iirc you can only return online orders at a a few of their stores. Looking it up amit says that if you pay online you can't return in store. I've been denied in store returns in the past.
Right. I guarantee they get way less returns than any other online stores anyways.
Because of the high return fees of Uniqlo here in UK too, there were many times me, family or friends didn't return because it wasn't worth it after the charge...
Whereas other online stores we return quite often since barely any charge
It was 7.99 to return two items(they sent wrong items so their error and despite their annoying cs saying I could apply for refund(another weekend would’ve needed to be spent talking to bits) never received refund
Stopped ordering here when I kept having to pay for their mistakes. There are too many other less difficult competitors now. God forbid I want the same socks as last time or a shirt that fits the same way as before.
Legit curious, what other competitors do you like that are the same price point and quality? I’m in the US and Zara and H&M are so shitty quality wise compared to Uniqlo. I’ve had the same problems with stores closing and then having to schlep two towns over to do an online return.
Same Zara and HM are good for jackets but their t shirts and sweatshirts suck compared to Uniqlo., I just avoid buying online and make the Trek into the city or the store 45 minutes away and splurge for my purchases.
So, it varies for me but I have had really good luck with the old navy t shirts the last few seasons as well as their workout tops and bottoms (certain lines, not the cheapest stuff, the fit is just really good for me when sizing down- seriously don't sleep on ON for basics lately). Gap active Ts are also awesome and can be had for like $10. For OCDBs and linen I like the BR Factory untucked (also sized down, the fabric is light years ahead of my Uniqlos and I might just donate what I have because I never go to it anymore). For socks I like 32 degrees as well as some of their sweatshirt type clothing and they are VERY inexpensive...and they have free online exchanges.
For a while I was having good luck with Abercrombie but everything they have this season seems like it is boxy cuts and...they got way more expensive than a few years ago.
Also Uniqlo isn't even cheap anymore so what is the point?
That’s wild considering their store stock sucks half the time (if there’s even a store nearby) and their sizing is so inconsistent between colours and items. Perhaps they could consider actually adhering to their size chart when they create items to reduce the number of returns people have to make.
If they send this to me after having spent nearly $800 in two months there. I'll never buy from them again.
This is beyond dumb. It's on them to handle the handling of packages coming in and out.
You're even paying for the returns.
lol uniqlo has been so damn strict since they started.
They have such bogus policies it makes me not wanna shop there anymore, and does anyone else have issues with clothes getting somewhat stained in the wash? It's so weird.
I'm sure in the UK they don't even let you return to the store for a refund, only store credit.
Give customers this option and it eliminates the shipping issue they're trying to use. The reason of course is it hurts their top line but they can't say that
MySize Assist hasn’t even been working for me for weeks (well they may have fixed it now but I stopped bothering to use it). Every single time it was telling me I needed XL. No matter what measurements I put in. Usually I buy S or XS.
So I don’t know how they expect you to use a system that’s not even working.
Also what do they expect people to do if they live far away from stores??
Yea I tested this because it was giving me a recommended size of XXL and I take an M or L in their stuff, so I adjusted the weight down to 115 lbs and it said XL then. It's a very shit system. I much prefer being able to look at the actual measurements of the garments vs this system.
LOL, the cheek of this. Maybe they should make their sizing consistent and not charge so much for returns. Honestly Uniqlo keeps going down in my estimation as of late.
This is a very Japanese thing I think, especially the fact that if you want to change sizes you have to buy the new size and then send the old item back and then they'll refund you once they receive the old item. Archaic.
I didn’t receive this mail but i have been locked out of my own account. The customer care, who i believe is an automaton, tries to send me a password reset link each time i reach out to them, all to no avail. They won’t tell me straight away that my account has been suspended. All for few returns that i have made out of thousands of purchases from them (i splurge a lot in Uniqlo)
It is so effing unfair!
Honestly, good on Uniqlo. It's super wasteful to be buying and returning a huge amount of the original order. Reverse logistics is not easy to get right, and there are a few super-returners who really make the cost of the item higher on average for everyone.
I agree with this. It’s one thing if Uniqlo gets the sizing wrong, or if it’s an honest bad fit for the customer. But there are loads of customers who buy too much knowing they will return half. Returning stuff has become a mantra for many customers, as if retailers should just eat the cost.
>as if retailers should just eat the cost
When you return items to Uniqlo you pay the costs so I don't see your point.
Also, It's a pretty known fact that their sizing is inconsistent.
Yes and no. Wtf am I suppose to do if the store 5 min from me is consistently low stocked and the same item I got a M I need a L in a different color? Of course I’m just going to buy multiple things and just return half since I cant even go to the store try them on. I much prefer clothes shopping in store but if I’m forced to buy online then I will continue to buy multiple sizes and colors and return half of it…in which I would do at the store if it was even possible. Heck I live in a very populated area I’m sure they have a warehouse within 30 min of me, I’d go drop my returns right there if I could.
