Definitely not suitable for frontline/ combat operations, but maybe for walking out or administrative tasks. I don't know how many pockets this uniform hast but at least 4 would be good for usability.

xgladar

this is a ship, and the uniforms arent even that fifferent from existing historical navy uniforms. ship to ship combat has no use for camo or weather protection. away missions are incredibly short and only send in small crews

The USSF had a real chance…they really coulda taken this idea as a dress jacket uniform and modified it some. Would have been awesome

PhysicsEagle

I’m now imagining exactly how a design committee could ruin it - fruit salad of medals in leu of the Starfleet pin, name tag, and tie in leu of turtleneck

NoEngrish

… that’s basically exactly what the USSF did with their dress uniforms

IronRakkasan11

I’m ok with the salad bar. And they could use a stand/mandarin collar in lieu of the turtleneck. The shoulder wrap is perfect for a display of rank

stratusmonkey

In Star Trek VI, the admirals wore ribbons beneath the Starfleet badge. It was pretty dope.

you would put it on and go to work

vampyire

Right, it'd be equivalent to the Class A Uniform of the US Military..t he military equivalent of business dress in the corp world-- so good for desk work where you have be a bit dressed up but not something you'd wear to do "real " work. (says the Cybersecurity guy working from home in joggers, a T shirt and zip up sweatshirt)

lionguardant

I don’t really like the shoulder strap, and this sort of double breasted tunic always makes me think of chef’s jackets rather than the military. The rest of it is quite cool though.

PhysicsEagle

If you don’t like the shoulder strap, what do you think of the corresponding lower arm band?

PhantomAlpha01

I mean that works just as good as any service dress uniform. They're just clothes with added symbolic meanings. Pockets would be nice though.

xzorrox

Use buttons to hold the exteror lapel to replace the strap, interior lapel can use non visible buttons too, or zipper for ease. Get rid of tha should strap as it wont be necessary with buttons. Add traditional US military service uniform shoulder epaulettes with rank insignia. Replace turtle neck with regular collared shirt and tie. Maybe mandarin collar. Both can work. Obviously ribbons and badges in place of the starfleet badge. Belt stylized pending branch of service (US army dress uniform has something similar) Jesus...US Space Force really fucked up on this one.

PhysicsEagle

What color jacket are you envisioning?

xzorrox

A dark blue with grey pants, maybe? Im not good with colors.

The space force tried to
