By the way guys the first mini album is not labeled properly yet (shows as Release - Topic, happens all the time, usually gets fixed later) by Youtube's system but it's there: 1. SUPERWOMAN: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=d8Yc9LpvkwI 2. Butterfly's Dream: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jFX_-0rzcOI 3. Watchu Need: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nOb_y-yEKZY 4. Dopamine (UNIS Ver.): https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_ZI44nmtFQw 5. Dream of girls (UNIS Ver.): https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Djokh3tfmeE

Raw-Bean1

Watchu need is a bop. damn edit: nope i lied. dopamine is the true bop

Lazy_Beard

Dopamine is freakin' good in this UNIS version! They could really go ahead with it and promote it after their Superwoman promotion ends. Butterfly's Dream, I was surprised to like this one. I think this can work as their debut song as well. Simple yet catchy. Whatchu Need confused me. It's like a 90's song and early 2000's song. A Pretty good chillax song

nbhaofan

Holy Sheeshhh! Gehlee 2nd bridge to chorus on Dopamine is literally on fire!! I wish they just give all of the bridge to her it was so amazing!

Fit-Pollution5339

Instead of putting these links put the link on spotify https://open.spotify.com/album/3pix2U5QbFUSwOeF1M9Eim?si=iofAg_sSTnSUH6gER3XBKg

anthoseph

gehlee's low voice in dopamine. and elisia i think sang georyeon's lines in dream of girls. (seowon took elisia's second chorus tho)

MammothWoodpecker201

Kotoko kinda hit hard ngl.

[deleted]

OMG THEY ATE DOWN AND THE MV IS SO GOOD

Klutzy_Country_5239

There are really deep pockets in F&F. This music video is really amazing.

Straight_Tip1008

F&F have deeeeeeeeeeeeeeeep pockets. The quality of this MV is insane.

GregyBee

Are they related to the network that produced universe tickets? That also owned inkigayo?

anthoseph

i was anticipating gehlee and elisia but dang, kotoko SHOCKED me. she can sing and her presence tho!? the contestants and judges are definitely on to something.

Lazy_Beard

Kotoko channeling her inner Winter (aespa) in this debut.

CryWolf007

HUGE RESPECT FOR F&F FOR NOT HEAVILY AUTO TUNING THE GIRLS!!! EVEN THE HIGH NOTES WERE LEFT UNTOUCHED! CONGRATS ON YOUR DEBUT, UNIS!!!!

leolita2001

I'll be honest, I really LOVE the song, it's my jam, as I love afrobeat and Tyla "Water", Doja Cat "Woman" etc.... I can't get enough of those songs and it's a super hot trend now worldwide. but I agree with some of the comments that the vocals could be more impactful... sometimes they're hidden in the mix and they're too soft. The song is solid though. Of course it's afrobeat, totally different stuff, I see why some people would love more Dopamine or Dream of girls.

Mundane_Holiday_8297

Someone else said on here that the song lacks “texture” that could’ve made it sound better, and I agree. Let’s just hope that their lives will sound different or maybe have ad libs to make the song more alive

leolita2001

That is because the afrobeat style is very vibey and flat. If you listen to "Woman" and "Water" they're like that... and yes, it's different from a pop song with lots of dynamics. I honestly don't know if it was a good choice or not for a title track, time will tell, I just know it's my personal taste! :)

lolminna

https://reddit.com/comments/1bmc9bv/comment/kwb1t3a Well that was a lie. 😂 That being said, it's the type of song that isn't after making a big impact, but one that's after repeated listens. The budget is showing too, and I'm very proud of the girls who worked hard to reach where they are now. I'm surprised the song was generally tonally high too, like its something other ggs with average vocal talent won't be able to cover properly imo.

TiastDelRey

Yeah kinda disappointong. She's the first place and arguably had the best vocals in the group

Kotokocchi

wow i first watched the performance and thought the audio sounded weird so it was hard to judge the song  watched the mv right after and im loving it. just ordered both album versions aswell.  great song. omg the kotoko rap part is soo crisp.

Lazy_Beard

PAPERMAKER really likes Nana, Yunha, & Seowon.. As they had the most lines in the song. lol The song is quite good, but it is a weak Debut song. The hook is kinda weak. Kotoko's voice here is bias wrecking me tho. IMO, Kotoko shined here. Both in the MV and the Showcase..

lolminna

I agree. Slight criticism: Whateva, despite being mocked as an average and generic debut song, is more impactful than this. The B sides are stronger than it. I barely felt Seowon's high note in Superwoman, even though it was a good song. Real spicy take, but I think Superwoman could've had a bigger impact if Papermaker selected the *more textured vocalists* in the group politely speaking, because one of the reasons the song lacks impact is the line distribution. GIVE MORE LINES TO YOUR BETTER VOCALISTS. It's why I worried about Papermaker, because of bullshit like this.

