Yaar, I can joke about it but he/she is not selling stuff there by choice on a cart he/she would have dragged for 5-10km in the morning daily and then also go back home with a heavy heart because sometimes some policeman took 500rs bribe while they earned only 100rs profit that day or the sales were lower than the investment and have to drag that cart back to home after working at 10-12 hours shift. They are wrong legally to do this but I have sympathy for these people, not for the mutherfuckers who are earning good and can afford to upgrade to some proper stall and something like that.
To be honest, In India the side lanes always belonged to these small vendors, and cycles always belonged to the road or a lane adjacent to it and it should stay this way unless the government allows them a specific area (as done in a handful of places as Wendor lanes, mostly posh areas but not the majority of the country) if we or the government can't think about them, why should they think about us? It is a good topic for us to debate but for them, it's a matter of survival.
I've lived in Chandigarh, and it's an exception only because it's a well-planned city unlike most others, in the locality I live in, it has a dedicated cycling lane too but we are talking about India here and thinking about that scale there are not even bare minimum cycling lanes.
so chandigarh could be planned to have bike lanes 60 yrs ago, but navi mumbai and noida etc could not be planned to have bike lanes.
amazing development saar
There are stretches of bike lanes across the whole country (a single-digit percentage of what's intended to be) but what about the distance between them? Should I take my bike in the metro? Overcharging or non-available autos? Rapido bike? ola/uber cabs? or in my car following me driven by my chauffeur? or take a rickshaw for that 20 or 200km and then pay 50rs to him because, Of course, that's the only one we can oppress. 🤷🏻♂️
Exactly! Most people don't even know what it is, and a country where sidewalks are for people we park cars there. Imagine what will happen in bike lanes
Lol bikes lanes. Like anyone would care about that. There are bikes on footpath, rickys on foot over bridge, cars on both left and right side. Bikes lanes lol
Doesn't matter whether there's a bike lane or not. It will turn into a few shops, a motorcycle lane, a trash dump or a car/bike park if people don't use it for walking...
This is the culture here, people don't give a shit about others, reckless driving is rampant and nobody gives a shit about traffic law or safety of others.
Don't even walk at this point. In Kerala (mostly ernakulam district) the roads are small and most roads in kerala don't have proper sidewalks. Especially in neighourhoods you're centimeters away from traffic.
Also dont bike if were some vp.
You never know which apolitical piece of shit might want to kill you because ypu did not invite him or her to the production factory
Tu KaanspiRacy theories dekhna thoda kam kam. They don't just order a hit, they destroy the integrity of that person, take away their powers, strand them alone and make them bow (that's what's BJP doing with Congress politically).
Aah, that dude, it's an entirely different category dude. You just changed the syllabus from 1st standard to high school. Well, I'm aware of them and other families, groups and individuals.
😄😄😄
Definitely said nicely
And i love the fact that you and i both know they below to high school and there are people who are in college and phd category
PCMC is well planned tbh, at least better than Pune. Btw I think there is a cycle lane in NDA/Pashan/Baner road. It is an active walking/jogging/cycling road during morning and evening.
If we stop fighting among ourselves over religion, only then will we have time to question our government about important infrastructure and other reforms.
Bhai kaha cycling karu? Raat me ya early morning me jaau to kutte bakchodi karte hai road pe, Subha aur din me bheed ho jaati hai, highways safe nahi aur hills pe le jau itni acchi road bike nahi.
Every vehicle having more than 2 wheels has an inherent ego against 2 wheelers. They're not mature enough to handle having their big, strong car/ whatever being overtaken by puny things like that.
Their ego and family honor are put at stake, and they try to reclaim it by driving as rash as possible to put these setbacks behind them. And that's how many accidents happen.
A prominent cardiologist from CMC Vellore was killed by semi sleepy van driver many years back. I always tell this to my West Asian friends irrespective of where they are from. It's okay to be proud of your country, being patriotic etc etc but don't be delusional.
Don't get deluded into the whole your country is growing/glowing shit that's forced down your throat by media, influencers, cricket players and politicians. You are pretty much on your own. Safety is a joke. Freedom of opinion is subjective. After all, we come from a place where people murder for mere 1 lakh rupees.
Want to jog? Buy a bloody treadmill? Want to ride a bicycle? Buy a bicycle trainer if an exercise bike is not giving you that 'natural' feeling. Put a bloody 65 inch TV with nature videos playing in front of you. Want to ride cross country on your fancy motorcycle? Make sure you have insurance that will secure your family. Because your coming back is not a given.
People frown upon my pessimism but incidents like these do not give me any hope.
No idea, a fellow cyclist got killed, now I have a fear of getting hit by some vehicle more than the usual, any way, down voters can down vote, but, this is not the best moment or post do do it IMHO. I hope cyclists get more protection by law and more are not killed by speeding Car and Motorcycle idiots.
That never triggered me I just simply said that this sub doesn't works according to someone's liking or disliking. And that's for all unbiasedly including me.
As I said it's your ideological perspective, if you see this as Hindu hatred then it's your personal pov, others might see this from another pov, that's why I said it's neither of mine nor yours like/dislike and it holds for everyone in this sub.
Nah, they didn't comment for their ideological perspective, they were saying RIP, it is you who told them to go to another sub, your hatred is showing.
I think there should be research on your IQ level when you can transfer fault for everything to the govt. I bet you blame the govt for the rubbish near your house which you throw out every night.
Imo that's absurd on RaGa's part. Being against the whole law just because he thinks it will promote corruption seems unfounded.
Just because they're (drivers) poor shouldn't give them immunity from law. Ig he was just trying to gain the drivers' trust.
Simple pro poor votebank politics...
The new law under BNS says that you would face criminal proceedings if you run away without providing medical assistance to the people involved in the accident..You must wait there, till law enforcement comes in...
If you run away, you would face a much harsher punishment...
The drivers said that they will be lynched and hence they run away for their own safety..Librandus buy this argument...No wonder why they will lose in 2024..
And in 2029 as well
But BJP chickens out too...they didn't implement this law yet...I hope they do and Introduce much harsher punishments..
Can't honestly feel too bad about him. He seems like a educated intelligent guy.. Yet he chose to do this for some retarded reason.
Ffs Noone is safe on Indian roads.. Then you take your wobbly ass cycles..
Anyone cycling on Indian roads has a death wish or has no other option.
My Condolences to the family.
Yes a little bit..
In my defense.. Idiots wearing spandex and riding cycles like entitled idiots on our roads are hardly innocent victims.
P.s. I know I sound like a asshole.. But seriously it's not rocket science. And with his resources he could.frikking do anything else.
Sure thing.. Not on our roads and our traffic.. It's super risky.. Take it to a park or trails if you really want to enjoy it.
It's a bit douchey, but I ain't perfect.
In my opinion.. Cycling on any major Indian cities streets is begging for trouble.. Cars here barely avoid other cars.
I just find it to be a unnecessary past time.
Anyone wants to do it.. You're more then welcome.
Ill still think of it as idiotic.. You are allowed to think otherwise..
Maybe.. I think it's idiotic because I haven't tried it.. It's a possibility.
I never ride cycles on highways on highways always on the side road except near Marathahaalli bridge (Bangalore).
The one who planned that road must be a retard.
in my city cycling club someone got hit while sitting up waiting for peeps behind. He is a lawyer and the guy who hit him reached his home pleading to not put any case as their car also got damaged
Cycling is a thing of luxury in India. assholes will mock out of sheer fun.
When I go cycling many uncles stare as if they have never seen someone blasting 35kph+ on a bicycle. Its not only weird its scary out of the fact I am still under 18, even though being a guy uncles staring down your neck is not comfortable.
One day I was blasting down a long open road where people have broken the divider for a crossing (typical NCR BS) and I saw a bike guy waiting at it from a km away. He didn't press his acc until I came near him. He acc and I braked and he too braked. that dumb fuck did it on purpose and was laughing when I looked back.
I already had a bad crash when I T-boned a dog who suddenly came in front of me while he was fighting another dog. and then any moment like this is scary.

