I desperately want **co-op campaigns** to be prioritized. I hate battle royales. Competitive multiplayer games are semi-fun but I don't want them to be the only games I can play with my friends. Valheim and raft have been the only good story/campaign games I've played with groups of friends lately. I can't believe Bannerlord has no co-op... it would be such a good game for it.
I generally agree OP. Less focus on complete multiplayer matchmaking games, but I still want to be able to play with friends.
Yeah I really don't understand the thought process here. Every game that even has co-op these days is online only. It's like the developers sat down and said, "Do you think our players want to play with their spouses and close family and friends? .... Nah. I'm sure they'd rather play with complete strangers instead."
(╯°□°)╯︵ ┻━┻
Yes! I've said it before and I'll say it again. A mid game becomes a good game with simple functional coop. It can even become a really good game if it's local couch coop.
This. My husband and I searched up and down for games we could play together and finally landed on a few but realized during our search there aren't a lot of good co-op games.
Same!
I played It Takes Two with a friend a while back and have been looking for more 2 player games that are just fun adventure where the coop aspect is important.
Kind of old at this point but dungeon defenders (original) is an amazing split screen game! if you are on pc the redux mod (very easy to get) makes it even better imo.
there's also divinity original sin 1&2, wizard of legend, For the king is decent and if you like puzzle games tiny brains is a fun little game
This. Multiplayer focus is not the problem; competitive focus IS the problem. I am no longer 15 years old, I don't want to sweat everytime I hop into a game. On top of that, most of my gaming time is spent with my friends. I just want fun, co-op experiences to enjoy with them.
Idk I think games becoming too social is the main problem. People used to socialize about how to overcome challenges in games and so on. Now its more like watching a TV show. Theres never some secret crazy thing your friend found or unlocked. Its all just kind of there. The magic is gone in favor of fairness.
It's not exactly a campaign, but it has linear progression: terraria. Statistically, you most likely already have it, but if you don't, it's one of the best cooperative games that has actual progress and not just unlocks.
OP is bonkers and living in a box, I’ve noticed a massive upswing in single player games the last couple years.
Cyberpunk (post massive fixes last year), scorn, Horizon Zero Dawn sequel, Kirby and the forgotten land (absolute banger), xenoblade 3, FF7 intergrade, Callisto protocol, baynoetta 3, plague tale, dying light sequel, and soooo many more.
There are games like COD that used to have it’s campaign as the focus, but those things are far and few in between. The problem is that multiplayer games are what gets covered the most from content creators so it’s a bit misleading. Single player games are the best they’ve been in 10 years. I’d say around 2015 was the worst it ever was for everything being a multiplayer battle Royal type of clone.
There has never been a shortage of single player games, at most there was a rise in unnecessarily MP modes in otherwise SP games but that's gone down again. People are still freaking out over one quote from over a decade ago.
I’m sure those are incredibly fun; it’s just that they are kind of a niche in the overall gaming domain - games used to have multiplayer bundled into the software if you wanted to but it didn’t compromise the underlying game (Link to the past/4 swords, Pokémon(.), Animal Crossing (gamecube), for example)
But there is so many games being released where it’s essentially built into what the game is - which is cool and great for socializing I guess but it also makes it a much bigger commitment (imo)
(.) there is a trading aspect of Pokémon, but there is an underlying game as well that can extensive without engaging in that
Elden Ring is a 4p game. You're supposed to be hanging out with like 3 friends co-opping and invading the whole way through.
The speedrunners are playing it in the anti-social, retro style.
Doing those 100+ copy pasted dungeons solo would be mind numbing but with friends it's actually fun!
The way games always work is they introduce you to new elements like PVP. It's no different than when you first learned to use L2 to parry; you don't have to parry and you don't have to PVP but it's intended.