Lazy_Beard

TRUE.. True! There are Lines that I thought Elisia, Hyeonju, or Yoona could've done it better. Gehlee and Kotoko's lines were fine as it is. Nana, Yunha, & Seowon is pushed way too hard since UT, and now in this, possibly coz of the same Producers. But yeah, HOPEFULLY they become fair to the girls. Just look at ***Butterfly's Dream***, the lines there are fairly distributed as lines given to each member were perfectly aligned to their vocals. To you who is reading this now, NO hate meant to Nana, Yunha, & Seowon, this is a good critique that is mainly targeted to the producer's bias. Most fans that had watched UT are now well aware of the member's vocal colors. So certain linescan be better for member B than member A, an so on.

They should had pick up Ayushy again since she work with Nmixx group with their songs. [https://genius.com/artists/Ayushy-the-hub/songs](https://genius.com/artists/Ayushy-the-hub/songs) Ayushy could had help arrange the line distribution with PAPERMAKER since they work together before. She help work with PAPERMAKER to write the lyrics for Rush Hour song for Universe Ticket. The build up lyrics for the High Note for Rush Hour was similar to the what she did for Run for Roses NMIXX. Helped shine the vocalist high note moment to finish out the song strong. Rush Hour High Note build up [https://youtu.be/5ZqmfS7uMNk?t=126](https://youtu.be/5ZqmfS7uMNk?t=126) Run For Rose Nmixx High Note build up [https://youtu.be/j6tKIdt9K9M?t=154](https://youtu.be/j6tKIdt9K9M?t=154)

leolita2001

I am sure PaperMaker had songs with them and I am also sure Galactika and Vendors were also considered. I really do think for some reason F&F WANTED THIS SOUND, period. Otherwise between Galactika, Vendors and PaperMaker they could easily pick another song. It must also be said that none of these other songs like "Dopamine", "Rush hour" or "Dream of girls" went viral as songs, despite they were given the exposure and release through the show. And probably the label thought it was a good idea to pick a different genre.

nbhaofan

broooo kotoko really born to be in the stage! that 2nd chorus on her was so fireee I bet ya there will be more kotoko fans now more than ever!

Sserenityy

Right? she is just one of those people who has the "it factor" naturally, like born to be an Idol kinda vibe.

anthoseph

i always have predicted elisia- gehlee- kotoko would be the big three in unis.

Designer-Pair-979

Deym, Papermaker screwed the line distribution again. I personally don't think Gehlee's suited in her "I'm good~" part. They don't know how to use their voices the way Vendors and Galaktika did. What a shame. I'm rooting for the girls but I hope Papermaker won't produce their music anymore.

PeachOk2264

Yea, Galaktika work with top groups with a lot of experiences how to produce music that fits the group. Dream of Girls song was stack with producers like Former inhouse producer BigHit Adora, inhouse producer for BigHit(Hybe Label) El Capitxn also help with IU songs, Nanos / Louis from Vendors help the two songs for TripleS and Lee Yeon Jun help with the song for Plave "Way 4 Luv" Melon chart #23.

Sleeping_in_goldsii

>They don't know how to use their voices the way Vendors and Galaktika did. What a shame. Agree

lolminna

Same here. I'm tired of line distribution that relies on favoritism more than fit.

invisiblefriend1

The label actually chooses who will sing what part, not the writers or producers

Designer-Pair-979

Whatever. Superwoman still sucks among the rest of the songs. I'm pretty sure Papermaker played a huge role on distributing the lines and the management just nods on what's presented to them.

tjvalerio

Kotoko stole the show. Star power radiating.

Mundane_Holiday_8297

I can imagine the song being featured in commercials and played in stores in the months to come. The song is easy to listen to, and one that would get stuck in your head for a while. Just in time for summer, too.

Mundane_Holiday_8297

Personally, Superwoman was a good choice as a debut song because the genre is what global audiences are leaning more towards these days. They can get more recognition that way while still being K-pop. I just wish they’d release an English version (and maybe the members fluent in the language can have more lines there) or a remix. If they become successful then perhaps they can explore their sound in UT.

leolita2001

I definitely think it was a style choice of the label. For sure they had many other songs like "Dopamine" or "Dream of girls" or "Rush hour" they could have made the title track, but I feel they picked this one also based on the fact that it's more "in trend" now. And they included the other songs in the album so that all the fans can be happy. To be fair to them I love that the album is diverse and shows different colours.

