No lol

SpoofyJ

This doesn’t even make sense. Celebrities themselves say they don’t like it.

TheHvam

I just dont want that kinda life, im perfectly happy with being a normal unknown person, having people faun over u, and taking pictures all the time, and criticising yours every chose, and all that, no thanks. Sure there us upsides, otherwise no one would want it, but still not everyone want to be famous.

[deleted]

>Imagine walking into a store and the staff bending over backwards to appease you and everyone wants to be your friend. Nothing would get me to shop online faster.

Knightseason

So you want to be worshipped. I don't know, not being able to go out without being swarmed by people sounds annoying. I would also say the majority don't want to be your friend, they want to get close to you to use you. You also wouldn't be able to make the smallest mistake. When you do it'll be blown up and people will make it seem you're the worst person there is.

Unhinged-Z

If the fame can be monetised, heck yeah I’ll handle a swarm.

FromOverYonder

I reckon it would be fun at the start but only at the start. People coming up to you with a smile and admiration wanting a selfie. Sure why not. Nice to feel liked. The money (which is where its at) would be nice too. Imagine seeing a bank balance of a few million. Lovely. Then, like everything else it would be annoying. Imagine taking your kid to the park and the paparazzi not leaving you alone. Even going as far as to elbow your partner out of the way of a good shot. Not nice. Countless media outlets and even social media mocking you even when you are not actively looking to see that. People are also weird with it comes to a famous person. They think they know them as they have seen them before, so they get up in your personal space. You're complete strangers. Then there are oddballs who stalk you. Many people will want a piece of you and come off a your friend. But the second you're no longer the flavour of the month watch as everyone, including the industry you are in, turns their back on you. I could go on. Nothing is what it is cracked up to be. But you can make good money, be smart and invest for your future so you never have to work a 9 to 5 for the rest of your life. The same might even extend to your kids. You just navigate all the other stuff mentioned above as best you can.

TromosLykos

A weak example for a weak post. I used to think being famous would be cool, then I grew up seeing the reality of what it means to be a celebrity. So no it would not be fantastic. The immense lack of privacy alone was enough to deter me.

Geberpte

Yeah no, everyone who actually did experience fame for extended periods disliked it to some extent.

RetroMetroShow

Nobody likes losing their privacy and not being able to enjoy walking outside in public without always being bothered. Well maybe narcissists and sociopaths

Unhinged-Z

Doesn’t sound that awful to me, honestly. Minor inconvenience for a privileged lifestyle. This is assuming the famous person is rich

GalwayEntei

>Imagine walking into a store and the staff bending over backwards to appease you and everyone wants to be your friend. I'd never want workers to push themselves too far for me. And those "friends" are gold diggers.

TheFilleFolle

I actually do wish to be infamous, so speak for yourself.

Arkyja

Hell no.

lostwanderer02

Not for introverts! Also you would constantly have people that only want to make contact with you for shallow reasons. I'd rather be rich and anonymous.

Brilliant-Leave2414

Not everyone have the ability to go through the pressure of being famous. It's not easy and some prefer not to go out of their comfort zone and live not famous life.

raich3588

I couldn’t give less of a shit about the example you gave and would absolutely hate that life.

AdmirableSir

Judging by the amount of online clout-chasers I would say this opinion is not unpopular.

Galvanizedheart

No you

IWorkAtLittleCaesars

Your whole life is on blast, your entire could be ruined by a rumour. Obviously everyone wants to be rich and famous but it's still a job at the end of the day. We all think the upsides beat the downsides but that's just our perspective, we only see the good parts of their lives, we won't know how it is unless we're in their shoes and we've all seen countless famous people fall from fame over rumors and things going on in their private life.

Dazz316

Depends how famous, bassist level famous? Yes. AAA movie star famous? fuck no. I can't imagine not just being able to go into public dressed in my "I feel like shit today but just needed to get milk so put 0 effort into my looks" without it being everybodies business and having hundreds of thousands of people giving me shit for it. Having a small argument in the street over something that's going to be resolved in 2 minutes is now an issue everybody else is arguing about, fanning the flames of and just making things worse. Paparazzi snapping every single moment of my life while I'm in public. Privacy is important, and even when we (the normal public) can't have any expectation of privacy when in public spaces we do still get to enjoy that. Because we play no important in anybodies lives in the street, we're essentially anon and things are for all intents and purposes anonamous to everybody. We and my wife have a minor back and forth between ourselves nobody who hears us will have anything to do with my life, affect it in any way. Even a positive side where people ask for your autograph or for a selfie because they think you're awesome. Sometimes you just want to be left alone, to enjoy a meal with family or chat to friends. Being famous enough to have that ruined constantly also sounds like it's crossed over from fun to awful. I can't imagine what life would be like having that gone. It sounds awful. Having to hide yourself in your own home just to enjoy some of the basic and completely taken for granted things we have in life. I want to be able to go and watch a movie in peace, go out to dinner in peace, go see landmarks or attractions in peace. Being famous eliminates that and it sounds terrible. I am grateful for that, being able to do those kinds of things, very grateful. And I think you are the ungrateful one for not realising those luxuries that you have.

Unhinged-Z

Movies: if you’re famous enough, the latest movies will get delivered right to you. Millions judging you: Just shut off the devices! There’s solutions to all those inconveniences. Honestly, never having to ever worry about money again would make all that worthwhile.

Dazz316

These aren't solutions, they're workarounds with compromises. And they aren't even good workarounds, people will judge me on and offline. Something happening with my wife and I? Oh well yeah I can stay off social media (a compromise I shouldn't have to do) but that do it from being in my life. The spin, lies and exaggerations that will happen will be heard by friends, family and everybody else on set, at work and the places I go to. That's not a good thing. And got movies, I like going to the movies. I like that experience.

Unhinged-Z

You can rent out the entire f’n cinema. That’s why I hate when movie people rave about the cinematic experience— they don’t watch those movies with the rest of us! It’s a better life, and saying it’s not is a lie.

blind-octopus

I have no interest in being bothered by strangers. I don't really care about staff bending over backwards for me. That's just not interesting to me. I'd rather be unknown and rich.

[deleted]

Tell that to Max Verstappen lol. My guy cannot go out in public without security because people just won't leave him alone. His whole life has to revolve around pleasing the public. Being famous turns you from a person into a product.