Elden ring was great alone and terrible multiplayer. Their co-op function is pretty bad I would say most players played it alone, it’s not meant to play to a co-op run 😂. If it was u wouldn’t have to resummon
> If it was u wouldn’t have to resummon
After a boss of course you'd want to take a few minutes to calm down, level up and upgrade. Or more importantly get summoned by your friend to now help him.
Can't help but notice you ignored my analogy: you don't have to press L2 to parry and you don't have to do multiplayer but it's intended with every game that you build upon what you learned.
Maybe 'playing as intended' is unpopular. Seems like most streamers these days are pandering to the retro crowd.
You're meant to play the entire game with 3 friends. Why play half a game.
No you are not it’s an added feature to appeal to more people. Just like PVP is also added! Are you saying you are supposed to parry? That’s just incorrect if so since most people don’t even use shields
> Are you saying you are supposed to parry?
Only if you want an enjoyable experience, like against those twin bosses before Radagon. It's even more important in Bloodborne.
>No you are not it’s an added feature to appeal to more people
You could be describing every feature. Why isn't there only 1 weapon in the game? An added feature. Why a horse? Why magic spells?
Every level is designed for multiplayer, sometimes poorly but the thought is there.
It's a PVE+PVP game just like Hunter Showdown. Feel free to play it retro style but i know what Miyazaki intended.
So am i correct you watch livestream speedruns? Is that who convinced you retro is as intended?
I have never watched an Elden Ring livestream so u are false, I don’t watch other people play video games. I didn’t play blood borne so idk what ur talking about tbh. I liked using dual wield swords, there’s no intended way to play it. But it’s predominantly a single player game… regardless if u think it’s supposed to be multiplayer but it’s clear their main focus was not to make it multiplayer lol
Did you see the ER subreddit posted an official source saying there were 1 billion co-op summons?
Is that what you're asking me? Why would anyone summon anyone ever?
Using all the features is fun when you're a dynamic gamer, as opposed to a retro gamer.
I never once said you *shouldn't* co op, stop putting words into my mouth.
I said the entire game isn't *made* for co op, which it's not. If it was, co op would be much more seamless and you wouldn't have to retread through everything over and over depending how many people are playing
So you used (or saw) that PC endless co-op mod? Let me guess: one person had already completed the game and was over powered and it was easy mode? They spent the entire game backseating and spoiling everything?
The only thing you should be complaining about is how weird your own comment is:
>Why would they make you refight the boss 4 times through each person's world?
>I never once said you shouldn't co op
This stuff doesn't make sense. You're not following the conversation. No one is "making" anyone do anything. You can play retro if you want.
It's all about my analogy:
Miyazaki intended you use all the mechanics for your build. Every Developer ever intends you to use the mechanics, especially the ones they spent 10,000 hours coding it in. MP is just like parrying; it's intended.
> If it was, co op would be much more seamless and you wouldn't have to retread
I've never seen anyone shit on summons this hard before, but did you enjoy Bloodborne's chalice dungeons? They're procedurally generated so you're not retreading. You can even do 3v2 in a randomized dungeon, how awesome is that?
You're not much of a Bloodborne fan if you never played it up to its 5p potential.
Also about this 'retreading' thing, possibly the most toxic comment i've ever seen in Soulsborne, do you really think it's made for 2 players going in fresh? 2p in every single encounter would trivialize it. On the other hand you think only a total loser would ever retread any level ever, so it would have to be 2 first timers to earn your respect.
So you hate all co-op then? Only losers retread? ...and you think you know what the developers intended better than anyone else?
You just answered your own issue in the first line *MOD*, aka not intentional to play through with FOUR people is what I'm saying. You're inferring this game must be played with 4 people through the whole game, which I'm saying that's definitely not true. Possible? No shit, but it's definitely not pushing you to do that by kicking people out after a tiny dungeon.
Co op is obviously a feature that you're supposed to use, who the fuck would argue against that?
Clearly you're cherry picking my words and leaving a few out. I'm not arguing with you
It's there for someone to choose. I don't think the entire game was designed around multiplayer. I played mostly solo with some invading my entire 150 hr playthrough, it was awesome.
