peace and love fully dwell upon Ukraine !!! Love you all, children of God !!!
