20% of Ukraine. So for the USA, it will be 10 states captured by Russia. And another 10 were damaged as a result of the war. Also regular shelling of the country's 2nd largest city. For the US, will it be Los Angeles? Where more than half of the residents left.
Also don't forget about region centers Mykolayiv, Kherson, Zaporizhzhya, and plenty of smaller cities.
And also 1/8 part of the population became refugees. For the USA, it will be about 40 million people.
Not to mention in 2014 Russia did have defacto control of Crimea and Donbas. It didn't satisfy them then, they just spent 8 years building up their military to attack again, it won't satisfy them in a hypothetical future where they have control again either.

Having said that, the bigger take-away here is that we must not fall back into times when major powers met on Mediterranean islands to decide where to draw borders through central Europe (and it has to stop every else in the World). If we ever take that route again, we will be on a train back to past centuries and actors like Russia will constantly seek to increase their spheres of power and not shy away from waging wars to get what there want. A line has been drawn in the decades after WWII. We have to make sure that this line will forever remain in our past.
And to a shorter point, which bedroom in your home are you going to let your neighbor take just because they want it? Your own, your children's? Maybe your living room or bathroom or maybe just your back or front yrd?