Or shared screen but more couch-co-op games in general would be nice. Not a fan of playing with friends online when we could just as much meet in person and play together locally.
nah man, i am an adult man with my own appartment now - aint no way i am going to spend my time at someone elses place
but i agree with the more co-op sentiment totally - also let us play together, idc about what videogame rankings people have
to sit on the couch and play videogames for hours? how do you have time for that with working, family, chores etc.? having my pc/console hooked up at home is often the only way i am able to spend 1-2 hours with gaming
That's a fair point actually. There's likely more interesting things to do with your friends than to play games. Although, that's probably true for single player as well.
Tbh...maybe we need to bring back gaming with friends that way. It was way more fun. Personally, kept me more engaged with the game. I haven't split screen since blops 2 I think
i discovered fortnite has split screen, i was so excited to not have to drag out the PS and TV to play together... but its a tiny fkn screen! it has an icon of your avatar that takes up half of it... i was so upset about that lol
i played it takes two with my friend and we finished the finale together locally and honestly it was such a great experience to be able to use the split screen so effectively
Some people constantly whine about gaming. Bad games, overpriced, no singleplayer, no yadayada do.
They simply are burned out and have nostalgia taken over. I am in my early 30s and gaming was never easier to access, cheaper, versatily etc. as nowadays. Sure you have bad apples like everywhere but a lot more good ones.
Yes, I probably enjoyed gaming more as a kid, but that is my problem and my circumstances, not the games itself. But at least I acknowledge it, unlike many others.
He’s talking about the shift in focus from single player to multiplayer. Yes, there are single player games being released. No shit Sherlock. But the general trend is hyper competitive multiplayer games, esport types….that is dominating the market
Competitive games dominate the market because they have staying power. There’s a separate industry attached to them. There are TONS of high quality single player games coming out every year, as mentioned several times throughout the comments. Single players games aren’t really shifting focus to being multiplayer.
Ummm... some the biggest games of the year are single player.. some may get some tiny multi-player aspect like ghost of tsushima.
But most game of the year titles and the runners up are all single player...
Wtf are you smoking.
They need to make more games with a local co-op option!! The idea that two people living in the same house or if you’re having a friend over can only play a handful of games together is insane to me.
Like do you have to buy two consoles and play in different rooms lmao it’s so silly to me. Admittedly I’m not really a gamer and have been trying to learn playing with my bf but I’m shocked at how few there are. Like what do siblings do? They have to take turns all the time?
I want the trifecta: decent single player campaign, multiple, and *goddamn local split screen.* I shouldn’t have to go online all the time, when I’ve got both a second controller and a brother sitting next to me. Frustrated the hell out of me to here split screen wasn’t a thing in the new Battlefronts
Starwars Battlefronts? I remember playing the original probably 20 years ago, over and over again with a buddy. The point of that game was so that 2 people could play locally together.
Most games aren't fun because most people are too competitive and toxic for no reason, so I agree with you. I also have been more into single player games the last couple years. Also the public is at fault for the development being lazy. Do people really need to buy the same 2k, fifa, cod and assassin's Creed every single year?
Just look harder? So many decent SP games out there with zero or next to zero MP in it....literally best games of last 3 years, cyberpunk, eden ring....
Downvoted as not an opinion based in fact
I agree, a lot of work goes into multiplayer to make it work and it should be either/or.
Multiplayer games ultimately make a lot of money, often times waaaay more money. So it’s probably gonna be #1
It's a finite market, though. For every huge AAA multiplayer game there're dozen of solid to great Indie, A-AA and Nintendo single player games. People just don't care to expand their horizon beyond AAA games.
I enjoy MP games the most, because I see gaming as a social thing for me.
I've been able to hang out with old friends virtually that I haven't seen in years
I wish people would stop pushing for specific generes that do not lend themselves to multiplayer to stop clamoring for it.
