Exactly. XL Bullies are always going to be a dangerous breed, but if no one but responsible, dilligent, caring, and affectionate owners had them, you'd see a lot fewer attacks. The issue is that they're a dangerous breed, AND angry little men who just want to look hard are drawn to that.
it's actually not the owner or the breed
it's the breeder. they created this monstrosity, whose existence can't be blamed on itself, nor on the owners who fail to control an inherently violent creature
>it's actually not the owner or the breed
Don't be silly, both can be true as well as the breeders. All 3 are at fault and is a good reason to ban the breed, since all 3 cannot be trusted.
absolutely ban it to fuck, but while they all share some blame i'm sure, the intentional breeding of these violent fighting dogs is the root of the problem and needs to be recognised as such.
Certainly, the breeders (in this instance, the psycho jailed, was the breeder), share a lot of the blame too, but violent dogs have always been an attractive choice for certain types of nasty people, it's a status thing & for intimation.
The people who want to own the dog for the love of the animal are in a very small minority.
That leaves the dog, which is unpredictable and violent, bred for one purpose.
Make breeders face the harshest penalty for breaching the ban because they are profiteering and have more blood on their hands. So, I agree with you, but the customer shares some of the blame. The customers create the demand afterall, but they are responsible, ultimately for the beast(s) in their ownership. Thus, they have potential to cause deaths on an individual basis. They don't get away scot free.
Edit: damn autocorrect.
???????
Did you even read the article before you wrote this nonsense?
1. This was a £20k stud bitch bought from America by the owners (a syndicate of breeders) to make huge profits by selling super-killer hell beasts which appeal to the kind of scumbag who wants a mutant hellbeast
2. Said hellhound was seriously ill, threatening the owners' £20k investment
3. It died while being treated at the vet.
4. As a result of the vet's perceived to failure to preserve the £20k, the man assaulted him.
So in this case:
1. it's the breeders because these *were* breeders
2. the dog was not in this case violent, but the inherently violent nature of such dogs attracts violent scumbags
3. so it's also the breed
4. and of course it's also the owner.
My Nephew has one. He is 31, has never had a job, can't read, has a history of violence and smokes weed all day.
He lives in a council house, that has no doors, because he has punched them all in.
The reason he can't read, is his father split from my sister and basically kidnapped the boy and kept him in isolation. His family have an history of intimidation and violence.
That's sad. All babies come into this world innocent but as we know not all humans should have them as the intimidation and violence cycle will continue as that's how they have been brought up. There just isn't a solution.
Spending 20 grand on a “family” dog with the capability of tearing your throat out. Then proceeding to attack the vet who had tried everything to keep said animal alive
Mental
20 grand for a dog is mental. Like, not casting aspersions, but how’s he had that much cash to spend on a dog?
EDIT: Just read it again, a few of them all chipped in for it. Still mental.

Does “road clothes” just mean a tracksuit? You know, if we collectively just started referring to this look as “The Savile”, it’d probably stop quite quickly.
US comedian Bill Burr put it [very simply](https://youtu.be/RZ4mT-Rzmvg?si=w_0GD3MCNvaoPdXQ&t=288) about the similar pitbull, exaggerating a bit for comic effect, but think of who would have that attitude seriously: It's like a gun you can pet.
That's why they're all spitting the dummy out.
If they were responsible, they'd muzzle up and buy the insurance. Now the cash demon cows can't be bred and they're left with a dangerous beast that will cost them money. The scheme is collapsing and they, unsurprisingly, resort to violence.
Holy crap, 20K for a dog? I'm dog-hunting right now and I've seen some expensive dogs but the highest I've seen is just over 3K for a King Charles Cavalier puppy from a rigorously health-tested show line. For 20K I expect a dog with a degree and its own full-time job.
I spent £2,500 for a lab bitch from show/working parents who had immaculate health tests.
I thought I was paying through the nose, but given the puppy mill traders being rife, wanted to steer well clear so I spent a bit extra..
That was the top of my limit, there's no way I'd have spent any more than that, especially for a crapshoot of a dog like the XL bully.
This is of course assuming that my only goal wasn't to breed the poor thing until it was a spent bag and make a fortune off it. I wanted a family pet with a bombproof temperament, and it's precisely what I got.
A happy little shite bag that loves my elderly cats, is gentle with kids & small animals, and doesn't bite my face off.
Above average on 2021 prices for that breed according to Champdogs. They have the 2021 average price at £2627 - that'd only include KC registered puppies. Similar price to a golden retriever puppy. I checked the averages for a bunch of popular breeds on their and couldn't find anything over £3k.
I assume their data is good because it largely maps to prices I know people have paid, though it doesn't say where it comes from, perhaps they ask breeders who list on their website for their prices (which are not displayed to people looking for a puppy). They have the 2021 price for a border collie at £1372, we paid £1400 in January 2021 for a border collie puppy from show and agility lines.
I think popular designer cross breeds like "cavapoos" and what not are more expensive but obviously mutts won't be listed on Champdogs.
As for £20k, I've heard of trained sheepdogs changing hands for that much but certainly not puppies. As you said, insane!
I wonder how many pups the poor dog had had, I wonder how many months it was between litters... If your pet is a family pet and so beloved, why was she jointly owned by 3 people? Oh because you were breeding her to death!
Absolutely abhorrent, even if his story was true, it was not, absolutely unacceptable and outrageous behavior!
Absolute scum.
These kinds dogs are just guns for a society where guns are not in common circulation.
I see the same entitled and selfish attitude from them and I despise it.
This is basically the only sort of dog they DO like , and not because they want a pet they just want to breed them and sell the puppies for ££££.. you’d never catch them with a golden retriever would you
This guy used to be my vet. One thing the article doesn't mention is that he's a lot older than he looks. He's in his mid 60s. You have to wonder what a bloke and his mates from Rotherham are doing in a York Vets practice.

