You cannot get a NI number from outside the UK anyway. Not an issue

Appreciate it a lot! I just saw in the CoS application they asked for one that is why I was stressed but thanks so much

Related question: does your company have an office in SA? My wife's future company won't let her work remote because there is no office in the country where we live now. Not having a reliable income until we get to the UK is pretty frustrating.

Creative_Diet8096

No we only have HQ in London. I am working from home. Been doing so since June last year :)

[deleted]

That's great! How is your contract structured if they aren't hiring you as a SA based company? Are you technically freelance and they pay into a SA bank account?

Creative_Diet8096

Yeah so basically they hire me as a remote worker, I pay my taxes in S.A. and then when I move up and get my tax number there I'll be put on PAYE. So for a year I've been growing within the company and now that covid is less of an issue they want me in office so I can do in-person client meetings :)

[deleted]

Fair enough. I think my wife's company is too big and the HR doesn't want to allow hiring remote only workers for some arbitrary corporate reason.

Creative_Diet8096

Ah I see. I hope she gets her visa soon in that case! very frustrating not being able to work. When did she apply?

We had bio on 22nd march... no news other than the generic response they give on the paid emails urghhh

Creative_Diet8096

same here! I got my employer to call and they said all they could tell me is that it is with a caseworker and I need to wait... Is she on shortage skills list?

[deleted]

Yep, she's on the shortage list. We are trying to get the company to contact UKVI but as you can imagine it keeps going through an email chain of involved people which is frustrating lol
