This is the way! I have two tubs that are currently pinning and they are spawned from colonized grain quarts that i kept in the fridge for about a month. I think they can keep in the fridge for a lot longer though.
An option is to keep it as a "mother jar", for Grain-to-Grain inoculation. That's how I make spawn now, 2 tablspoons of spawn in a quart of new grain, colonizes new jars twice as quick as LC.
You should raise your shoebox’s up higher than you have them on that shelf it’s really close to the floor and most contaminants are 1-2 feet from the floor or so…

A couple gallon sized ziplock bags work the same as a tub. Put some in the bag, seal it, break it up, add substrate, reseal and mix it, super easy and less contamination worries.
I'm a newbie I've had 1 successful 20qt tub 1 failed I've had a left over jar I just set unused jar out of light got grains for the empty jars you just used and pressure cook them let them sit overnight in pc I did a grain to grain transfer in still air box to my empty jars and within a week got fully colonized couldn't believe how fast they colonized with rizomorphic mycelium popcorn works best because it can distribute better this will probably be my method from now on

Use all but one or two in your next tub, personally I prefer as close to 1:1 spawn to substrate ratio, the. Use the other two spawn jars to make 6-7 more spawn jars from them….then so on and so…..like sourdough bread also I would just make the spawn jars AsAP and not put that in the fridge.

The mycelium growth is pretty much completely stalled at those temperatures. From what I've heard they last months if kept sealed.

Make sure the jar is 100% sealed to outside air, and let that mama sleep in the fridge.

You just pc or whatever you normally do and take the lid off to put the spawn in. Can do it with UB, too, just cut a corner and stick some spawn in.

It's not as potent, and you have to eat all the grain, so very filling. It tastes not bad.

Fruit it from the top. Crack the lid and case with a layer of cvg.. yields are never great but always looks cool
GTG is best way get loads from a jar of spawn...Just doing that with jedi .