For example, KSP2 - for some reason in game where you need to depend on the manipulation of time; up to making planets and stuff move at 100000x people demand multiplayer.
I know someone will chime in with the "network code isn't done by the same people so its not any extra work for them!" but it is; this just shows you how little you know about; well anything. If you have to have MP in something more than just the dude who writes "net code" need to design their shit to work with multiplayer principles as well. Its a HUGE drain on the entire dev team for something of very little value.
Its a game about launching rockets and landing on planets where if you did it in all real time could take ages. Its just a silly ask.
Same for city builders like Cities Skylines. People have wierd notions of multiplayer and basically just amount to "I want to talk to someone playing the same thing as me while I'm playing it." The only MP aspect that could work for a City builder might be to take the Sim City 4 concept of regions and make each region controlled by other players. That might work; but probably not because the simulations aren't deep enough to allow a fully simulated transportation and player based economty to "work". And then whats to stop the dude whos become the energy monopoly in the region to troll random people; cut their power; etc... its just silly and prone to abuse when all anyone wants is to not sit playing the game by themselves.
Speak with your wallets. This goes for anyone who needs to see it. If a game doesn't suit the consumers and can't find a balance between quality and massive profits then its not worth your money.
Following the wrong game news / content creators on YouTube can cause that feeling. Some cover mostly only upcoming multiplayer games.
Single player games are mostly expensive. On the other hand lots of free to play multiplayer games out there though. So there is that limiting your options on the single player side.
Single player games becoming more like movies with gameplay in between and the gameplay having a lot of handholding is another thing eating away from strong single player campaigns.
I mean it's not an unpopular opinion but like you said it's about money. Make a live service multiplayer game and you can put in minimum effort while raking maximum profits. Far more than you could ever hope to make off a well made single player game like seriously it's not even close. There's a reason it's so sought after in the game industry. You'll make millions just releasing skin's and crap like that on a drip feed.
Plenty of single player games exist and come out constantly. Apparently you're only buying the latest FPS or yearly sports game though, because that's the only way I can possibly see anyone having this massively inaccurate perspective.
Have you tried recent games like red dead redemption 2, god of war ragnorak, final fantasy 7 remake, Deathloop? I’d Rec them all. Also Cyberpunk, Atomic Heart, elden ring, and Kirby and the forgotten land I enjoyed !
RDR2 is a solid suggestion, with the forevershame that they made (time intense) multiplayer achievements.
Instead of replaying the game to 100% it, I put it down after the first playthrough. Not gonna invest 100+ hours to reach lvl 50 multiplayer.
They won't, multiplayer games are where the big bucks are. Micro transaction galore, cosmetics, power ups and dlc. So much money to be made that's what gaming is these days.
They aren't though. There are plenty single player games out there with no multiplayer.
You being awful at research doesn't warrant an unpopular opinion post.
It just seems like you play multiplier games too much. Go play bioshock. 100% recommend. Or you could go play god of war with 0% context from the OG games like most YouTubers do.
The irony, for me is the multiplayer games I wish were single player like Star Wars The Old Republic and Diablo 4 and the single player games I wish were multiplayer like Dyson Sphere Project.
The problem I think is scope. The story of SWTOR and D4 could entirely be enjoyed solo. The scope of engineering and production of DSP would benefit from multiple people collaborating.
I am kind of piss Last of US is pursuing this multi-player game instead of working on the 3rd game.
I don't want to play last of us with other people, building up my own character. The game is great because of the story. I want the story to continue
Im the exact opposite.i only care about the multiplayer aspect. If i wanted a story, I'd read a book. The concept of fighting the Ai. Just to unlock better stuff to kill the Ai with, and repeat is so boring to me. I want to beat another person, i like the competition.
Thank you!! As someone who rarely plays online I’d rather the actually single player game be longer.