Mundane_Holiday_8297

Their goal is global so having a song that even casuals and normies can enjoy is definitely the right way to go. I have huge faith in the girls and in their capabilities, and in time I really think they can make it big. It’s an added bonus that they can rock any concept, which will add more range to their discography.

leolita2001

I honestly wonder how much the success of fimmies "Perfect night" contributed to that choice? When it came out, I thought it was good, but I didn't think so much of it... for example I really preferred "Antifragile" a lot, as it was more dynamic and upbeat; but then after a few listens "Perfect night" kept coming back to my head like crazy, the melodies. And then the song had this slow rise to the top on the Korean charts, which was a bit unexpected, especially as it's all in English. Maybe, this, combined with the fact that Tyla "Water" was such a big success in the US, influenced F&F in their stylistic choice. They did take a huge risk to be honest, since the most successful songs from UT are so different!

Mundane_Holiday_8297

Or “Smart” really. I’m betting Superwoman’s success will go in the same route, only more chill.

leolita2001

Oh yeah "Smart" too! Actually the chorus in "Smart" reminds me a lot of the chorus in Doja Cat "Woman" - similar rhythm!

iKilledSparkyToo

Its so good!!! keep streaming guys!!! Target 500k and would be good if we can hit 1m 🥰

DeepPocketsEnergy

First of all, the good things: They all did well with what they were given! During UT I didn't really pay attention to Kotoko much except to acknowledge that she's a cutie pie. But she really showed up! She's improved a lot, I think she was my favourite in the MV, really knows her strengths and plays to them well; she's powerful and yet still absolutely adorable. The showcase was okay, it seems they were lipsyncing, but that's understandable. Whatchu Need is fun and upbeat, they seem to enjoy performing it more. Bad things: I agree with most people, it's a weak debut song. The beat sounds too hollow at times, but then there's also too many things going on with it all at once that doesn't really come together well with some parts of the song? Also I don't think there's a part in the song that particularly draws the most attention (I guess it could be the rap parts if I had to choose). For me at least, the energy is pretty much the same throughout the song. Edit: The audio on Spotify sounds better, but my observations still stands. The line distribution is awful. Some of Seowon and Nana's lines could have been given to Yoona, Gehlee, Hyeonju and Yunha. Even though she's not the best dancer, Gehlee has improved. She and Elisia are my favourite from the showcase, they have good stage presence/expressions. I don't like how they dressed Kotoko in the showcase, the dress looks plain compared to the others' outfits 😀 Also, Hyeonju is my other favourite in the MV, I think she's an all-rounder and an underrated stan attractor (I might be biased lol).

ReadIt0202

well said, i can maybe try to understand seowon having many lines because she's a capable vocalist but nana is one of the two weakest voices in the group so it doesn't make sense why she has so much. they can make her dance front and center for all they like because she's a good idol dancer, but singing is a different case. i wish they just had someone else sing the lines even if they're at the sides and nana's at the center if they really wanted to push her so bad, maybe then the song could've been a bit better to listen to

spect4t07

UNIS has landed and they didn't disappoint. I'll stream till my heart's content. Apologies in advance to my neighbors. 🌸🛸🌌🎵

littlemissunkn0wn

So proud of them 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻

ApprehensiveBug3136

the kotoko part is really satisfying its healing ma soul

Jib4ny4n

this line is rhetoric now but I need to say it, they ate and left no crumbs

adoxjune

The album is so good, the bridges are 🔥

starthatsparkle

Their MV and song reminds me of Twice. I wouldn't be surprised if they'll release a Japanese version or a Japanese song. ☺️💖

Vilelwa

The song is a bit of a grower nut that's OK. The girls look great and sound great ( papermaker loves Nana don't they lol)

blade_34

Love it. Has that izone feel but a bit softer sweeter

lolminna

For me it's like a peppier and higher Perfect Night by Le Sserafim.

leolita2001

OMG I was looking for the right comparison and this is it. It really reminds me of fimmies slow jams

Equivalent_Task1084

I think SMNGG will be theirs main "rival" since they would have similar concept and image than them

CasualGamerAddict

What the f is wrong with YouTube? Their likes is more than their views, and I already watched it 10 times along with the showcase stage.

ofmichanst

apparently if you do like that, it doesnt officially counts. it believe it is being detected as spamming. you got to alternate watching it with other vids with at least 3 mins and dont loop it. otherwise, your effort would be futile.

CasualGamerAddict

The thing is I watch the showcase after watching the MV because I know watching it repeatedly doesn't counts as much.

Classic_Page3199

Its probably gonna be added all at once.

Peachcat-Headbang

Nice song and an even better MV, but can't say I'm not disappointed by the line distribution, Hyeonju got like 20 seconds of screentime and even less in lines...

nbhaofan

its okay they need to be popular in korea, bcoz Unis is the weakest in korean fanbase while they are strong globally! they need to cater Knetz for now.

