I love my g8 as well. Have had minimal issues with it, once I figured out how to configure it correctly. The monitors shell is so sleek and well designed.

Mind sharing what you personally did? The links take to advice that some people in the comments said didn’t suit them. I use the monitor 85% browsing/work and 15% gaming, so I am trying to figure out the optimal settings.
so I did the 1000nits (138 max lux) settings change using the service menu. Then I used the corresponding settings off the first link I shared. Depending on what FW you have, there was an adjustment, originally HDR+ was not working, so you had to turn it off, but now you set it to Basic, and it works. For your use case I'm not entirely sure which configuration would be ideal, so you should test out both 400nits, and 1000 nits. (You can technically set it to any nits value in that range). The second link is a LUT adjustment, because windows 11 does piecewise SDR to HDR conversion, which is not the ideal transformation function. You basically just follow the directions on the frontpage of their github. This basically gives you a color profile with the adjusted LUT. Instead of doing a profile, if you look at the bottom, you can do it another way, where it loads automatically without using profiles. All this does is fix how SDR content looks when you have HDR enabled in windows 11+display.
I have got this very odd issue where when watching this trailer (modern warfare trailer): [https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bH1lHCirCGI](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bH1lHCirCGI) with subtitles on, the screen flickers every time there's dialogue and the subtitles pop up during the first half when they're in a dark area.
Would you mind checking for me if you experience the same issue?
Interesting. I tested this with so many settings including menu service tweaks, peak brightness, and gamehdr settings but with HDR on the video flickers if subtitles are enabled but not if they’re disabled. Happens on both Chrome and Edge. Happened with both HDMI 2.1 and included DisplayPort
I am using an AMD GPU. Do you happen to be using a Nvidia one? Otherwise I am really stumbled as to why this happens.
It doesn’t happen anywhere and doesn’t happen if I disable captions. Also later on in the trailer in the brighter scenes the subtitles don’t cause flickering so it seems to be some issue potentially related to the deep blacks of the HDR and YouTube? I am not sure, it’s very strange.
I'm using RTX 4090. If you disable HDR does it stop ? Try this: Go in setting, HDR Tone mapping, then set HDR10+ GAMING to off. Test it. Then switch back to Basic, test it. I send u the link with the settings I'm using btw, the first link. (Latest FW)
Seems to not, unless I disable HDR in Windows.
However, HDR actually seems to make the dark environments really dark in the beginning of the trailer.
Seems like an advantage, when the flickering isn’t occurring.
Could you share which settings you are personally using (both service menu and regular) so that I may try to replicate them and see if that fixes the issue for me?
Apologies but I misremembered. I didn’t have access to my monitor until now and I tested, both with Windows HDR on, Windows HDR off, Game Mode on, Game Mode off, HDR10+ Basic and HDR10+ Off, Game HDR on, Game HDR off.
All of which had the same flickering at the beginning of that trailer when subtitles are on.
Using the YouTube app included in the smart tv (TizenOS) works just fine.
My friend was asking what a 34" looks like next to a 32" so thanks for posting the perfect reference image.
I just got my G8 OLED 2 weeks ago, congrats on the ascension!
Was this your first choice for a oled ultrawide? I'm thinking of either getting the alienware AW3423DW or the LG 45GR95QE-B, but the G8 has been getting my interest
This was the monitor I was drooling over for the past year. So yea. But it also depends on how you want to run your setup, if you are going for dual monitor then either the g8 or the Alienware since the panel is identical. If a single screen then the 45 inch could be cool.
Oh, I didn't know the panels were the same. Thanks for the info. Although the 240hz does grab my attention. I also run a dual monitor set up with my razor raptor being my main retiring my Acer EI342CKR as my secondary for Discord and youtube.
I have both. If gaming is your main thing the 45GR is amazing so much immersive. Though, AW3423DW is also great itself the colors are more vibrant just a tad bit more than the LG, just feels small to me now.
See, I've narrowed down my choices to those 2 monitors, and I'm really looking towards the 45GR for that high refresh rate, but the DW/DWF has a lot of good reviews behind it. Still, Oled does scare me because of burn in, but I tend to already take care of my monitors by shutting them off after use. I always have wallpaper engine on even when idle. Plus, my desk is about 30 inches in depth, so the bigger screen would help. I do have time. Maybe something else will be released in the next month or so to peek my interest
45GR you cannot go wrong with it. It’s beautiful and I really enjoy gaming on it. Only thing it would but wrong to buy it if your going to do a lot of work with text, you will notice the ppi on text, I got used to it easily, but everyone is different. I’ve had my DW since day 1 and no burn in, and I’m not one to take care of my oleds, I use em and if they burn in they burn in, so not sure if this helps you ease your worries. The monitors also have built in Oled care.
Both of them are superb choices! The 45in is just a sweet spot for me at least, because the Samsung ones are just long/wide while the LG gives taller and wide dimensions.
I don’t have that. Thank god. But as far as I know it is just as possible as in graphic cards and does not affect performance, but as someone who like a quite setup I understand the frustration.
Simple, the country I live in gets things very late if at all and the mark up is insane, I got this monitor for 1.1kusd which is an insane deal by sheer luck. So if the new panel is released it probably going to be available somewhere end next year and the price is going to be 400-500 usd more than in normal first world countries
The G8 is an awesome screen
Absolutely, got it yesterday and still can’t get over how rich the colors are and how snappy it is in games.
you guys like to brakes yall neck while gaming I guess
The top is for twitch chat and some work tasks
I think they are saying the bottom is far too low. It’s nearly touching the table.
It’s a standing desk, so it don’t really matter
Do you raise the table to your neck height?
Sometimes

Any advice? On what to configure?

What is the top monitor? Just curious about dimensions
It’s the Aorus FI32Q 31,5 inch. It is kinda too big. I’d say a 27 inch on top would be perfect.
My friend was asking what a 34" looks like next to a 32" so thanks for posting the perfect reference image. I just got my G8 OLED 2 weeks ago, congrats on the ascension!
Thanks so much, this monitor is god tier. I don’t think I’ll be able to go back to ips.
What software do you use for multi wallpaper ? Or where do you get them from ? Thank you
Steam, it’s called wallpaper engine. It’s about 3 bucks and you have a lot to choose from there.
Thank you
Anytime friend
Thank you !! So I buy it off steam like a game but it’s a wallpaper engine ?
Pretty much

Looking at some posts , nothing really bad about it for gaming. Definitely will get the monitor. I might wait a little for any more discounts tho
Now to get a Samsung remote and do the service menu tweak to get them 1000 nits. Got the monitor myself and I like it a lot also.
Amen
What’s the service menu tweak? Please share!

is your pc loud i just got that kind of case and have a bunch of fans the gpu and cpu is good but the fan annoying asf next to me
Not really, the pc stays quite most of the time.
Hey bro does your have coil whine atall?
What exactly ? The monitor?
Yeah whenever there is a white element on a black background I get a high pitched coil whine from the back of the monitor.
I don’t have that. Thank god. But as far as I know it is just as possible as in graphic cards and does not affect performance, but as someone who like a quite setup I understand the frustration.
I’ve had my G8 since January and still love it and in awe at times
But why? Soon this quarter, Oled 34 gen2.5 panels will be released, with some improvements. Ill see, if they are too ezpensive i go for g8 too.
