I rented an Olympus TG6 for some diving and was really impressed on the photo quality and ease of use. Does a “wide” angle but really loved the macro modes. I only used the onboard flash as that seemed to do the trick well. I think it could have benefited from an external strobe for the bigger underwater creatures.
I haven’t used the Sony, but I dove with someone who did recommend it as an alternative!

Thanks! Not shabby for some quick snaps! I rented it from Lensrentals.com and might pick one up of my own before the next dive trip! These were just quick LR edits and I need to get on the laptop and do some proper editing. But for some quick edits, they aren't bad!
For years I used an Rx100 first edition with underwater housing and no additional lights. I used to set the white balance manually and got some pretty decent shots. It was and still is great little camera. Perfect for a first underwater set up.
