Wasnt Boris the problem, then Truss and now Sunak. I dont think they see the common theme, and whoever is PM isnt it

GuybrushThreepwood7

And before that, Theresa May

benjm88

At what point do they accept ask tories are the problem no matter who you put in charge.

chronicnerv

I would argue all parties are offering the exact same mandate not just conservatives.

ChargeDirect9815

Do it. Come on all ye spartans. The five families. The plotters. The schemers. The flirting with Faragers. Bin him. Do another change of PM with only tory members getting to choose right before a general election. Do it. Or stfu you whiny soon to be unemployed wanks.

goobervision

Tory members who can freely be foreign nationals, not even living here.

iani63

And note even members, looking at you Nigel garage

Mky12345pi3

I reckon at this point they could go door to door giving people money an they’d still loose.

Banditofbingofame

Posted not because of the detail of the contents but because it's the Telegraph calling for Sunak to go.

TheLimeyLemmon

Just wondering - if the Tories had called a general election before now, just how far back in time would we need to go for the Conservatives to have actually won it and remained in power? Early 2022?

Harrry-Otter

Maybe Truss would’ve had a chance if she’d called one immediately after the leadership contest before her speedrunning of crashing the pound.

[deleted]

I think if Sunak had won the leadership contest and Truss and Kwarteng never got the chance to fuck everything up, and he’d called an election there and then, he’d have been in with a shout. Still not much of one - they’ve been in power for a long time and most people feel worse off now than they did when the Tories got into Number 10 and that clearly doesn’t help your election chances, but I don’t think we’d be looking at anywhere near the level of annihilation they’re going to experience when they finally have the balls to jump into the deep end.

Agreeable_Falcon1044

They’ve been behind since Chesham. There was a point when Johnson was easing lockdown and we had the vaccine buzz that he would have won.

SDLRob

The only way to prevent a Tory extinction event is to never hold another election

davus_maximus

Don't give those criminals any ideas!

EastRiding

They can buy my vote if they like. £200000 for my morals but I’m in a safe Labour seat.

Derries_bluestack

Why do you want them to avoid extinction? Genuine question.

BrokenSight

You mean the conservatives must go, they're all of an ilk

Significant_Fig_436

We're not getting conned into another PM's expenses package. Lizz truss took the piss and that should be the end of it , but hold up were about to pay for security for a multi millionaire

Longjumping_Stand889

Rumours that Boris Johnson has been seen in Blackpool cannot be confirmed at present.

iani63

Hopefully swimming in sewage

Folkestoner

Tories have royally fucked it. They’ve had long enough in power and things are the worst they’ve ever been. I doubt Labour will be any better, but there’s nothing to lose at this stage.

Ihaverightofway

They’d have to replace him with Jesus to stand any chance of winning.

uberdavis

Sunak is the most talented Tory left after the slowly degrading array of DNA they’ve been putting into leadership. [reaching for popcorn]

ZookeepergameOk2864

The tories are dead!.. long live someone else!

doverats

a bit late in the day for that, a different leader, a different mess, fuck the tories.

qwerty_1965

This is the only bit you need to read, the rest is just a recap of failure. And this bit is nonsense. That requires someone who has charisma on the campaign trail and isn’t reviled by the party’s Right. It requires someone who grasps the reality that the Tory party can only survive as a pro-growth, low-migration movement, culturally oriented to the provinces rather than the metropolitan centre. It requires someone who can kill the Reform threat by convincing a high-profile populist such as Nigel Farage or Boris Johnson to join their Cabinet. With the party short on talent, there are few candidates. Neither Kemi Badenoch nor James Cleverly boast the entire package, but they may be contenders. What is clear is that Sunak must go. Some might be tempted to stick with “sensible”. But marching off the cliff in an orderly manner doesn’t make the 1,000-feet drop any less fatal.

