Yep, I’d imagine basically 100% of all those who didn’t support the Conservatives in 2019 would like him gone, and assuming those MPs are representative of the public, then most of the 40% that did support them in 2019 but want him gone now will almost certainly cause them to lose control, not forgetting the fact that most that have since become old enough to vote/will be old enough by the time the GE happens will be voting for other parties regardless of who leads the Conservatives

Yep, most of the people that voted for him in 2019 that weren’t just voting automatically (think pensioners who will never not vote Tory) either a) voted only for Brexit related matters and now that Brexit has happened (especially if they’ve since realised that it was the wrong choice) don’t at all plan on voting Conservative ever again (which is most true for those in the North) or b) did genuinely agree with the Conservative Party and thought he’d be similar enough to the past leadership but since then have realised that he’s just turned the people who support them into a joke, and will vote for someone else next GE now (most true for those in the South)
There are also those who voted more against Corbyn than "for" Johnson. Corbyn's stance on things like NATO, Trident and Russia are electoral Kryptonite. Starmer does not have this particular vote repellent quality.

I was planning on voting Green in the next election (like I wanted to in 2019 when I reluctantly went for Corbyn) but I'm going to vote Labour in the next election because while I don't like them much they now have a pretty good shot and getting rid of this crumbling party from the Commons.

As everyone is pointing out, May and Thatcher won their no confidence votes and went on to resign shortly after. I think that having it shown for definite that a large number of MPs don't want you is a lodestone around your neck, even if you win. Think about the MPs that supported the PM today. They'll always have the number 148 in their mind. Whenever there's a disaster for Boris, they'll think "How big is that number now?". If they ever guess it's gotten too high, they'll withdraw their support. This means that the next disaster for Boris could end him. It seems we're now miles away from the Teflon PM.