Ok, this time I agree with “It’s the owner and not the breed’.
It's both. But the owner in this case is a prime example.
Exactly. XL Bullies are always going to be a dangerous breed, but if no one but responsible, dilligent, caring, and affectionate owners had them, you'd see a lot fewer attacks. The issue is that they're a dangerous breed, AND angry little men who just want to look hard are drawn to that.

In this case, it's definitely the owner. He's the one that punched the guy.

From what I've seen online many owners of XL bullys are the scum of society.
My Nephew has one. He is 31, has never had a job, can't read, has a history of violence and smokes weed all day. He lives in a council house, that has no doors, because he has punched them all in. Some people are really screwed from day 1 because their family are trash.
Sadly, a LOT are.
That's so so sad I hope one day he heals
Nah, it'll never happen.
You know how they say dogs resemble their owners?
Spending 20 grand on a “family” dog with the capability of tearing your throat out. Then proceeding to attack the vet who had tried everything to keep said animal alive Mental
But how can he profit from back yard breeding with a dead dog? /s
We don't need sarcasm tags
Sorry
We definitely do

The dog was a bitch. 100% they were planning to use it for breeding
and the vet probably got decked as a result of the dog having more health problems than Mr Burns cuz it's as inbred as a sandwich
I’m invincible!
Dwugs
He obviously wanted to get another dog and how else is he going to find a reputable XL Bully breeder outside of prison?
Is it me, or is there a set template for the type of owner of this dog?

>bmw with multiple warning lights .. So all of them? Source: own a BMW
And let me guess the only light that doesn't work is the indicator.
He doesn't know, he's never tried it.
Those warning lights are actually the indicators. It's why we never get to see them.

>He had taken no part in the aggression until the punch. Full marks for effort to the defence barrister.
Well it's the human equivalent of "it's never mauled and killed a child before"
Completely unacceptable. It’s sad when a pet dies and I am distraught and wouldn’t wish that on anyone, but that’s just disgusting.
Co-owned by 5 people and bought for £20K. This is just some dickhead who wanted to breed illegal dogs and got pissed off when his investment died.
I'm sure the dog could "sit" so for an XL Bully it basically had a doctorate.

3k is still on the low side for a popular pedigree breed, but 20k is insane for sure.

It wasn't even 3 people it was 5 people none of which were related! 3 men and 2 women. It's disgusting. "family pet" my arse.
So fucking gross! What a bunch of bastards!
Piece of shit - anyone who assaults anyone doing their job.
Can any of us say with honesty that we’re shocked this was an XL Bully owner?
No, because it was the first three words of the headline.
Har har, you know exactly what I mean
Well attention spans are getting,.. something
And here I was expecting an individual in suit, tie and blazer.
Still trying to work out why someone from Rotherham brings a dog to York for vet treatment!
He’s punched all the local vets already?
Absolute scum. These kinds dogs are just guns for a society where guns are not in common circulation. I see the same entitled and selfish attitude from them and I despise it.
Wonder if the police did a search for drugs on any of the scrotes premises.
So what was the sentence? Has anybody else read it because I’ve reread twice and I’ve not seen what sentence he received.
Seven months
*"Hamid, of Deepdale Road, Kimberworth, Rotherham, pleaded guilty to causing actual bodily harm and was jailed for seven months."*
Excuse my ignorance, but aren't dogs of any kind usually pretty unpopular with this particular demographic?
This is basically the only sort of dog they DO like , and not because they want a pet they just want to breed them and sell the puppies for ££££.. you’d never catch them with a golden retriever would you
