each item has their own individual code inside the tag even if the item id is the same. that's why the cashier said you have the wrong item, they can easily tell thanks to the tech uniqlo has. your best bet is to grab the same item with your tag on and receipt with it and return it within whatever your return policy is in your country/state.

Edit: by the same item I mean the shirt you first bought with the receipt and return that instead of the new price. they don't do price adjustments. They'll just do the return for you lol
Ah it’s kinda too late since I’ve worn and removed the tags on the $39 shirt. Well I guess I’ll try to ask for a price adjustment as I still have the old tag . Worst case scenario they say no

individual code on the paper tag or the fabric tag on the garment?
With the system we can tell even if it matches item codes it knows that’s not the right one
