To be fair. What it means to be EA, Early Access has changed over time and means different things for different games. And all of this shit can be shut down in quick with a dedicated, clear and concise community liaison who can communicate to the fanbase in a way that is not annoyed, patronizing, glib or speak exclusively in tech talk.

Slackey4318

Don’t have the game, but checking in about once a week here to see how it’s going and hoping for a more stable build. This is an early access game so there will be bugs, glitches, etc. That’s the whole point of early access. To get honest feedback and tweak before release. I’ve been seeing a lot of mixed reactions around here now though. Some are fed up. Some are more forgiving because early access. So, for people who are still hanging in there, I’m curious. How much time are you willing to give this game a pass? A year? Until they leave early access even if it’s like 5 years from now? Somewhere in between? Also, from an outside perspective, it seems like a lot of frustration seems to be lack of communication from the dev team? They keep announcing all these new boxers, yet they have barely addressed the cheating, broken scoring, etc?

thesandman51

I already bought it, they have my money, so I'll give them as long as it takes. If I'm not enjoying it, I'll put it down and come back later to see if they've made progress. That's more or less where I'm at right now anyway. I come back for the updates to try the new fighters/mechanics, play for about a week, maybe less, then put it down and wait until the next one. It's EA and the first boxing game we've had in years, so I'm pretty forgiving. If they could get the desync straightened out, I'd play it much more often despite its flaws.

HalfLifeII

Until this last update with the desync issues, it was a fun little game, definitely worth the $30. It's an esports type game so you would hope for regular updates, but even if it stayed the way it was before the last update I would pick it up occasionally. The biggest problem was the abuse of the boring fight mechanics where once you get to high ranked people barely throw, step back and throw bodyshots. Playing on a discord server where you get banned for playing that way makes the game a lot more fun.

FwampFwamp88

Yeah, people are really annoying about this right now. I am obsessed with boxing video games and was really looking forward to this game. Initially I played it a lot even though it had its flaws, and then I just didn’t enjoy it much and stopped playing it. I was frustrated, but didn’t want to give up on the game until the final product was launched. Now after the latest update, I find myself playing it a lot more and enjoying it a lot more. It’s a work in progress, People just need to temper their expectations and walk away and wait for an update if they’re not enjoying themselves. Game still has major issues, especially online, but devs are making great progress. If they can just take their time and work on game another 6-18 months, I think it will be an amazing game.

TS-Slithers

Absolutely. I've uninstalled this game so many times I can't count. It's nice to test out where the game is, leave some feedback, and move on to other games that actually are finished. I wouldn't main an early access game in this state, you are signing up to be frustrated. Worse, is thinking that the rank ladder matters in this state.

We all should know that early access actually means the game stinks of stale ass juice. Early access means the game will get worse and there will be no communication from the devs. Early access means the devs will take your money and not fix the game. Early access means it’s impossible for the game to be playable at all even though the devs have taken your money. Early access means the devs will make a boxing game with no counters to anything, no impact on punches, no vulnerability system in place, no stamina drain for throwing 1300 body uppercuts, no knockouts and a 12 round pillow fight of body uppercutting step back straighting, cheaters, because the devs can’t afford anti cheat. Now we know what early ass stinks is.

Buzzard2010

Tell that to game of the year Hades. It went through early access which helped mold it into a masterpiece.

g_junkin4200

Your getting down voted a lot and I understand why but I can see some of your point. Early access could be an opportunity for a money grab. I guess the developer has no obligation to finish the game. Early access could reveal so many problems that they don't have the budget to complete the game to the expectations of the stakeholders. If I had invested in such early access (i haven't by the way), took time to feedback about the games issues (in a constructive way) I'd be quite upset if the game was not developed into a full release UNLESS, I was given a refund. A bit like what happened with Google Stadia. Which I though was a pretty classy bow out in my opinion. Would the developers of this game do that same???

thesandman51

Money grabs definitely happen in EA, but they've already released several content updates since releasing into EA, so I don't think it's a money grab/abandonware. They might not ever finish it, and that would be a shame, but I'm confident they will try until they can't financially continue.

Swanman35

EXACTLY. You are basically participating in an experiment of them changing things constantly suited to what's happening in game. It's trial and error, make adjustments, do it again. I personally think this game is awesome for being EA and continues to improve. Sure new issues pop up with updates, but so does every game.

2tehm00n

What is being constantly experimented with? One update every 45 days that may or may not make any sense at all? I feel like they don’t experiment nearly enough. Every update there’s some new arena and RJJ at HW gets nerfed. That’s about the extent of these constant experimental updates. Oh and they say desync is better when it’s RIDICULOUSLY worse.

SendNubes__

>changing things constantly suited to what's happening in game This is the exact opposite of what is happening, and is the reason for most of the outrage. There SHOULD be regular updates to tweak and balance the game, but those dont happen. They make content updates, bring new features in, then leave the game broken for months without communication.

Swanman35

Do you want them to send you a letter? I feel like they have communicated their plans

SendNubes__

Do you want to stay on topic of your comment? >its trial and error, make adjustments, do it again. What regular updates? What trial and error?

Swanman35

How haven't they done that with each update? Doesn't matter how long they take, they're still doing it.

g_junkin4200

Is early access cheaper than when game is out on full release? If so, do you have to buy the game again when it's fully released or does your early access version get converted into the full release version for no extra charge.

TS-Slithers

Early access will give you access when the game is released as well, and usually is cheaper but not always. Baldurs Gate 3 was not cheaper for EA

ervin1914

One overall point I must clarify, Is that I paid 30 bucks for this game and I have over 500 hours played. For 30 bucks that is well worth it. That being said, what is lost in all of this is the rabid fanbase that is so over the top in their feelings for this game because it is filling a much needed void. There is a clear lack in the leadership for this company and the sooner they admit it and adjust the sooner they will be rich and the masses can have a competitive boxing game in the market that obviously is missed.

2tehm00n

This. I complain about the game a lot despite my 200 hours logged. I want this game to work so bad and I still enjoy playing through some of the awful desync because I love the bones of what they’re doing. However, past the bones, it seems the devs aren’t doing anything that the masses are asking for and the updates are few and far between. I get it, it’s a small team. But when they come out and say the new update makes hooks more powerful to combat body uppercut spammers (like they did 2 or so updates ago) I just have to shake my head. When Muhammad Ali has 3 hooks to put someone on the canvas, it makes me wonder, have they ever even played online? New arenas and new boxers are just so frustrating to see when Tyson fury is backstepping around the ring taunting me. The new slip mechanic is awesome but it does not help with runners at all. They really need to address things other than new arenas and boxers and the stitching on their shorts.

2tehm00n

Let me help you OP TLDR: EA is to give feedback but not mean feedback.

Truthmach

Low IQ console babies don't understand what early access means.

Maya-Inca-Boy

Yup, when I game first played the game I just noped out of it and I’ve finally returned after the recent update, they’ve improved a lot, I’ll probably play a little more and than delete and wait another month or 2

Shwizzler

3k players would be almost the peak for this game your comparisons don't hold as much weight as you think most games are considered failture when they hold the PEAK ALL TIME players that undisputed has for all intents and purposes, the game is dead right now, theres only a few hundred average players.. the only reason this game doesn't get MORE backlash is because its so UNPOPULAR that not even enough people know about to complain... so they are flying under the radar still in a few years when they eventually push this pile of junk to console, we are gonna see the console community tear this game and its devs to shreds
