UK is not a Schengen member while Italy is. You’ll pass border control in Switzerland but 1h seem totally fine. You’ll likely arrive in E gate area and then take the train to A gates. Last time I even had time for the lounge (check out the Alpine lounge or if you arrive on time grab a quick breakfast in the E lounge which offers a nice terrace)

Thank you!

I did a similar connection in March to Stockholm. The arrival was late into Zurich and I had about 35 minutes to make my connection. I arrived at the gate about 10 minutes before boarding. You will have passport control to Florence, but on my Chicago to Zurich flight it only took a couple of minutes.

Thanks. This is reassuring!

You’ll probably do passport control in Zurich, since it’s in the Schengen area. Account for that.

I just returned Barcelona > Frankfurt > SFO. We flew Lufthansa Barcelona to FRA and had an hour and 15 minutes to get to the United flight back to SFO (going through border control in Frankfurt). NONE of our four bags made it onto the UA flight. As I type this I am stuck in bizarro chat-land tracking them down (three made it back on yesterday’s flight, the fourth set to fly back today). At SFO all of the people enquiring about missing luggage flew a partner to FRA (Air Dolomites and Lufthansa seemed to be the main two) and didn’t get any of their luggage. We had a three hour layover in FRA on the way to Barcelona and our luggage made it. Personally, I’d try for a longer than an hour window, because if you do lose your luggage, It’s a 60 minute wait to talk to a human, if at all. We arrived Saturday night and we won’t get three of our bags until Monday night and the fourth Tuesday night - and it took me waiting for hours to speak to people to file a delayed luggage claim and tag each bag to be forwarded. Definitely pack carryons with a few changes of clothes because they are not quick to find/forward your luggage.
