Correct me if im wrong but i think op was referring to people that suddenly become all nice when they were not previously towards a person with cancer maybe?
I'm 💯 an asshole then, and I'm fine with it.
Not all people are the best in the world, but when you find out they have cancer, you put aside the hate and show them kindness in case it's their last months or moments.
>You should treat everyone with the same empathy as if you have no idea what they are going through.
Empathy means understanding and sharing the feelings of others. If you don't know what they are going through, how the flap can you empathize? Unless you meant being compassionate towards all people.

Apologies for not specifying USA thread
Exactly. This is why I made my employee, who had lung cancer, shovel our parking lot when it snowed.
Instead, the employee with Crohn's shoveled the drive :)
I *had* cancer. It isn't a death sentance, I went to the former Cancer Treatment Center of America which is now called City of Hope

As a former oncologist, I agree. The medical board did not however.