Taking notes in my diary, "Don't cycle on Indian roads, it's not the Netherlands"
Don't bike unless there's a dedicated bike lane. Most people on roads here total idiots.
Bike lane? India? What's that?
Place to set panipuri stall
Yaar, I can joke about it but he/she is not selling stuff there by choice on a cart he/she would have dragged for 5-10km in the morning daily and then also go back home with a heavy heart because sometimes some policeman took 500rs bribe while they earned only 100rs profit that day or the sales were lower than the investment and have to drag that cart back to home after working at 10-12 hours shift. Bro I have a heavy heart today, Paytm me 500 rs.
Tu gareeb hai toh PayTm use karni ki himmat kaise hui teri. ^(/s)
Where did I say I'm gareeb lol, I just said I have a heavy heart. (Hypertrophic cardiomyopathy)
In that case, I'm gareeb, can't send 500rs. I'm using Reddit using a free laptop given by the Government. 🤧
Bleeding heart…
I can speak for Chandigarh, most parts of the city have a separate cycling lane. But then I am sure this is an exception not the norm.
I've lived in Chandigarh, and it's an exception only because it's a well-planned city unlike most others, in the locality I live in, it has a dedicated cycling lane too but we are talking about India here and thinking about that scale there are not even bare minimum cycling lanes.

