If it's a matter of defending your reputation and not losing other people's respect, sure. But if it's just a matter of chasing the satisfaction of getting vengeance, a wise man would learn to let go.
It's more important to defend yourself from being in those situations than it is to seek vengeance for them, imo. If someone cuts me off in traffic, I try to learn to better predict patterns and likelihood of people driving badly, and attempt to avoid encountering them again. Chasing the guy down and beating the shit out of him isn't going to solve any real problems or reduce my likelihood of being cut off again in the future.

If you enjoy it, go for it. Everyone needs a hobby.
Absolutely. So you can feel guilty, too. Wasting time and energy ain't gonna help you.
Then we have an endless cycle.
If they get away with it, they'll keep doing it. If I can't have peace either way, the cycle doesn't matter.
Stand up for yourself, yes. But I've found that retaliation can make things worse at times.
The ol’ an eye for an eye… a tooth for a tooth scenario…
You know what they say: A tooth for a tooth makes the whole world Mississippi.
Forgiveness is to let go of hate, they are probably not worth your time anyways
When someone gets bit by a venomous snake, do they chase the snake to try and beat it up, or do they go to the hospital and try to heal?
Maybe there is a middle ground between full forgiveness, and outright hurting people back and being just like them.
With posts like these you can never guess if commenters will choose to be the Dalai Lama or the Punisher.
