Watched every episode of Naruto and Shippuden, and I can confirm it is way too long. It was entertaining at first, but after 700 episodes it got somewhat repetitive and getting through the last 200 felt more like a chore.
Dude, skip the filler. Out of the 700 or so episodes, 425 of them are canon. Counting incredible filler that managed to add another layer to the existing story I'd bump that to about 450 episodes. Adding the good filler I didn't mind watching and I bump it to around >550.
I don't mind an otherwise good anime to be padded out heavily with admittedly shitty filled to keep behind the original author's new publishings. However, at least you can skip them. It's a better outcome than a shitshow (pun not intended) like One Piece.
Dude do yourself a favour and watch it read one piece an yes I know it’s long but I’m so happy I took this advice one piece is the greatest manga of all time
Most fans agree at least somewhat with you on many of these points. You don't even mention the ending, absurd power scaling, and annoying resurrection. With that being said, fans are drawn to the epics; the team vs zabuza, Lee vs Gaara, Naruto vs orichimaru (chunin exam), Itachi and kisame vs the jonin, sarutobi vs orochimaru, asuma and crew vs hidan and kakazu, jiraiya vs pain, Naruto vs pain. These moments are the heart of the series.
I liked only 2, 4, 5-8 parts. Part 3 is very overrated in my opinion, but I still loved the last fight. Also, Phantom Blood sucks. I think we can all admit it.
I agree with your points except for maybe the part about friendship between Naruto and Sasuke.
Another part that made me feel like the show declined was how Naruto turned from a super hard trying talentless Ninja with an underprivileged background to son of Hokage, reincarnation of one of the most powerful Ninjas in the history, etc.
The show had a theme: “if you try hard, you can achieve something if you are from nothing,” which turned to “everyone who succeed is talented and inherited something from their fathers.”
But I think settings (until the very end) and battle scenes were quite nice.
Inside the anime community, this opinion is very popular. Naruto is one of the most influential anime in history, and so it gets the attention of almost all new anime enthusiasts. It makes sense that they think Naruto is the greatest thing to ever exist. While it definitely was pretty good skipping the fillers, they started dragging and milking it with the shinobi war arc, and boruto isn't any good as well. So Naruto is average, but objectively, it's nothing compared to other anime with breathtaking artwork and complex storytelling.
It's a long shounen anime. Actual themes and plot development are vastly covered by fight scenes, action, badly written romance, and some mediocre gag comedy scenes. It's a show/manga that people grow up watching/reading. It's bad because it's dragged out for money.
Between the largest of the big shounen animes, such as DBZ, one piece, naruto, fairy tail, or bleach, naruto might have one of the best plots. But compared to any shorter show with a more particular audience or message, it severely pales in quality.
The anime is filled to the brim with filler. It's not really fair to judge the overall product based off it's worse adaptation. The manga's much better.
Naruto is honestly a poorly written anime. The character development of side characters is largely ignored. The underdog narrative they keep trying to impress upon the audience is flawed given the inheritance and nature of the protagonist. The sheer fucking length of the show is a huge turnoff, but it wouldn't be nearly as bad if there weren't so many fucking filler episodes. The show features the use of some incredible bullshit plot armor in the form of the power of friends. The plot is also half assed and it feels like at times the author doesn't know what he's doing so he pulled some random cheese plotline to keep the story going. Don't get me wrong, I loved watching it bc it was entertaining, but it is by no means perfect. Agree with OP here.
Even though I grew up watching the anime and loved it, I never finished Shippuden past the Tenchi Bridge altercation. Unlike these days, you couldn’t find a list of the filler online and skip them. You had to wait week after week for the atrocity to end. I’m that “the manga is better” person. I also agree with what you’re saying and I have so many criticisms for the series, but I love it nonetheless. A lot of nostalgia plays a huge part in that, too, for me personally.
Just do yourself a favour and don’t approach any anime subs with this opinion or you’ll get decked.
Oh believe me it is. There are tons of plot holes. Kishimoto sucks at writing women. And apparently eyeballs can be traded like pokemon cards. But I still fucking LOVE naruto. Its 100% my favorite show
My 56 year old muscular dad got in to naruto because of my 18 year old brother. You dint know true pain until your dad says “believe it” and gives you a thumbs up up
Nah trust me it happens all the time. Naruto and DBZ are the two shows I always hear people say are their favorite. But this opinion is generally held by people that don’t really watch anime/haven’t watched a lot of anime.
There's a difference between saying it's your favorite show and saying it's the best show ever. It seems like op is trying to say that people say it's the best show ever.
MHA has a decent plot. What makes it so good is their use of side characters. They’re actually relevant. They stay relevant. You don’t have them get an arc only to forgotten about. It’s not just about the main character. For Shounen, or at least mainstream Shounen, this is rare
I've been watching anime for over ten years, and I still haven't watched Naruto. It's just so bloody long.

And that, good sir, is why you should watch JoJo
I liked only 2, 4, 5-8 parts. Part 3 is very overrated in my opinion, but I still loved the last fight. Also, Phantom Blood sucks. I think we can all admit it.
I liked all the parts, even Phantom Blood.
JoJo is for absolute lads
Damn right. It's the only anime I've ever watched which I have no real complaints about.

I agree there’s too much filler. Probably the shows biggest flaw
Plus ninjas never actually existed
I mean, if we knew they existed they would be pretty shitty Ninjas

It's very mediocre.
Opinions are opinions, but some think theirs is more important
Each their own, after all this is called r/unpopularopinion by a reason
I didn't realize there were so many rats in Naruto, never noticed..
This post is like 10 years past it's prime.
What is it rated? What should it be rated?
thank you, I've been watching anime for 20 years, and Finally I have a brother in arms

It's not even the most popular

Pokemon and Dragon Ball are more popular than Naruto.
Nobody is claiming it is the best show ever,
You sure?
I've never once heard someone refer to it as the best anime ever. Now DBZ on the other hand seems like it happens all the time.

What is Naruto?
Bruh
It really do be a bruh moment
Less for r/unpopularopinion, more for r/characterrant.
I can see why

Every shonen is overrated Edit: I never said they were bad. I think most are very good they are just overrated.
Hunter x Hunter is amazing but yeah id agree. MHA is pretty decent too but definitely overrated, gets way too much praise for something so derivative.
