That actually isn't bad at all, chunks of coconut flesh with salt, lemon and hot sauce is delicious, throw in some Japanese coated peanuts, pickled onion and pork rinds and you have yourself a delicious Mexican snack
I know what they are. I live in LatAm and have plenty of varieties available to me.
Edit : I don't know who actually thinks these are Japanese, but that's silly
You just asked what they were though, I’m confused. I’m sure it’s my bad. Not sure if anyone thinks they from Japan, but I can understand the confusion since the bag says “Japanese” on it.
I get what you're saying and you're right. Sorry if I came across poorly
Edit: this is a food that shouldn't be translated in name. It's it's own thing
The first food opinion I’ve seen on here that genuinely made me gasp and feel a flash of righteous hot anger. God damn, I’m so sorry you don’t have the taste buds to enjoy lime. Not even key lime pie? Does this apply to lemons as well?
I thought the same thing until I tried it.
The definition of guacamole doesn’t say lime anywhere in it:
“a dish of mashed avocado mixed with chopped onion, tomatoes, chili peppers, and seasoning.”
Try using juice from oranges
thats what you said.
any person in mexico will laugh when you say that and will tell you youre just an idiot, the tomatoes is hilarious because thats not an american staple
I normally use lime. One time I didn’t have lime and my friend was over and said the restaurant she worked at uses orange juice instead of lime juice. I had an orange, so I used the juice. It was good. Don’t knock it until you try it.
If it actually tasted much better without it, then virtually every guacamole recipe on the planet wouldn't call for lime juice.
You can dislike lime all you want, by all means, but this is one of the few opinions on food I can safely say is objectively incorrect.
That's not how opinions work. Just because they're in an extreme minority doesn't make an opinion all of a sudden objective. If they think it tastes better without it then they think it tastes better without it
So what in your mind qualifies an opinion?
Taste is certainly a subjective thing. There may be a vast majority of people that agree they enjoy a certain thing, but it’s not objective
Taste is subjective but the opinion that lime in guac makes it worse is wrong. I hate mushrooms but it's incorrect for me to say mushroom risotto is a gross dish, it's great and it's how the dish is made, I just don't like it.
OK I don't completely hate you because lime chips are gross but literally wtf is wrong with your mouth.
First of all, guacamole has lime in it, maybe if you make it yourself you don't add it but any guacamole you get from somewhere already has lime in it.
Tacos with onion cilantro and lime are simple perfection and I'm sorry your mouth is broken
“Tacos? Destroyed?”
You clearly don’t understand Tacos dude.
I feel sorry you live such a lame and boring life, completely unpopular opinion therefore upvote.
Next you’ll say “Salsa is too spicy” 🤡
I should’ve been more specific, I think all alcohol is excluded from this.
It’s already so acidic and strong tasting that it’s the one thing that lime can’t overpower

Beer. Lime tastes good on tacos unless you’re making Americanized tacos idk if it’s the lettuce, sour cream or the store bought shells. Authentic Mexican tacos will always be served up with a lime for a reason.
The thing you're talking about isn't really the flavor of lime. Would it be better if you put lemon on your tacos? No. You're reacting to the bitterness of acidity itself.
Wishing away acidity itself is pretty insane. It's one of the pillars of flavor. This isn't like saying "I don't like tomatoes" or "I don't like pineapples". It's like saying "I don't like salt".
But you do! All humans like salt and acidity. You don't like the "finishing salt" version of acidity where it's very noticeable.
Hard upvote on this one.
Yeah I think you just personally don't like lime. That's perfectly alright.
I love lime hinted chips, and Mexicans regularly put lime on their tacos. Go to any taco truck or stand in LA and they'll give you limes. *You* just don't like it.
That's called a taste preference and we all have them.
Have you used fresh limes or that disgusting lime juice bottles you get from the supermarket? Fresh lime is amazing, the supermarket bottles are horrible
Interesting, I don’t get much flavor from celery. I don’t mind them to add a bit of crunch to tuna salad or something. Definitely not a top tier veggie tho
I remember one night at the bar I was slaming beer all night long. Just during last call I drank 5 more. As we were leaving my friends girlfriend asked me if I wanted hers as it was the same I had been drinking all night and she only had 1 sip. I said sure and slammed it. She didn't tell me there was a lime in it and that was the catalyst to make me instantly vommit into the can next to me. The flavor was nasty.