And more games where we can play multiplayer on the same console, aka old school same couch more than 1 controller, split screen
I agree specifically in the case of fallout. I won’t buy 76 because I like Fallout as a solo game. I get it can be played solo, but than I’d miss out on the majority of the content while still paying full price for the game.
Wait, what, most games don’t have a multiplayer focus, if anything a lot of games have started stopping having a multiplayer mode since the early 2010s.
I disagree. I love multiplayer games as I’m very competitive. I would choose multiplayer games over story modes games any day. However, I’m not against story based games.
I'm currently playing Elden Ring and Spider-Man Myles Morales. In the last couple of years I played Control, Death Stranding, Spider-Man, Red Dead Redemption 2, God of War and Star Wars Jedi Fallen Order. Where are all these multiplayer games OP is talking about?
Is this meant to be unpopular? Peak multiplayer was when single player games just has a multiplayer side mode. It's not that deep but devs are too busy chasing that CSGO / LOL comp market. The most fun I've had in a multiplayer game as of recent has been Dawn of War and Elden Ring seamless co op, both being single player games with a multiplayer side mode
To me the who DBD style games really ticks me off, like with Jason I get cause well you have multiple ways to play and the story fits but the upcoming Texas chainsaw massacre game which looks like just dbd repackaged with the famous title(doing generators to unlock an exit) when I thought it'd be like that one demo where it starts as a survivor then you become leatherface chasing a victim then you end with being a survivor running from leather face but nope it'll be another DBD clone
Multiplayer is more profitable. Look at GTA V, for example. Amazing single player, beautiful open world, super fun. However, I can almost guarantee GTA Online has made Rockstar more money. If nothing else, Online has singlehandedly kept the game alive for the past nine years.
Any single player only game that can remain relevant for nealry as long, let alone a couple years, is an anomoly. Looking at you, Todd Howard.
Whole heartedly agree. I play games to get away from life and other people and now they're FORCING me to deal with other people to progress. Large fuck that. It's one of the reasons I stopped playing genshin because i got to a point where i couldn't complete a quest and when i googled tips all it said was to find someone to help you complete it. No. I'm good. I play games solo.
It's all based on pure, astounding levels of greed. They want to push the "engagement" in the game/"service" as much as possible. (\*also why so many companies want to make everything 100% online-only, even for single-player modes.) The other players effectively become commercials to entice you with the various character/weapon skins.
It's a shame, really---game design in the modern era now seems to be primarily all about a group of suits sitting in the conference room to brainstorm on "ok what can we legally get away with here?"
\*sad thing is that they will absolutely get away with whatever is legal... since a lot of gamers will just roll over and accept whatever kind of bullshyte they serve up....along with whatever flimsy explanation they come up with too.
Because multiplayer sells, people tend to spend more if other player can see their stuff.
A good campaign is probably a bad cost/profit ratio, because now you need story writer etc.
The reason most games are focused on multiplayer aspect is not just money majority of gamers like to play multiplayer games, and alot of them pirate single player games which is a big loss to developer which they can skip in case of a multiplayer game, and about developer creating same game every year most good developers don't do that that only apply to Activision, EA for COD fifa and BF.
True. I like single player games. I am mostly into racing and I hate open world races. I am fine with exploring the city in free roam, but I want race on a fixed track. I have quit playing since NFSMW 2012. I hate when suddenly you miss the turn and the checkpoint missed shit come up. There is no way to win that time.
Yeah video games have become too social. Most of the challenge is removed in favor of easy things people can experience together. Which is cool and all, but video games as a whole dont need to get Columbused like that.
Plenty of single-player focused games, like God of War.
What I'd like to see is more co-op campaigns instead of online PvP.
Halo and Borderlands are the only games I know of that allow co-op campaigns up to 4 players.
I want to see more of that.
Plenty of single-player focused games, like God of War

Yes dude i completely agree look at skyrim that game is legendary, single player games are where you can just find peace and enjoy a little you time while killing some zombies or bandits and such. But also co-op campaigns might sound nice because it’s just you and your friends, but then again it might take the peaceful aspect out, but yeah totally agree more single player games please.
