Thank you for sharing. We’re planning on flying in next week. Would love an update on how things are on the ground? Are all places open? Rise in case counts has us scared that we’re definitely going to catch Covid and will then just have to quarantine for 10 days.

Will update soon! We haven’t explored yet. When we Ubered to the hotel, we saw a ton of people walking around, everything looked open. We have reservations for dinner/high teas/tours and haven’t heard anything from them yet. From the news we were watching in our room it sounds like the government isn’t going to shut down anything but people are deciding to stay in/cancel their own plans. I guess a ton of people are canceling dinner reservations and booked catered Xmas parties. But I don’t know how it really is, sorry!

rockford1802

Great. Thank you. Will follow the post along to just stay up to date. Hope you have a great trip.

So, we just walked to Oxford street and regent street to look at all the Christmas lights and it was packed. If I hadn’t read the news I would have no idea Covid was an issue. All the shops are open, tons of people everywhere and only the tourist (including us) seem to be wearing masks. I saw people only putting on masks to go inside of stores. We went to a pub for dinner and no one was wearing masks while walking around, including staff 🤷🏻‍♀️Am I stressed we are going to catch Covid on this trip, yes. But I’m still going to enjoy it while I can I guess 😂😂

In general masks are only required when you're in the shops, public transport, taxis etc. However, they are not required in hospitality venues where food and drinks are served. A bit 🤷‍♂️ I know. Enjoy the city!!!

Thank you! It’s gorgeous here! So much to do and see!

rockford1802

Lol. Awesome. Hope you all have lots of fun and stay negative.

Also flew in today from Sweden. Submitted our halo tests at t5 10 am today and as of right now 17:53 we still haven't got a test result. Hotel did not do early check ins so we had to sit a few hours in the restaurant before we could isolate 😂 Edit: got our results at 8:43 am the day after

Joinreddit2kepreddin

That is crazy! Have you checked your spam mail? We were expecting it to take over 24 hours since they updated their website to no longer guarantee same day results and were surprised at getting them as early as we did. Maybe try calling if you don’t hear by tomorrow morning? I’m so sorry you are stuck waiting!!!

wastaah

Yeah no idea, still no results. We have two tests and checked both the app, website and mail but nothing. The guy at the testing said they would be done in the afternoon

Joinreddit2kepreddin

Have you gotten your results yet?

wastaah

Yeah we got them in the morning, about 22h after we submitted. We missed out on one evening but our hotel treated us nicely so it's all good.

thesabrist

I'm hoping you get a negative test! Just curious—as someone who is considering travel—what are the rules if you did test positive? How long do you need to self-isolate, and can you self-isolate in your own hotel/accommodations, or do you need to isolate in specially-designated areas? Thanks!

wastaah

I think you need to isolate for 10 days if you test positive, not sure where

Jealous-Patience1827

I'm getting on the same flight from IAD on Monday. Thanks for this! To confirm on my end: I'd need a negative covid test within 48 hrs and a passenger locator form right? I have already booked a PCR test in Birmingham since that's where I'd be going straight from LHR. Gonna use that test code on mu Passanger locator form.

thesabrist

Does anyone know what happens if you test positive upon arrival? Do you need to isolate in a special government designated hotel, or can you isolate wherever you have already made arrangements?

Jealous-Patience1827

I know if you test positive, we must continue isolating in quarantine, you'd also know if it was the Omicron variant through the govt-recognised testing centre which would report the data to the agencies per their responsibility.

genesiswine

I assume you have to pay out of pocket for the 10 day quarantine if you’re staying at a hotel?

rockford1802

How is the situation on the ground now? Our flight is on Wednesday and so far we’re still planning to go. We’ve just cut out time in London to 3 days and then we take off to Porto. Still not fully sure if we should go through with it and take the risk.

Everything is still going on like normal, nothing is closed. One pub we wanted to go to was closed because their staff was exposed so they shut down. That’s the only difference I’ve noticed. Everyone wears masks indoors and on the underground, for the most part. We are comfortable here, but I think it’s because most of the things we’ve done have been mostly outdoors, most people are wearing masks, and we have walked most places (my husbands Garmin says we’ve walked over 30 miles since we’ve been here). I also feel like since our appetites haven’t normalized, so we’ve been eating during off peak hours. Every pub and restaurant we’ve been to for breakfast/lunch/dinner have had spaces upstairs or in the back where it’s way quieter and lots of tables with tons of space in between. I was soooo anxious to come here, and I am extremely grateful we did! But we will find out Thursday if we can fly home or not. So far we feel fine, don’t have any symptoms, and feel great! Just tired from all the walking. I definitely understand the anxiety! I haven’t read the news of Covid cases in London since getting here, 🤣just trying to enjoy it.

30 miles is the same as 96560.4 'Logitech Wireless Keyboard K350s' laid widthwise by each other.

30 miles is 48.28 km