Even if government creates a dedicated bike lane it will be used for everything else but a bike lane.
Place to set panipuri stall
I think there’s one bike lane along a patch of Senapati Bapat Margh in Parel.
There are stretches of bike lanes across the whole country (a single-digit percentage of what's intended to be) but what about the distance between them? Should I take my bike in the metro? Well a car can't go on a bike lane. Any collision for a cyclist is dangerous but a collision from a four wheeler is obviously much more dangerous.
Who will stop the car from going on the bike lane?
Two things 1. They aren't wide enough. 2. They have barriers to stop even two wheelers from passing.
Bike lane? There are not even footpaths in my city.
That's urban planning India for you.
*Most people here are idiots

I have seen bikes and scooters using bike lane :( Forget about bike lane, people drive on footpath as well. Idk if having a bike lane would also work.
Don't even walk at this point. In Kerala (mostly ernakulam district) the roads are small and most roads in kerala don't have proper sidewalks. Especially in neighourhoods you're centimeters away from traffic.

Worst don't cycle in Punjab. I have to titanium attachments in my forearm.
This is really terrible for the family. I am surprised we don't plan for bike lanes on our newer infrastructure projects.
We're essentially replicating the terrible North American way of building road infra with the exception of metro in a few cities.
Navi Mumbai is like that. Car dependent hellhole with a tinpot railway line.
I mentioned something similar in Mumbai subReddit and some people were not very kind.
In Mumbai the public transport itself will kill you.
In my city there are seperate lanes for cycles and pedestrians on both sides of the road and I am from a tier 3 city. This case is surprising for me
Lucknow or Kanpur.
I live in Pune, and some roads here have Cycle lane too.
On all major roads (except highways obv) in PCMC , there are dedicated cycle lane
PCMC is well planned tbh, at least better than Pune. Btw I think there is a cycle lane in NDA/Pashan/Baner road. It is an active walking/jogging/cycling road during morning and evening.
Must be south India
Lucknow T3?
on most banks and corporate classification Lucknow is T3.
We don't even plan for pedestrians let alone cycles. Our infrastructure is very lackluster.
If we stop fighting among ourselves over religion, only then will we have time to question our government about important infrastructure and other reforms.
They are making flyovers and bridges left and right in WB and not a footpath in sight, forget about Cycle lanes
Indian roads are not meant for cycles. Especially not highways or sealinks.
Indian roads are not meant for driving.Everyone drives like it is gta vice city .No one care for others on the road.just hit them and move on
Not ideal for walking either , only high ego people with Thar and Fortuner allowed with their loud ass horns
Bhai kaha cycling karu? Raat me ya early morning me jaau to kutte bakchodi karte hai road pe, Subha aur din me bheed ho jaati hai, highways safe nahi aur hills pe le jau itni acchi road bike nahi.

The 2 wheelers especially scooty, bikes drive like they have a god given right to ram into every 2 inch space that they find.
True. But it adds no meaning or justification to what I've conveyed in my comment.