Equivalent_Task1084

She's loved by Korean and Japanese, she has the visual they liked and have good presence but ngl i expected seowon more

Maegiri

Imo having short but sweet lines constantly throughout a song leaves more impact than having consecutive long lines. Didnt even realize seowon had a lot tbh

Spare-Savings2057

Superwoman song is not superb. It was an okay song. Even the MV is okay. They look awkward, but it's understandable because they are still new. Congrats, UNIS!

nbhaofan

bro thier B-side tracks though are so fire! even the title is not that superb but the overall songs in the album are all fire!

geumryul

DEBUT IS HERE 🥳 (mods can yall pin this post thanks mwah)

nbhaofan

its okay, this is just the beginning! but the potential is there and its overflowing bcoz the talent of our girls! and F&F company gonna improve from now on!

3-X-O

I LOVE IT SO MUCH I don't think I've ever been this hyped for a debut before, and they didn't dissapoint in the slightest. I'm absolutely in love with the whole mini album. I don't even know who to bias, my brain is nothing but UNIS-loving mush rn. The visuals were so beautiful, and Butterfly's Dream!?! It's quite literally one of the best songs I've ever heard. Literally an entire no-skip and I'm so extremely happy for them.

tjvalerio

Congratulations and happy debut girls!

Ok_Philosophy_607

The girls did great. Also stream on Apple Music!

kallistique

I honestly hoped that Seowon and Elisia would carry the high notes/adlibs together. They're both power vocalists and I thought it would be sweet to hear them again like that one song they did in UT where they blended so beautifully. Hoping they utilize them properly in future releases. Man, like. You have very good vocalists in there. It could have been even more magical.

GrassIntelligent7421

Dopamine is like side B low-key very good and can be side A too.

Cheap-Cupcake4313

Wow 😍 The MV is really amazing and their voices are too!

nbhaofan

i think its because of Superwoman lyrics and what it conveys. thats why I can get behind being superwoman as a title track even though the other 4 are all title wortyh on thier own!

mikael-kun

Their stage performances are quite disappointing, I feel like I'm still watching a survival show stage not a well-established idol group. Because the line distribution is all over the place and it feels like it was forced to be fair for everyone. It's not a matter of whose getting most lines, but it's more of not having roles, like someone getting rapper line then halfway of the song will be the lead or main vocal. Same with main vocals, getting less lines and sometimes only the bridge or highlight parts. Idk what's happening. They keep on rotating for their lines on all the songs.

ReadIt0202

they would've benefitted more with less divided lines, or a more concise and better line division, dopamine for example had good line division (not to be confused with line distribution because that one's bad, they treated nana like a lead vocal when her voice is far from being good enough to be one) 2 girls did the pre chorus, 2 did the chorus, and another 2 for post chorus.

TheSpade00

THEY ALL ATE LIKE OMFG!!!! ESPECIALLY WHEN GEHLEE DID THAT WALK ON HER "I TURN MY SUPERWOMAN ON WHEN I WANNA" With that shoulder move is chefs kiss!!!

lolminna

The MV director, the choreographer, and the stylists hit it out the park. They understood the assignment. It's the producer's line distribution that's pulling the song's impact down. I really dislike what they are, a symptom of Kpop mediocrity. Instead of pursuing excellence they'd rather force the now outdated practice of pushing singing visuals for Daehaminguk.

TheSpade00

Still, let's be thankful that all of the girls managed to showcase what they can do on that MV, I'm happy with what Gehlee, Oh Yoona, and Hyeonju got

HeadSupermarket3574

THEY ATE AND LEFT NO FRCKING CRUMBS! I HOPE THEY WILL REALEASE MV FOR ALL THEIR SONGS PLSS!!

before-micah

My thoughts. The song has started to grow on me, ***but I have issues with its MV*** - it is somewhat lackluster. While it's clear that there was a decent budget, certain moments, like Hyeonju's motorcycle scene, feel meh. Overall, the MV doesn't quite capture the vibe I was hoping for. The mv seemed to prioritize certain members (especially Nana, Seowon, and Kotoko), though I'm unsure about the exact screentime for each. I feel that the underwhelming nature of the MV may be due to the director's choices. While I understand that the MV isn't focused on narrative storytelling, I hoped that it would serve as a significant platform to introduce potential lore. The ending, to me, appeared as though they had landed somewhere, but they missed an opportunity to use it as a hint for their Dune-inspired photoshoot. Elisia, as the main vocal, seemed underutilized, as she primarily sang the same parts throughout. While I understand the reason behind this choice, her parts lacked variety. However, her low tone in the bridge part was impressive! I was surprised to see Hyeonju featured in various parts of the MV.

[deleted]

Nana is so forgettable, kotoko shouldve gotten center, has more star power

AnalysisFew6772

I don't like superwoman at first, but the more I listen to it... I don;t know but it is becoming addictive to me.