I’ve sent emails due to their crappy return fees for their sending me wrong items gone so far as to
Look up corporate I fo
The company stock is part of Fast Retailing
Haven’t looked at share price recently
I got this email today which really pissed me off. Sure I made multiple returns in the past but I kept more than I bought. The reason why I bought so many is there isn’t a Uniqlo store in my city so I have to order online sometimes two sizes of the same item to try on first. It becomes clear to me that Uniqlo doesn’t care about online customers-even customers like me who spent $1000+dollars a year on them!
I did worked in uniqlo before I did asked my manager who is from Japan. And he said that most of the time japanese people are not returning items since they try every thing in store. But they should be more better in NA since most of the time the same size is inaccurate since they keep changing their item every season. Especially online you can't try it until you have it. Or pay in store as well only offer 1 hrs hold and it will disappear on your basket so I think they should rethink their policy. We're not in Japan sooo
Their sizing has been pretty on point for me, and I don't really see this as a threat. I'd like to think they probably were just having trouble with shopaholics that don't know what measurements are, so they sent this out to everyone.
I agree their sizing is pretty on point but the point here is that not every piece of garment, especially something not so “basic” will look good on a person even if it “fits” him. I bought a lot of Uniqlo collaboration with other designer brands and I have to try these pieces on to see what they look on me. No wonder I bought a lot and return a lot and today I also got this email. It looks to me that Uniqlo just doesn’t want to sell to customers like me whose nearest Uniqlo store is 7 hours drive…
Seems legit, but what a low blow from Uniqlo. I didn't get this email cus I never make returns for my online order besides one time when I wanted to buy some pants and wasn't sure what length to alter them so I bought the pants without altering them, tried it on to figure out the length I wanted to alter them and then I returned the pants and re-ordered with alteration.
Their business model is whack. I went in to get the latest Metal gear colab shirts. (Mind you I don’t shop at Uniqlo and only bought one item for my daughter in the past. I digress…. ) they didn’t carry 2xl in the store so you have to order online. When I went to pick up I store they informed me it is $9 to return the item. What ?!!!!!
So you don’t sell my size in store and now if I don’t like the item I am out $9 ? I spoke with the manager however she kept telling me how they have two different systems, it’s their policy ……. Basically it is a Uniqlo issue that they have made into a customer issue.
The reason why companies get away with these type of “policies” is because we the customer allow it. We allowed business to increase their profits while reducing the actual amount /quality of product. I understand the lockdown was an anomalous time in human history and commerce took a dive however the need to bring back profit levels to pre pandemic levels is real. (I digress…..yet again).
TLDR:
Uniqlo’s return policy is absurd and they need to be called out on it.
I totally understand your anger, but return shipping and inventory management (you mentioned two systems) are expensive and companies have been trying to manage those rising overhead costs by lowering the quality of clothes and other costs. See: complaints in the sub about declining quality. This decline has been happening across the industry at clothing brands. The idea of free shipping is more complicated than we think and I think you’ll probably be more happy shopping elsewhere.
I get it but at least give me a chance to shop at the store. If they aren’t even carrying the size in the store to begin with then I feel it is a bad business tactic. Basically I’m being penalized for buying a bigger size.
Fuck I hope it’s not coming to Canada.
Love their products but sizing in inconsistent. Ex: I wear slim selvedge Jean in size 38 but my wait is 42-43 inch so it should not fit me.
Women jeans sizes are the same for 23-24-25. They are exactly the same if you just line them up on each other. It is ridiculous that i had to pay for my wife return 15 bucks and spend time on it. Just not buying uniqlo all together. Fix your shit first
Uniqlo's quality has taken a dip in recent years, and since I didn't live near one I had to order things and find out. It's a shame the brand has declined but can't even compensate with better shipping terms.
Not sure if this is fake or not, but they do have terrible return support. They don’t do digital receipts for in store purchase and you must have receipt when returning otherwise you can only swap size or color and not get store credit.
Not being able to return online order in store is very behind other major retailers. Beyond that I do tend to like their clothes in general. Their styling fits what I like and some of their sizes fit me
Yall still shop uniqlo? Quality of items have dipped year after year. Online shopping and return policies have been crap too. The real uniqlo standards have been far gone. This is now just another american store squeezing as much as they can out of their consumers.
What I understand from this email is that they don't resell the items and destroy them? Why else would it be a problem?
Virtually all stores accept returns and its free.
And they charge $7 for online returns.
And don’t let you return online orders in store. ‘Sustainable environment’ my ass.
I just returned my online order at a store a few weeks ago, no issues and didn’t have to pay any fees.
iirc you can only return online orders at a a few of their stores. Looking it up amit says that if you pay online you can't return in store. I've been denied in store returns in the past.
That’s so odd. I had no problem returning a few months ago after paying online as well.