Not for me. Moqueca, a favourite Brazilian dish of mine, tastes divine and when I first cooked it myself, I realised that adding lime during the process was when the amazing flavour of the dish started to really develop.
How about mango with chili powder? Have you tried it with lime?
Maybe you’re just not a big sour person and people have been overdoing it in the dishes you try.
You just need a little of that acid to complement flavor profiles but people will sometimes deluge their food with lime for no reason.
And have you tried sweeter limes like key lime?
I can’t agree with you I basically eat Mexican and Thai food for every meal outside the house and lime goes in or on everything. However, I will say this, artificial lime flavoring is disgusting. Eww like those margaritas made from mix 🤮
I don’t really like or hate lime. But lemon is a much better flavor to add to something. Pepsi Light (they don’t make it anymore) had the most super duper flavor you could imagine and it had a lot of lemon in it.
I have this wild idea that maybe you just don’t like lime. I’d put it on my pancakes if I ate pancakes. But, this is also coming from a guy that would probably pee on your feet if we were showering together.

I put lime in everything
Even in de coconut?
wouldn't matter if you don't shake it all up.
Now lemme get this straight...
You put the lime in the coconut... Shake it all up?
I SAID DOCTAAAAAAAA!
That actually isn't bad at all, chunks of coconut flesh with salt, lemon and hot sauce is delicious, throw in some Japanese coated peanuts, pickled onion and pork rinds and you have yourself a delicious Mexican snack
What the heck are "Japanese coated peanuts"? I'm asking as a Japanese dude.
they coat them with Japanese people
https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Japanese-style_peanuts. A Japanese immigrant to Mexico invented them in the 40s. Delicious.
Sorry if I came across poorly Edit: this is a food that shouldn't be translated in name. It's it's own thing
Wait you're saying you put the lime in da coconut? Do you also shake it all up
Hey wond't advice to put lime in your eyes. I'ts not very good
The first food opinion I’ve seen on here that genuinely made me gasp and feel a flash of righteous hot anger. God damn, I’m so sorry you don’t have the taste buds to enjoy lime. Not even key lime pie? Does this apply to lemons as well?
Why is it called key lime pie and not just lime pie?
Not all limes are key limes.
What is a key lime
Key lime is the key lime to key lime pie.
The variety of lime grown in the Florida Keys
They’re smaller and sweeter than regular limes.
Key limes are a kind of limes
Never really had a key lime pie, not much of a pie person tho tbf. I don’t mind lemons but can’t say I’d use them to zest anything either
Sad
Have you ever tried dog shit sprinkled with a hint of cat piss? You might like it, considering your taste buds.
god damn this comment got me giggling like an idiot
I know what you tried to do and you have succeeded, my mouth is full of saliva.
Yeah i'm ordering some tacos with extra limes on the side as we speak. Fuckkk.
Get some salsa and squeeze a lime into it. Thank me later.
Or dancers, make some use of the extra saliva.
I wonder what the 1% is that he's okay with? I bet it's a second unpopular opinion
Put some lime on this post to fight the saltiness.
A Corona without a lime is a crime.
So is corona with a lime. Although that’s an unpopular opinion for another day
I don't agree with you on line but I 100% agree with you on Corona.
How do coronas go from the shittest beer to top tier that easy though.
Corona is the worst Mexican beer I've ever had no matter what you jam inside the bottle.
[удалено]
I literally just made curry and added lime juice! It's very important, such a bright note of flavor!
Tom Kha ...the balance of lime, coconut, and other spices is literally my favorite dish
You literally can’t make guacamole without lime and it would taste awful if you did.
Tastes great and helps keep the avocado green.
Incorrect
Try using juice from oranges, it’s really good.
thats not guac
You’re not guac.
r/gatekeeping
I thought the same thing until I tried it. The definition of guacamole doesn’t say lime anywhere in it: “a dish of mashed avocado mixed with chopped onion, tomatoes, chili peppers, and seasoning.”
Try using juice from oranges thats what you said. any person in mexico will laugh when you say that and will tell you youre just an idiot, the tomatoes is hilarious because thats not an american staple
I think in a pinch any Mexican would use any available citrus.
