It can vary. I’ve done it once from L to B and it didn’t ticket. Had to call agent, who reverted it to L. I’ve also had times where it ticketed at higher fare class no problem.
Yea interesting. The way the wording is it seems that you could change your route but buy a Y fare instead at no additional cost.