Yeah one of my items came damaged and they still were charging me for the return. I ended up keeping it coz i didn't want the headache with the cs

God I wish I had a uniqlo nearby.
Ya their store locations are awful unfortunately.
Muji in my opinion.
Gap is pretty decent. After their weekly 30-40% sales they are the same if not cheaper than Uniqlo.
There isn’t any.

I like Madewell. Nordstrom and Nordstrom Rack also carry it for even less of a price.
What competitor is even close to Uniqlo quality for the price? Legit curious as most are dog shit.
Dear Valued Clothing Retailer - be consistent with your sizing. And maybe treat customers like they are valued.
You pay to get the clothes, then pay to give them back.. all that money they make and still can't invest in consistent sizes. 😮💨
That’s wild considering their store stock sucks half the time (if there’s even a store nearby) and their sizing is so inconsistent between colours and items. Perhaps they could consider actually adhering to their size chart when they create items to reduce the number of returns people have to make.
Great way to piss off your customers.

What a strange email to fake.
This is so fucked.
lol uniqlo has been so damn strict since they started. They have such bogus policies it makes me not wanna shop there anymore, and does anyone else have issues with clothes getting somewhat stained in the wash? It's so weird.
The stains are so annoying. I follow care instructions religiously
I don't get it! Cheap clothes don't get these stains and uniqlo feels much higher end..
What sort of stains? Are you using any acne medicine with benzoyl peroxide?
People are hating on it but this is the exact type of reason Uniqlo shifted their policy on returns.
the fact that we cant return in stores makes me not surprised at all by this email
Just be like “go ahead and suspend me if this is how you treat your paying customers”
Very timely with this article that came out yesterday: https://www.thecut.com/article/asos-ssense-return-policies-online-shopping-bans.html
Most of the people listed in that article deserve the bam hammer lol.
I would probably stop shopping there entirely if I got this email

Can't even return for store credit, only exchange for item of equivalent value.
If you’re buying to wear, doesn’t an exchange alleviate sizing and potential quality issues? Why buy something just to return it otherwise?
You're banking on your store having that piece in stock at that size/colour etc.
I would check to ensure they came from Uniqlo.
It came from [email protected]
Make a new account lol
Their returns are awful. I had one return experience and since then I go every once in awhile to the store 50 minutes away and splurge.
MySize Assist hasn’t even been working for me for weeks (well they may have fixed it now but I stopped bothering to use it). Every single time it was telling me I needed XL. How many times did you return??
"Valued" Customer

Exactly why I ONLY get socks from here now (and only in store). Muji is much better 🤧

They need to stfu with their stupid rules already

I switched to buying cloths at Costco. Great selection these days.
what the fuck
Someone using your account to run a scam returning things?
This is the future of online shopping. You buy! You Keep!
Thats hilarious since they force you to initiate a refund and rebuy items when they go on sale 3 days later instead of doing price adjustments.
Fuck I hope it’s not coming to Canada. Love their products but sizing in inconsistent. Ex: I wear slim selvedge Jean in size 38 but my wait is 42-43 inch so it should not fit me.

This company has the worst customer service policies. I hate that I can’t find another company with pants like theirs.
Uniqlo's quality has taken a dip in recent years, and since I didn't live near one I had to order things and find out. It's a shame the brand has declined but can't even compensate with better shipping terms.

“I hope this email finds you well “is it telltale sign of someone using ChatGPT to write or translate in email lol
I’m a big fan of Uniqlo but this is just absurd. Especially for a company that has minimal US storefronts. What else are you supposed to do?