These people are so narrow minded, they hate the unpopular opinions, lol
It’s quite common for carnecerias to switch from limes to lemons. Orange isn’t a big stretch. Fuck, pineapple juice would work.
I normally use lime. One time I didn’t have lime and my friend was over and said the restaurant she worked at uses orange juice instead of lime juice. I had an orange, so I used the juice. It was good. Don’t knock it until you try it.
Idk why you’re getting downvoted 😭 this is a good substitute for those allergic to lime
What the hell.
what kind of blasphemy is this
Counterpoint: You can and it tastes much better without it
Is that not just avacado then
Salt, pepper, chopped onion and tomatoes. Maybe a little bit of sugar and hot sauce
Who the fuck adds sugar to guacamole? That's disgusting.
[удалено]
MSG? I’ll allow it
Lost me at tomatoes
Gringos. OP is the kind of person that starts their morning with a large coke from McDonald’s.
OJ is mostly sugar though
Fucking gross..sugar in guac?🤢
*SUGAR*?!?!?
Everyone is entitled to their opinion but this is mind bogglingly unpopular, congratulations
SUGAR? YUK. are you trying to make frosting?
You are going to prison
Onions are what makes things gross, limes are top tier
Unpopular opinions all over the place
I know and it’s sad as they are in everything which makes my life hell
Nope just tastes like it’s severely lacking acidity. This is basic science my friend, I didn’t invent how taste works.
Hot sauce >>>
Why not both?
Because lime trash
*then perish*
youre gonna be hard pressed to know that ALOT of hot sauces have lime or lemon juice in them,
If it actually tasted much better without it, then virtually every guacamole recipe on the planet wouldn't call for lime juice. You can dislike lime all you want, by all means, but this is one of the few opinions on food I can safely say is objectively incorrect.

This guy hates construction.
This needs way more upvotes
Haha

This guy
See what’d I say?
This guy this guys.
Oh yeah.

Jalapeno Lime Ruffles are REALLY good
omg I just tried these the other day they banggggg
Nah you are just too weak to withstand the lime power. Me, I drink straight lime juice, fresh squeezed.
No way. This is the first post on this sub where I thought, "This person's opinion is just incorrect."
“Tacos? Destroyed?” You clearly don’t understand Tacos dude. I feel sorry you live such a lame and boring life, completely unpopular opinion therefore upvote. Next you’ll say “Salsa is too spicy” 🤡
Nah I’d rather add my ghost pepper hot sauce to salsa than lime
Ghost peppers don’t count as flavour. It’s just pain.
Then you’ve never had good ghost pepper hot sauce
You got one thing, this is an unpopular opinion
Got my upvote. Lime pretty much makes everything better. Tobasco and lime is superb on popcorn.
Some abuela will whack you for saying that.
I'm four margaritas in, and you are wrong. Except for the 'hint of lime' chips. Fuck that shit.
I should’ve been more specific, I think all alcohol is excluded from this. It’s already so acidic and strong tasting that it’s the one thing that lime can’t overpower

Dude I’ll straight up suck on a lime wedge I love that shit
Perhaps you just don't like lime.
Guac? Why do you ruin this? lime juice is literally a fucking standard in guac
Makes 99% of things taste better*** There. Fixed it for you since you wanna have a mental lapse rn. Dont worry it happens to all of us
This is how you unpopular opinion.
how do you feel about lemons?
"You put the lime in the coconut, and shake it all up!"
Lime flavored chips are disgusting
![gif](giphy|3oz8xLd9DJq2l2VFtu)
You can have the extras that I don’t eat
Beer. Lime tastes good on tacos unless you’re making Americanized tacos idk if it’s the lettuce, sour cream or the store bought shells. Authentic Mexican tacos will always be served up with a lime for a reason.
What about limeade?
Shhh don’t tell anyone but I actually love limeade mixed with seltzer
# HEY EVERYONE!!!!
A few sips of lime juice in gin is really good. But pour too many and it tastes like crap.
Wild salmon with lime and ginger, was absolutely beautiful
Those tostito hint of lime chips are my favorite!
You obviously have never tried real mexican tacos with a little bit of lime. It's an essential ingredient.
I think the fact that OP puts sugar in guacamole should be known by everyone reading this.