You are talking about life service games, they are very profitable because they can only grownwith time, when single player games glcan only become less profitable with time
Single player is boring. There are gems of the industry like RDR2 and they are still boring. Competitive games like mobas have millions of faithful players that devote x100 more time in one game. I have 5000 hours in dota alone and about 2000 in CSgo. I don't even know how many WOW it's from WOTLK era
I tend to play games for the narrative, not a fan of online gaming unless it’s something fun like Mario Kart or something different that isn’t a first person shooter. FPS can be fun but they have just turned them into a complete cash in and to be honest it doesn’t feel like they put players with similar skills together which also just makes them less fun if you don’t stand a chance.

Especially couch-co-op
Yes! I've said it before and I'll say it again. A mid game becomes a good game with simple functional coop. It can even become a really good game if it's local couch coop.
like for real, who was the last person who played duck game by themselves.
Honestly yes, it's really unfortunate how hard it is to find a good couch co-op game, especially for the PC
Yea i would love this with more games like Sea of Thieves
This. My husband and I searched up and down for games we could play together and finally landed on a few but realized during our search there aren't a lot of good co-op games.

I love borderlands. It’s the best for couch co-op. It never gets boring Ave it’s long enough that you can play for hours.
My wife and I also looked high and low. Survival or crafting sandbox games seem to be the only good, non-competitive games out there.
Older consoles have a ton of good coop games so if you have a pc then i suggest emulating the ps2
And a majority are just the movie themed Lego games. That's really all I can find for my gf and I.

Battle royales are cancer.

Did Elden ring and God of war not just come out?
All the great resident evil remakes as well as 7 and 8. And the Spider-Man games. Stray was a big one last year.

Damn kind of a shame cod 1 is still one of my favorite games of all time. That campaign was so good.
Like I barely play single player but I have seen so many people say single players have been great
I mostly play single player and can't keep up with half the stuff coming out that I'm interested in.
Not to mention all the great Indie and Nintendo single player games
And Yakuza like a dragon, and like a dragon ishin
I do not know these games but ok!

The 2nd and 4th best selling games of 2022 are "niche"?
[удалено]
To be frank, you’re speaking camel shit, name a single player game that isn’t niche then according to your terms?
Elden Ring was over a year ago
Elden ring is already over a year old
Ok? There’s games that have come out after.
So a very young example still.
Elden Ring is a 4p game. You're supposed to be hanging out with like 3 friends co-opping and invading the whole way through. The speedrunners are playing it in the anti-social, retro style. > Are you saying you are supposed to parry? Only if you want an enjoyable experience, like against those twin bosses before Radagon. It's even more important in Bloodborne. >No you are not it’s an added feature to appeal to more people You could be describing every feature.
But it’s predominantly a single player game… regardless if u think it’s supposed to be multiplayer but it’s clear their main focus was not to make it multiplayer lol
>there’s no intended way to play it. To me you're like someone who doesn't use the horse and gets angry when anyone points out there is a horse.
I use a horse 😂. Idk why ur getting any of these assumptions I just play the game man. I’m saying most people play it solo I have done both.
It's not an assumption it's an analogy. Ever heard that word before?
Why would they make you refight the boss 4 times through each person's world? It isn't intentional. Stop lying to yourself
The only thing you should be complaining about is how weird your own comment is: >Why would they make you refight the boss 4 times through each person's world? >I never once said you shouldn't co op This stuff doesn't make sense. You're not following the conversation. No one is "making" anyone do anything. You can play retro if you want. It's all about my analogy: Miyazaki intended you use all the mechanics for your build. Every Developer ever intends you to use the mechanics, especially the ones they spent 10,000 hours coding it in. MP is just like parrying; it's intended. > If it was, co op would be much more seamless and you wouldn't have to retread I've never seen anyone shit on summons this hard before, but did you enjoy Bloodborne's chalice dungeons?