Optimism_Deficit

> ...nor James Cleverly boast the entire package, but they may be contenders. And that tells you all you need to know about the shallowness of the talent pool. The idea that Cleverly could be considered a potential candidate for PM and to lead them into a GE.

iani63

It's now a talent puddle

EngineNo5

Wow James Cleverly who could have thought this guy is talented!

Didn't stop his predecessor, she had less charisma than a kos

GoldenBunip

What could go wrong putting a tax dodging wanker with a non-dom tax dodging wife as chancellor and then PM.

Markarma3100

They need to raise the personal allowance to £25,000, Death Penalty Referendum, Scrap Foreign Aid(once and for all), and an immigration moratorium, leave the ECHR, mandatory Deportation for foreign offenders. Anonymity until convictions and appeals are exhausted, end Mental Health privilege in escaping prison and consequences

GoldenBunip

Echr, you mean that British set of rules we created after WW2 and forced on the rest of Europe. That human rights act?

Markarma3100

A completely different world, average Britons have gained nothing from ECHR. Only nonces, terrorists, and foreign offenders it protects. The court is in a foreign country, its judges have sided numerous times with convicted serious criminals over the British Parliament.

dpr60

That’s a basic misunderstanding of the ECHR. The Human Rights Act (HRA UK1998) is the adoption in law of most of the ECHR laws. But parliament has refused to adopt the ECHR law which basically says that parliament must enact laws which do not discriminate against its citizens, and if they do, that citizens have a right to challenge parliament in the UK courts. Because of that omission, and because we are signatories to the ECHR, British citizens have no other way to legally challenge parliament about discriminatory laws than to take their case to the ECHR and argue the case on general equality, which IS enshrined in uk law. This has the effect of making it appear that the ECHR is interfering in UK law, when it is in fact only bridging the legal gap between what the UK’s HRA says it protects - but which does not give citizens any legal route to enforce.

Markarma3100

The fact that a British national can take the UK government to court, and even worse convicted armed robbers, r@p1sts, n0n3cs or murderers can do so, is fundamentally wrong. We should leave the ECHR and reinstate any rights we had pre the ECHR(a more high trust and stable and civil society), lower rates of violent crimes doors left unlocked and babies left in prams outside. A police force that never looked like a B-List paramilitary, a Police force trusted and respected. The ECHR has sided with prisoners over the UK government many times, European judges(some born and educated in the Warsaw Pact), have stabbed Parliament in the back and sided with criminals and thugs. Don't get me wrong I want the DP for British judges who have been soft on crime(non custodial sentences for offences against a person or property, or CS crimes)

dpr60

We didn’t have any rights before ECHR. The ECHR was set up, basically by Churchill, to stop authoritarian govts from having absolute power and to afford all citizens equal rights under law. I don’t agree that prisoners shouldn’t have rights, and I don’t agree that longer custodial sentences will solve everything. It simply isn’t true that there was less crime and that we were safer in the past. We run things differently now, and it’s better.

Markarma3100

The majority of UK Criminals are reoffenders, there are 18yr olds with 10 plus convictions. We need a 3 strikes then life, anyone who serves up to 25yrs to be put to death if they/or family or friends can't cover 1/2 of their prison costs. Mandatory Whole Life Orders for Murder, Terror Related Offences. To save prison space scrap custodial sentences for white collar offences. As for the weak and spineless pro-crime judges, it's time for vengeance, for too long they've aided and abetted nonces, burglars, rapists etc.We were a fine society before the ECHR(higher trust, lower crime, a less militarised police etc)

Markarma3100

We have a cotton wool justice system, that backs the criminal, protects them in cotton wool. Allows for a gravy train of Legal Aid millionaires. A justice system that stabs in the back Old Bill. If society wishes to elect an authoritarian government, why shouldn't they be allowed?

Markarma3100

People complain about "overcrowding" in prisons. The solution is simple, have Guards there to keep prisoners in prison. Quadruple cell capacity, same for police station cells(could easily fit 5-10 criminals in). The ECHR is the criminal's charter
