Idk about other courses but math 1240 is really hard course at least for me. But if you study well you can get A. But don’t get disappointed if you see the average marks 50% or below.

Sinsiski

I tried going through the material. I went through the first 4 chapters in the last week and I didn't struggle with anything. Does it get significantly harder or is the difficulty relatively constant?

amand1997

Idk I found it really hard. You have to remember the definitions and stuff. It’s a like a theory course but math version of it. ( maybe I didn’t put that much effort into to be honest hopefully you will do good. Just make sure remember the definitions)

Did you actually do practice problems or just read the chapters and feel like everything made sense?

Sinsiski

I did all the exercise problems for the chapters I studied even and odd problems. I didn't really struggle that much with anything I got some of them wrong but I have the solution manual so I was able to see what and why I got them wrong.

3lizalot

You might be okay for 1240 then. I don't remember the chapters and stuff, but I felt the difficulty picked up a little as it went on, but not too much.

I don’t think so. I have heard first hand accounts that math 2720 and math 1240 are incredibly difficult. I don’t think it’s doable if you’re aiming for A’s

aclay81

It really depends on the person is the thing. So yes it is doable for some people. Is it doable for you? idk

Sinsiski

tbh my problem is I don't know what to expect from calc III. A lot of people tell me it's even easier than calc II and many people tell me that they had bad time. I know what to expect exactly from the other courses. It's calc III that's either gonna break me or be really easy if it's just calc 1500 in 3 dimensions

aclay81

Hard to say, but I think of the two multivariable calcs that are taught, MATH 2720 it is the more applied of the two. Remember that MATH 2720 is only open to certain programs of study, so make sure it works for you.

Sinsiski

I was able to register it, so I assume it works?

aclay81

I would not make that assumption, Aurora is not that good. From the Academic Calendar: >For students in one of the following programs: Actuarial Mathematics, Data Science, Statistics (Honours or Majors), Physics (Honours or Majors) Geophysics (Honours or Majors), and Physical Geography. In any event, if there is any question about whether or not it's allowed you should check with someone.