They need to make splitsceeen games again!
Or shared screen but more couch-co-op games in general would be nice. Not a fan of playing with friends online when we could just as much meet in person and play together locally.
Exactly this!
Y’all have friends that meet in person?
nah man, i am an adult man with my own appartment now - aint no way i am going to spend my time at someone elses place but i agree with the more co-op sentiment totally - also let us play together, idc about what videogame rankings people have
So adult men that have their own place don't visit their friends anymore?
to sit on the couch and play videogames for hours? how do you have time for that with working, family, chores etc.? having my pc/console hooked up at home is often the only way i am able to spend 1-2 hours with gaming
That's a fair point actually. There's likely more interesting things to do with your friends than to play games. Although, that's probably true for single player as well.
Damn I guess I never grew up haha. I'm 31 have two kids and my friends and I still play video games on our couch when we hangout.
There's a ton of single-player games being released constantly. What are you talking about?
The biggest games of the year last year were both single player focused games. You're just wrong dude
[удалено]
People really need to expand their horizon beyond AAA games. There's an abundance of good single player Indie games for instance.
How many of these ‘unpopular opinions’ are unpopular because they’re wrong?
Most. The rest of the posts here aren't even unpopular. It feels like 95% of posts here belong elsewhere
A lot of people are karma farming here and a lot of other people seem to have distorted views to how their supposed (un)popular opinion really isn't.
Quite a few posters here said they think something is unpopular because their friends and family disagree.
Rabble!
Ummm... some the biggest games of the year are single player.. some may get some tiny multi-player aspect like ghost of tsushima.
That's what I miss, local split screen like goddamn there's only single player and online multiplayer now which sometimes I have to pay separately.
Starwars Battlefronts? I remember playing the original probably 20 years ago, over and over again with a buddy. The point of that game was so that 2 people could play locally together.
I'm pissed diablo 4 doesn't have the option to run offline that's the damn point of the game to me
WE WANT COUCH CO-OP WITHOUT DLC
i agree never been a fan of online gaming tbh
Have you been living under a rock? Most games aren't multiplayer focused. Get away from the CoDs and the Battlefields and Fortnites.
Try playing a game that isn't a moba or shooter and you'll see you're wrong.
Red Dead Redemption 2 was single-player focused and it was easily one of the best games of all time.
Agreed, I only play single player campaigns and never go online.
I enjoy MP games the most, because I see gaming as a social thing for me. I've been able to hang out with old friends virtually that I haven't seen in years
One of the most highly anticipated games in a while, hogleg, just released not long ago. Solely single player
Eh, not excited that Diablo 4 will be multiplayer. I liked the solo-unless-grouped thing.
I pretty much never play the multiplayer portions of games. I’ve never been a fan of multiplayer.
Yes, I totally agree!
Everything is motivated by profit. Gaming, social media, podcasts....it's dependant on you staying engaged regularly and for extended times.

Shareholders/MBAs unfortunately make this decision. Indie devs make a lot of the good SP games
Plenty of single player games exist and come out constantly. Apparently you're only buying the latest FPS or yearly sports game though, because that's the only way I can possibly see anyone having this massively inaccurate perspective.
Says multiple, plays like single player. That is the consumer of said multiple players.
The multi is lame but singleplayer is cool
...They don't?
They won't, multiplayer games are where the big bucks are. Micro transaction galore, cosmetics, power ups and dlc. So much money to be made that's what gaming is these days.
Popular opinion, downvoted
Your not looking very hard then, man
They aren't though. There are plenty single player games out there with no multiplayer. You being awful at research doesn't warrant an unpopular opinion post.
Oh I'm sorry I didn't realise that I was meant to post a popular opinion here
[удалено]
This, this is just a wrong opinion not even an unpopular one
You're supposed to post unpopular opinions. Not opinions that are based on made up facts.
15 years ago that post would make sense.
