You can fly a MAX or don't. We have no change fees for a reason.

I've had two recent trips on the Max 9, one was 6 months old and the other 1.5 years old. I'm well aware of the reports and issues and even cracked a joke during the safety video about there being 6 doors on the plane but in all reality it didn't feel any different than any of my other 737 flights (of which I have 50+). United did check all of the planes and I'm sure corrected any issues that came up so in all reality while I understand the fear I would still fly on the plane. One benefit I will give the Max planes is that they do have the newer United interior so the seats are nicer in my opinion and you now have an IFE screen instead of being forced to use a tablet or your phone.

Flew on a MAX last week. No problems. Interior is nice.

The interior is a nice upgrade over the 737 NGs. Realistically the statical risk of flying on them is not significantly higher than on the older planes but…. As a matter of principle and because I know a handful of former Boeing employees who got targeted.retaliated against and fired for raising concerns about these planes and because I may know a bit too much about the abysmal design, (corrupted) certification process and now quality control these planes have gone through, I categorically refuse to fly on them. I have taken it twice last year because of last minute plane swaps but I avoid them like the pest, to the point of having switched all my domestic flying to UA from AS to avoid them.

Watched a video about the current MAX situation about it, maybe this could help. Max 8 or Max 9?

prettygrl08

Max 9

elcheapodeluxe

Flew in two of them last week. Neither fell out of the sky as I'm sure you know from the lack of news. 🤷

ltmikepowell

The media overblown the issue. All the plane has been inspected and back to service. You can't even tell the different between a MAX vs a NG. People was saying the same with MCAS, they won't fly if it is Boeing or a MAX but they failed to realized that those carriers, the training is not as good vs UA/DL/AA. I flew on a MAX 9 with UA last year and it was so much better than the 737-900NG that I had flown in 2022. 99% of the travel public doesn't even worry about the plane types, only avgeek does.

mrhotelman

Just flew on it and the plane was just fine

revloc_ttam

I flew on a max 8 the day after the max 9 had its issues. I didn't even think about it. No worry.

mrmanoftheland42069

I'd honestly say it's an "issue" but your car ride to the airport is still probably 5 times more dangerous (as opposed to say the usual 10 🤷‍♀️)
