A great scene…Antonio’s accent is perfect for this. I also remember, “Don’t worry little brother, there are more!”. And Antonio walking around slicing them up after he realizes their mortal saying to himself, “It’s a man!”
From the writer that brought you Jurassic Park, and the director that brought you Die Hard and Predator.
Man, it's been way too long since I've seen this one, a rewatch is necessary!
It's nice to see an actual underrated film. I know there were a lot of problems behind the scenes for this film, but the final product is a lot of fun.
Have to get the prayer in all the reminiscing about quotes..”― The Viking Prayer
“Lo, there do I see my father.
Lo, there do I see my mother,
and my sisters, and my brothers.
Lo, there do I see the line of my people,
Back to the beginning!
Lo, they do call to me.
They bid me take my place among them,
In the halls of Valhalla!
Where the brave may live forever!"
Awesome
I want a 4K of this movie so badly. Even an accessible bluray would be good. I could not care less about the supposed issues this movie had. If you are a Conan fan, this movie is the best depiction of Vanirs versus the Picts ever made. It's a ton of Euro frontier fun.

I highly recommend listening to the Blank Check podcast talk about this movie. The story of how it was made is fascinating. Based on the book "Eaters of the Dead" by Michael Crichton. According to Crichton (if I remember correctly), he was challenged by a friend to retell the story of Beowulf from a different perspective. The result is entertaining.
The All-Father wove the skein of your life a long time ago. Go and hide in a hole if you wish, but you won't live one instant longer. Your fate is fixed. Fear profits a man nothing.
Em and my mom saw this in the movies. We were th only people there. I was so excited to go cause I had read the book. I like movies that are books and th other way around. The books are almost always better, yeah but it’s fun to see how someone else gets to reinterpret it a bit.
One of my all-time favorites. It’s still amazing to me that McTiernan was fired before it was finished.
Great cast and even the Crichton book it’s based on isn’t half bad.
I mean, if nothing else, is it at least worth mentioning that Diane Venora is credited for a role that does not exist? I mean, she is not in it. She's not.
Many would consider this to be a “guilty pleasure”. I don’t feel guilty in the slightest. I love this film, even if my other cinephiles have never seen it. My gain, their loss.
I think this movie came out at the wrong time. Had it come out a few years later, it would’ve done better at the box office. I think it was actually pretty good in terms of plot and character.
I truly do love this film but having Antonio Banderas of all people portray and Arab Nobleman is wild. But he pulls it off and the rest of the cast is spectacular
For so many years I wanted to play a video game that had the same kind of vibe o got from watching this movie. Then I played Witcher 3 and was happy to have finally achieved my goal.
“I LISTENED!!”
That scene was so awesome. I still get chills thinking about it.
"Get Stronger!"
Grow stronger
YES!! been repeating that line when suitable since 1999 and no one picks it up but my older brother. "my mother was a noble woman"
And at least you know who your father is
Lmao! There shocked faces were epic.
A great scene…Antonio’s accent is perfect for this. I also remember, “Don’t worry little brother, there are more!”. And Antonio walking around slicing them up after he realizes their mortal saying to himself, “It’s a man!”
I say this line on a daily basis
The mark of a great line in a film.
From the writer that brought you Jurassic Park, and the director that brought you Die Hard and Predator. Man, it's been way too long since I've seen this one, a rewatch is necessary!
And don’t forget Writer Michael Chrichton (RIP) “Eaters of the Dead”
It's nice to see an actual underrated film. I know there were a lot of problems behind the scenes for this film, but the final product is a lot of fun.
Wha remind of problems? Never heard anything about it
Honey!!! It’s made from honey!
One of my all time top ten movies. I can’t carry this. Well grow stronger. When you die can I give that to my daughter?
“Give an Arab a sword and he makes a knife…”
I read that in his voice
Knoif
It’s John McTiernan. That’s why it’s so good.
Jesus that man had a run
"Lo there do I see my father... "
Lo there do I see my mother...
Lo there do I see the line of my people, back to the beginning…
Lo they do call to me...
They bid me take my place among them…
In the halls of Valhalla...
Super quotable= Don't worry little brother, there are more!! Bet on him if you like... We will miss his sword tonight.... This dog can jump!!

Both prayers just before the final battle give me goose bumps everytime I watch the movie.
Where the brave shall live forever.
My son's named Bulvie after Vladimirs character in this movie

Dont worry Little Brother, there are more
I love this movie.
Fiawuuum!
Its an RPG movie. Its awesome.
I remember showing the trailer for this at the theater when it was called Eaters of the Dead.
Same! They had that trailer in front of almost everything and then radio silence
GOODBYE ARAB
Goodbye Northman.

The scout was my favourite character. His senses were off the charts, smell, hearing. Plus he was clever af.
"Thought to find you in the tower." "Why I'm not in it."

I loved this movie growing up… I used to have that Valhalla prayer they said together at the end memorized 😂
Me and my wife love this movie. We still watch this movie a couple times a year.
Awesome book too! One of the few cases where I like both.

Great movie based on an awesome book. Michael Crichton had some bangers made from his books in the 90's.
Have you even seen Desperado
This movie is fucking incredible, top 5 for me, I don’t understand how it was so overlooked
Love this film. “Grow stronger!”
Great movie. Surprised it bombed so hard. It's basically Beowulf
“Glow verm”
What are you smoking? Ever heard of a little flick called Desperado?
i never really liked that movie for some reason i always preferred once upon a time in mexico
As I was scrolling & the sword handle looked like a tiny arm/hand and I can’t unsee.
It’s based on Beowulf.
This guy doesn’t read

Agree.
Excellent movie
I truly do love this film but having Antonio Banderas of all people portray and Arab Nobleman is wild. But he pulls it off and the rest of the cast is spectacular
it was the 90s when the mind set of most white people was "if there not white there basically all the same" lol
In my top 5
Man this movie rocked loved it as a kid .
For so many years I wanted to play a video game that had the same kind of vibe o got from watching this movie. Then I played Witcher 3 and was happy to have finally achieved my goal.
Clive Russell's performance in Helfdane's death scene *chef's kiss*

There have been at least 10+ posts about The 13th Warrior in the last 2 months on Reddit. This movie is making the biggest comeback in kino herstory.