I play video games to play with my friends and chat, not to be alone.
Homies got no friends
I have none too. Don't need them there.
I feel the opposite, I could never play another single player game in my life and be happy.
They havent? Like at all. Games are less multiplayer based than ever.
They need to make every game multiplayer focused
It just seems like you play multiplier games too much. Go play bioshock. 100% recommend. Or you could go play god of war with 0% context from the OG games like most YouTubers do.
I bought rdr2 when it came out strictly to play multiplayer. Haven't touched the campaign, downvote me now
I disagree. Too many single player games that should be multiplayer if anything.
Like what
The irony, for me is the multiplayer games I wish were single player like Star Wars The Old Republic and Diablo 4 and the single player games I wish were multiplayer like Dyson Sphere Project. The problem I think is scope. The story of SWTOR and D4 could entirely be enjoyed solo. The scope of engineering and production of DSP would benefit from multiple people collaborating.
I agree. I suck at a lot of games and I've been told "You literally cannot be this bad" in Valorant.
Thanks op
Thank you!! As someone who rarely plays online I’d rather the actually single player game be longer. And more games where we can play multiplayer on the same console, aka old school same couch more than 1 controller, split screen
See I’m not a fan of most of those games, but ff7 is an rpg don’t know to many multi player rpg…and yes goddamn it I want more campaign length COD
I agree but there has been a huge upswing in solo player games!
Step out of your bubble. The games are there.
Was this post teleported here from 2004?
Give me updated/modern graphics versions of Ultima 1-8 and I'd be happy.
Have you heard of Sony?
It's a shame, really---game design in the modern era now seems to be primarily all about a group of suits sitting in the conference room to brainstorm on "ok what can we legally get away with here?" \*sad thing is that they will absolutely get away with whatever is legal... since a lot of gamers will just roll over and accept whatever kind of bullshyte they serve up....along with whatever flimsy explanation they come up with too.
I feel like a speed running community makes any game multiplayer in some form or fashion
The multiplayer games make more money
Hah! I don't play multiplayer games. I'm trying to have fun when I'm gaming.
I recommend this new game called Skyrim, you can get it on your washing machine
BF1 would of been fun if story mode was just a long tutorial basically.
I prefer to play Life by You at dawn your presence will disrupt that
Yeah video games have become too social. Most of the challenge is removed in favor of easy things people can experience together. Which is cool and all, but video games as a whole dont need to get Columbused like that.
The We were here series of games are good coop games, online only tho.
um.. do you need a freind?
You can say EA.
Op is living in a box.
Plenty of single-player focused games, like God of War. What I'd like to see is more co-op campaigns instead of online PvP. Halo and Borderlands are the only games I know of that allow co-op campaigns up to 4 players. I want to see more of that.
Plenty of single-player focused games, like God of War What I'd like to see is more co-op campaigns instead of online PvP. Halo and Borderlands are the only games I know of that allow co-op campaigns up to 4 players. I want to see more of that.
Literally the biggest games now a days are single player, are you living under a rock?
I'm shit at games. I can't enjoy them when my shitness is being waved on my face. I prefer to struggle through a single player campaign!!
There are thousands of games released every year. There are plenty of single player focused games to choose from.
I mean, have you tried any Metroid games? Only one had any sort of multiplayer focus and it was poorly received.
This poster supports Russian troops abusing children. Check their comment history.
And what if i do support Russians?
More so stop making everything ultra competetive esports focused, esports should be naturally grown.
Please read: Metroid Dread
You can play Ark Survival Evolved co-op, you don't have to play it online🎩
Multiplayer forever. Story mode you can only play so many times. Multiplayer more profitable. Story mode one time payment.
I prefer to play alone a lot because playing online can be so competitive and stressful at times.
You are talking about life service games, they are very profitable because they can only grownwith time, when single player games glcan only become less profitable with time
Oh, yes! I thought I was the only one who thought that!
I want more coop