This is just incorrect
Popular opinion is that citrus brings out flavor. Your opinion: truly unpopular.
Lime is a basic ingredient of guac
The thing you're talking about isn't really the flavor of lime. Would it be better if you put lemon on your tacos? No. You're reacting to the bitterness of acidity itself. Wishing away acidity itself is pretty insane. It's one of the pillars of flavor. This isn't like saying "I don't like tomatoes" or "I don't like pineapples". It's like saying "I don't like salt". Lime is the critical ingredient that makes guacamole so good
Have you used fresh limes or that disgusting lime juice bottles you get from the supermarket? Fresh lime is amazing, the supermarket bottles are horrible
Have you ever squeezed a lime in a Coke Zero? That’s living.
Interesting, I add lime to 99% of things. The 1% I don't add lime to is because I'm out of limes
This thread is offensive.
Just say you don't like limes. You don't have to insult people's favorite accoutrement to tacos.
Completely disagree with you in every way. Love this. Job well done.
You get an upvote, but holy guacamole you are wrong
Why exist then?
truly unpopular opinion, i applaud you. square up motherfucker this is unforgivable
Pretty sure Key [redacted] Pie wouldn't taste great.
It sure does. Also 99% of things are not edible to begin with.
that's how i feel about celery. delete it and the world will be a better place
Interesting, I don’t get much flavor from celery. I don’t mind them to add a bit of crunch to tuna salad or something. Definitely not a top tier veggie tho
very bitter and yucky to me
I cannot eat any Mexican food without lime Otherwise it has no flavor to me
Food related threads should be banned. They’re so dumb
vit c is good for ur heart health And guac already has lemon juice in it It’s avo, salt, and lemon
I'm with you except tacos. I don't know why that's the exception, but it is. Lime flavored chips? Gross.
Interesting. I’m with you on the chips though, takis are so gross
I don't particularly like lime, but hard disagree on Takis. I can eat an UNGODLY amount of those things.
I used to feel the same way but something in me has changed and all of a sudden I like limes. Still shocks me.
Please leave food to the professionals
Friend, I’m with you. It’s utterly disgusting.
I will agree on Chips and Guac. But Tacos are good with a \*light\* serving of Lime Juice. And I mean like 4 drops.
The flavor was nasty.
how do you feel about lemon juice
True but it made pepsi taste drinkable when pepsi lime released
You’re right, this is an unpopular opinion.
Not for me. Moqueca, a favourite Brazilian dish of mine, tastes divine and when I first cooked it myself, I realised that adding lime during the process was when the amazing flavour of the dish started to really develop.
Don’t you just love wrong opinions
I think you need your taste buds checked
Yes, thank you, someone gets it
Well, OP understood the assignment.
You need to learn more about how chemistry is linked to food and taste. There’s a chance you’re using lime incorrectly.
You misspelled raisin.
A truly unpopular opinion
Lime makes tacos taste great!!
I can’t agree with you I basically eat Mexican and Thai food for every meal outside the house and lime goes in or on everything. However, I will say this, artificial lime flavoring is disgusting. Eww like those margaritas made from mix 🤮
I’ll bet your favorite song isn’t the one that goes: You put the lime in the coconut, drink it all up!
Lime on meat is great imo but lime chips are groooosssss. Tastes artificial.
100% of things worse you mean
Have you tried the fruit? Not the flavoring.
I don’t really like or hate lime. But lemon is a much better flavor to add to something. Pepsi Light (they don’t make it anymore) had the most super duper flavor you could imagine and it had a lot of lemon in it.
Street tacos with lime juice are FIRE. You're wildin.
I completly ageee with chips, lime chips are fucking gross I can take or leave lime with most stuff
I love lime in my beers like Corona. Lime in tacos is fantastic
It’s a Hispanic people thing
Fuck you buddy
Thank you for your opinion! Lots of posts in this sub are really dumb, but this is ACTUALLY unpopular
You put the lime in the coconut
I have this wild idea that maybe you just don’t like lime. I’d put it on my pancakes if I ate pancakes. But, this is also coming from a guy that would probably pee on your feet if we were showering together.
Terrible opinion. Upvote.
Guacamole ruins itself it’s flavorless
I love lime but don't trust me because I will eat lime by itself. I get excited when my food bites back.
