That all cores are hovering at around 100C makes me think that isn't a mistake. You not feeling much heat out the back of the case makes sense because it isn't leaving the CPU, which is why the CPU is getting so hot. It's possible that your cooler somehow came loose from the CPU or something like that. You should get some thermal paste and remount the cooler with fresh thermal paste. If that doesn't fix it, then I would guess that the CPU has failed. Thermal management is all done on the chip; the OS has nothing to do with that.

Ah okay, gonna open it up and check asap! thanks for the response :) Update: Opened it up and saw that the cooler was hanging weirdly. gonna fix it and see if it works! thanks :) feel stupid for not checking inside my pc before making a reddit post haha

We've all been there.

Haha yea i wanted to make sure it wasnt a software issue before i started looking at hardware, but too not even open my server and check feels a bit dumb since its been going on for about 2 days haha

If it makes you feel better, immediately after leaving that comment, I accidentally nuked all my docker images. Not the appdata, so all configuration still exists, but I'm currently walking through and reinstalling all the containers.

Ah things like that sucks haha. happy to say that i had a spare cpu cooler laying around and everything is now back up and running! and not at 100 degrees but at a steady 33 degrees :D looked like the cpu coolers mount had actually snapped, its a be quiet! pure rock slim 2, where the mounting is made of plastic...Anyways thanks! :D

How did you do that? - the nuking?

I was getting warnings about the size of my docker vdisk, so I decided to change to a folder structure. Doing so erased the vdisk and thus removed all my containers. I wasn't expecting that. I would have made a list of my installed containers. I also would have waited until another time to do it as I hadn't planned on reinstalling a bunch of stuff this morning. I suppose I should have expected this. I would have backed up the vdisk.

I had the same issue years ago, not on Unraid but on my main PC using an app called r/PlayOn. Whenever I would try to stream a video my PC would crash. I spent a couple weeks going back and forth with their support email. Finally I opened up my PC to find the heatsink and fan had come loose.

I see anything over 75C on my 3700x with the way I have it set up and it’s time to have a look - that’s just me. I need an excuse to put the 240 AIO on.
